These remind me of this drawing by Franz Kafka from the 1900s. We've been feeling this way for a long time.
prev, i'm sure you mean my guy Leonid Pasternak
fred talking about oscar and logan:
🗣️: "when you first started in formula 3, you raced alongside oscar piastri and logan sargeant. and fans are still loving talking about the trio of, like, fol of you guys. i've seen so many fun videos from that era. and oscar mentioned that you used to be neighbors together. and logan recently mentioned that racing alongside you and oscar was one of his most cherished memories. so what's your memory of that racing alongside them?"
fred: "i think i would definitely repeat that message. that year was very special. it felt like we were bringing together three very strong drivers and we had to fight it out. we had to fight out who is the best driver. but what really ended up happening was we were so different as drivers. oscar was just so consistent and perfect. he never retired, he never crashed, he just stayed in the top 5 all the time, scored a lot of points. i was a bit more up and down, but i won 3 feature races, most of anyone in the team. and logan was really fast in qualifying. he was definitely the faster of us in qualifying. so we had sort of different strengths. but we were growing up together and we had a lot of fun."
Kim and George anyone?
.
.
the very idea that someone could sit down, watch lestat puke while still trying to rationalize the abuse, have a full blown panic attack over it when louis yells that there is no rationalizing this, and then go say it's consensual...that it's not portrayed as abuse...insane...
i also think a lot of people aren't really getting the *point* of louis' reaction. it's extremely harsh and judgmental and completely insensitive to the fact that lestat is being abused, but that is the purpose of it. the entire season is lestat attempting to justify it. this is louis saying that you cannot justify it. there is no rational way to justify that happening. and when lestat has a breakdown over it, they both sort of realize at the same time that this means lestat has been suffering incestuous sexual abuse for 200 fucking years.
it overwhelms lestat, and it clicks for louis. that's when he changes tacts, when he comforts lestat, when he gently tries to help him admit that it's been abuse all along in the bar. it's so realistic, such a necessary sequence.
i think there is unfortunately a knee jerk reaction people have to abuse like this, esp when it's mother/son, where it's just "gross", "weird", or "sick", as louis says. where the child is not taken to be a victim, somehow. i think the show is very honest in having this be louis' initial reaction, until he sees lestat's panic, until he properly thinks it through for a second. and then he gets it, and he feels horrible about what he said. again, it's just all very realistic and bittersweet. everyone involved did an incredible job with this storyline imo.

pressed flowers - project 1
late this summer, i started collecting flowers from my garden, friends’ and family’s gardens, and from nature with the hope of pressing them and creating artwork with them.
today, i started working on a few different pieces and i love how different they’re all turning out. while the initial process of collecting, trimming, and placing the flowers in books took some time, it was such a fun process and i only lost a few flowers in the end.
here they are fresh after being picked. i pressed them between large books and wax/parchment paper for a few weeks.
here are just some of my flowers from this past summer! i am so lucky that my lavender did really well this year as it allowed me to cut many flowers for pressing as well as to dry out.
i used tacky glue and diluted it with a bit of water before gently dabbing the backs of the flowers/leaves with a paintbrush.
i love how the yellow pops against the navy blue cardstock!
If I tell you this is a horror dance number it still won't prepare you. That last move was so terrifying even the judge was like "Let go! Let go!" If you told me they're actually possessed I'd believe you.
The music is a remix of the song Mere Dholna from the Bollywood movie Bhool Bhulaiyya, a remake of the classic Malayalam horror-comedy Manichitrathazhu. It's about a young bride that seemingly becomes possessed of Manjulika, a dancer of the ancient royal court whose tragic death has turned her into a vengeful spirit, one who evokes the wrath of the goddess Durga Kali. In the iconic scene that is repeated across remakes, the groom and his family discover his bride dancing in the dead of night in a manic, disassociative fugue, wearing a moth-eaten dancer's costume and a face smeared in kohl, ash and vermilion. She's hallucinating that she's Manjulika dancing carefree for the court with her lover. The upbeat music is deliberately incongruous with the pathos and creepiness of the scene in reality, especially as it crescendos in the bride's head to the moment when the king decapitates Manjulika's beloved in a fit of jealous rage.
This specific number is by the all-male troupe B Unique, performed for the Indian reality talent contest Hunabaarz. It's a modern fusion based on Bharatnatyam that turns up the creep factor by 200% and is basically a showcase of contortionism and synchronicity. One of the most perfectly choreographed and executed dances I have ever seen. Truly incredible!
The group is still taking their work across the world's talent shows. And yes, that guy is hypermobile enough to do that with his neck. XD
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE 3.06: Montreal TVLTwT/IWTVTwT Version. +bonus bc op is very tired of seeing terrible takes online:
The Vampire Lestat is now streaming on AMC+. If you have the chance, please support the show by tuning in on the official platforms. Every view counts!
it's crazy that everything in TVL is so wild that the idea of beheading the lead characters is just felt tame to me lol
i mean, it's full of 'of course' lol
of course they killed lestat, they're trying to stop the great conversion...
of course they'll kill louis too, because what do you think louis would've done if he found out they killed lestat?
BRING FORTH ALL THE FIX-IT FICS PLEASE

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE Season 1, Episode 4 | Season 3, Episode 5
You can tell the difference in Lestat’s intent based on who was telling the story.
In Claudia’s version of events, Lestat was being cruel by making her watch Charlie burn. Grabbing her with his hands and forcing her to gaze as his face melted. His face is serious as he tortures her with this lesson.
In Lestat’s memories, he was holding Claudia’s hand the entire time as she watched Charlie burn in front of her. His face is melancholic and tearful as he likely recalls Nicki being burned by Armand. He was enduring the pain with her in real time.
Claudia never knew any of this because she never looked back to see his face.

TVL is some of the densest writing I have ever seen on a tv show. The writers treat every single line like it needs to be doing three jobs at once - foreshadowing, character work AND a callback to something said in season one. No show is above criticism and when all is said and done i'll have my own critiques of season 3 but the quality of the writing or the writers room not understanding these characters is not one of them. you WILL need the rewatch. you WILL need to pay attention or you miss something important or misunderstand the characters. they will not hand it to you easily.
I have feelings about Lestat’s child self being the part of him that seems to want to break him away from Gabriella, and being the one to alert him to Louis calling.
