listen im sure the odyssey is an alright film but even if it’s a perfect adaptation and it’s a masterpiece and this and that, I am simply unable to take it seriously just by the stupid amount of a-list actors that were casted. seriously. we’re in a time when capitalism has pushed art (book publishing, movies etc) to feed consumers as quickly as possible in a huge money-making spectacle rather than provide a quality product rooted in care for the craft. and maybe the odyssey is a quality product! but nevertheless i am laughing at the cast list fr. it seems like every single movie released in the last two years has casted the exact same people every time. jacob elordi robert pattinson margot robbie zendaya (im sorry ily queen) ryan gosling timothee chalamet etc etc lalalalala. I’m numb. im numb! its so hard for me to believe that casting this repetitively isn’t just to make money. you’re telling me that the same ten a-list actors featured in every new movie are the ONLY people suitable to play these characters. you’re joking. you are straight pulling my leg. really. even if the movie is a masterpiece and lalala. my point is that all im ever going to be able to see are the actors, both for this movie and every other new release lol. that and dollar signs. all im getting is that they just wanted these giant actors to sell tickets. it’s a christopher nolan movie for gods sake it’s not like it was ever going to flop in the first place. my argument isn’t even that much about the odyssey, it was just my breaking point due to the almost comedic amount of celebrities in the cast list. and if you point it out you’re just a snob ig. why in gods name can’t they cast different people anymore
