‘the beginning of purpose’

Il balcone di nonna profuma di pomodoro e pace mentale, fa caldo ma fuori si sopporta ancora. Una piccola parentesi di pace inframezzata dai soliti battibecchi, questa da sempre la descrizione migliore dei miei soggiorni estivi al sud.

A volte penso di essere tale e quale a mia nonna, che vuole sempre accontentare tutti e quello che vuole lei passa sempre in secondo piano, anche se lei sa benissimo cosa vuole e cosa no. Due giorni fa ha ammesso - con una vocina schiacciata dalla nostalgia - che se avesse avuto da ragazza le possibilità che abbiamo noi oggi, avrebbe voluto fare la giardiniera, prendersi cura delle piante, che quando ne vede una soffrire sente un dolore anche lei, dentro. Nonna non dice spesso cose così, parla di quello che si deve cucinare a pranzo, dei nostri bisogni, di argomenti per lo più pratici e immediati. Per questo i momenti in cui ci apre un po’ del suo cuore diventano subito memorabili.

Nonna è una di quelle persone che quando c’è lo senti, senti la pace, le ore si allungano e si stiracchiano sonnolente e anche se non hai niente da fare miracolosamente non si affolla nessun pensiero, hanno sonno pure loro.

What kind of impact has 1 left on your life?

When I can’t sleep or feel anxious their music never fails to calm me down, it always works for me and I think Benjamin Gibbard writes really beautiful lyrics.

How did you get into 2?

I had this phase when I was really into Youtube and I was following pretty much every English youtuber I could find (mainly because I really like the british accent lol) and one day I found this video of a pretty girl with a ukulele and this beautiful amazing perfect angel voice and I basically fell in love. and bought a  uke. wow. why  am I so extra. omg.

Is there any song by 3 that makes you sad?

This band has very deep and meaningful lyrics and their songs give you a lot to think about, but I must say their songs usually put me in a good mood because there is always a sense of community in them, Tyler writes in a way that turns personal feelings and doubts and insecurities into a general feeling of belonging, he is telling you it’s okay to feel a certain way and gives you the hope you were desperately looking for. If I have to choose the songs that make me sad (but like in a good way, you know?) I would say Anathema, A car, a torch, a death, Addict with a pen and Neon Gravestones.

How many times have you seen 4 live?

Two but I’ve got plans to turn that into three.

What are your favourite lyrics by 5?

It’s very hard to choose but these words have a special meaning to me:

Simple and sweet. (all his songs are amazing, I don’t even listen to this genre but the guy is a genius)

Caught in the Middle. (I really like their latest album, it’s very different and fresh)

What’s your favourite song by 9?

Girls/girls/boys. I am forever grateful to this song.

How did you get into 10?

Many artists I like mentioned them between the bands they listen to so I figured I would like them as well and I was right :)
