fred whenever kimi is on pole
some of you weren’t around for the fan fiction dot net purge of 2002 (when they banned explicit content and mass-deleted thousands of fics) and the livejournal purge of 2007 (when they deleted hundreds of blogs, disproportionately targeting queer & kink content) and it shows
this kind of policing is why ao3 was created
remember, kids, the three laws of fandom are:
- don’t like; don’t read
- your kink is not my kink
- ship and let ship
your kink is not my kink *but your kink is okay* don't forget that part
andrea stella's interview after the quali in belgium:
"what do you take away from that session?"
stella: "i think it's been a good session for us. p3 is a better result than some of the last results lately. still the gap to the best mercedes is large, we acknowledge that. but i think especially lando drove very well. we maximised overall what was available in the car.
i think the new wing we took here works well for the level of drag and downforce required in belgium. so it was more about optimization. also a lot of work in optimizing the power unit, working in collaboration with hpp.
there's a couple of tents between lando and oscar, but we see that with the tight competitive situation we have at the moment, in two tents you can have three or four positions."
"we discussed in the commentary box a lot that decision to run the second run with lando norris. how difficult was that from your side or was it pretty easy to let him do that second run on new tyres?"
stella: "we could see both sides. we could see that a brand new soft tyres could be useful tomorrow, but at the same time if there was one tenth of a second in the conditions, we wanted to go and grab it. why not have an attempt at pole position? so we played offensive. we are happy with that.
it was important also with lando to make sure that we qualify as high as possible, because tomorrow there are important points to go and grab. not an easy decision but happy that we played offensive."
"you mentioned the new engine and about optimization. are you happy with how that's all working together from your side?"
stella: "well we are happy to have the latest specification. we are happy with the optimization working together with hpp. in this generation of formula 1, there's so much in the optimization of the power unit. not only for the electrical side, but also the internal combustion engine. happy so far. we will see also how this will help us tomorrow to go and grab important points."
lando's interview for sky after the quali in belgium:
"it's the biggest pole advantage of the year kimi has. i think you were four and a half tenths down. was that kind of what you expected today? was that the most you could have achieved?"
lando: "yes, certainly. i was pretty happy with my lap. it was probably one of the best laps i've ever done in qualifying. i was very happy. i'm very happy to be p3. it's a shame it doesn't matter for tomorrow because i'm starting p13 now. but for the package that we have, to be p3 is pretty amazing, so. happy, very pleased.
i don't know why anyone's surprised that a mercedes is on pole by four tenths. that's how it's been all season. so, yeah, especially around the longest track of the year. kimi's done a good job and i'm happy to be p3 with the lap that i did."
"i guess you came one place with hadjar at the back, so you start 12th, i suppose."
lando: "i think i start 13th."
"ok, fair enough. despite that then, special strategy, what was the sort of limit of your ambition do you think? do you think you can be in podium contention or not?"
lando: "i mean we'll hope so. like, i honestly i don't think so. i don't think the pace we have is good enough for p3 to come back from where we are now because it's not like i'm two or three tenths ahead of the ferrari's, i'm half a tenth ahead with one of the best laps i've ever done in my life, so.
to fight back and overtake i think it's gonna be pretty difficult but you never know. we'll do our best, we'll put on a good plan and we'll execute the best race we can."

lando's interview for f1tv after the quali in belgium:
"how do you reflect on that session today? the final round we did see a bit of a moment, but how did it all unfold on your side?"
lando: "very good. actually pretty surprised to be p3. my lap was a pretty mega lap, was probably one of the best laps i've ever done in qualifying, so i'm pretty happy with today. just a shame i start p13 tomorrow, so it doesn't matter too much.
but i've been happy all weekend. i feel like i've been doing a good job all weekend, getting the most out of the car and i feel like i did that again today, so. yeah, p3 was certainly the best we could achieve."
"you touched on the penalty dropping back, but what's the mindset for tomorrow and how confident are you that you will have a car to move forward from where you're starting?"
lando: "i mean, we can certainly move forward, but how far into the top eight is a different question, i think. my pace was an amazing lap to put me p3, but it wasn't like i was miles ahead of the others. it was like half a tenth or a tenth. if you're half a tenth or a tenth quicker, especially with the lap that i did, we're probably not actually quicker than them.
i don't expect to have an incredible chance to get high up the order tomorrow, but i think if we can get in the top six maybe, that would be amazing. if it's just top eight, then i think that's what we should expect."

"you’ve spoken about fighting back through the field tomorrow. can you just give us a bit of an insight into the mindset that you and the team bring into that scenario, and how it’s different from another race?" lando: "honestly, it’s not too different. i mean you’re trying to do your best in every race. you put together as many good plans as you can. i think clearly, the pace is pretty good. it’s close, so it’s not like we’re easily going to be able to get back in the fight with the top group. but, of course, a good start and a good first lap can easily get me back where i want to be quickly. from then on, it just depending on how easy overtaking is or how difficult it is. i don’t think it’s going to be crazy easy, but there are a lot of possibilities. honestly, it’s not that different because you do your best in every race. you’re always attacking. for me, that’s always what works best. yeah, i guess we’ll probably come up with a few more scenarios. if overtaking is easy or hard, and we can’t get back into the top six, seven or eight that quickly, what else can we do to bring us back into the fight? but apart from that, i’m confident we’ll be able to get up there pretty quickly."
2026 belgian grand prix post-quali press conference | lando ( 1 ) ( 2 ) ( 3 ) ( 4 )
"with the ten-place penalty, you’re going to start p12 tomorrow. what’s possible?" lando: "it’s tough to say. i’ll just do my best to come back through and get well into the points. i think we’re clearly much quicker than quite a few of the cars. gabi has done a good job, as always. the alphatauri, or the upgraded one of arvid, looks pretty racy at times, so i’m confident we can at least get past all of these guys. it’s more about how far into the top six or eight, from a red bull, mercedes and ferrari point of view, we can get back in the race with these guys. so that’s just the target."
2026 belgian grand prix post-quali press conference | lando ( 1 ) ( 2 ) ( 3 ) ( 4 )
"how pleased are you with this performance, and where has it come from? because the team, at least, tells us that there’s nothing new on the car this weekend." lando: "no, there’s not really. i mean, we have a different rear wing, which is probably not even a tenth, more like half a tenth, which still makes a difference when you see how close it is. but really, over the last three or four weeks, we’ve not had anything that’s helped that much in performance or is really going to move us forward. i think there have always been little bits, and we always try to bring little bits every weekend, but there’s not been anything. it’s simply the car performing better on a different track. we performed well in miami. we’ve had a couple of other races that were not so good, but we’re up and down simply because of how the track suits the car each time. but also i feel like, honestly, i’ve been doing a very good job. i feel like all weekend i’ve been very confident with the car and getting everything out of it since fp1. my lap in q3, honestly, was probably one of the best laps i’ve ever done in qualifying, so i’ve been very pleased with my performance all season. but, like i said on thursday, it doesn’t matter if you do the best lap of your life. it doesn’t mean you’re on pole all of a sudden. we just need to add more performance to the car. it’s quite simple, and everyone in the factory is working on that."
2026 belgian grand prix post-quali press conference | lando ( 1 ) ( 2 ) ( 3 ) ( 4 )
"you were fastest after the first run of q3. how much did that moment at the fagnes chicane cost you, do you think, on that 2nd lap?" lando: "which chicane is that? oh how much did it cost me? well i went off, so." "but without that, do you think you could be sat in the middle?" lando: "no. no, i don't know. i don't have a delta on my dash, so i don't know if i was up or not. honestly, i didn't think i was going any better than my first lap. my first lap was pretty... yeah, pretty amazing. i was quite shocked to be at the top, so. i was very pleased. i just don't know if i was up or not. i don't know if i was green or yellow or white or purple or what, so. that was a shame. the thing is, i knew if kimi was going quicker, he wasn't going quicker by half a tenth. that's never been the case all season. so, again, i guess it just hurts when you see a car go four tenths quicker. but he's done a good job. and i'm still happy with the p3, honestly, i'm still pretty pleased to be here. it's just a shame i have a 10 place grid penalty. so, i won't be anywhere close to here tomorrow morning."

lando and george in parc ferme after quali...
post quali | f1 belgian gp 2026 (18.07.26)
george's interview for sky after the quali in belgium:
"we've been watching you working hard on the outside all weekend to close the deficit to kimi. even turn 14, we heard, it was a big loss. is it how he's harvesting in these corners, which is leaving you light on power in the straights relative to him?"
george: "that's what we thought. coming out of silverstone, we thought it was in the driving style and technique. but we've finally concluded it's not. and we've changed everything. it was 4 tenths in the straights in q3.
it's frustrating, every single lap i've come in this weekend, seeing anywhere from two tenths to four tenths of a fight. you know, in fp2 yesterday, it was seven tenths.
the team are working so hard to understand what it is. we saw it as early as austria, actually. we saw signs, but we always thought there was a reason. sprint qualifying in silverstone, we saw three and a half tenths loss. we thought we found the problem. so we keep going through this process of 'ah, we think it's this,' we change it. 'oh, it's not this, maybe it's the driving style.'
i thought it was the driving style. honestly, i came into this weekend, i said on thursday, i think it's the driving style. changed the driving style. it's not the driving style. and, as i said, the team are working super hard to understand what it is."
"you'll start p3 tomorrow. there are opportunities on the opening lap here. if you get an opportunity to win it, that's still got to be your focus."
george: "yeah, for sure. anything can happen. but as i said, the truth is, battling against my teammate, who's such an incredible driver, doing such a great job at the moment, in the best of times, is a tall order. but i feel confident head to head, i can achieve it but when it feels like you're bashing with one hand behind your back, it's a challenge.
but we had the issue in silverstone and we ended up p2 on the podium. so i pray i'm going to try and endure the pain of this issue tomorrow and hope for a great result, and try and find the solution before next week."
george's interview for f1tv after the quali in belgium:
"tell us how you're feeling after that one. can you take us into the cockpit? what are you dealing with out there at the moment?"
george: "well, that felt good, to be honest. that felt good. but we've just been dealing with an issue with the straight line speed ever since silverstone. and we thought we found the problem, changed it, wasn't the problem. then we thought it was the driving style and tried different driving styles. it wasn't the solution. and yeah, the losses are just astronomical at the moment. but i feel... after looking at the data, i feel positive with the job i did. my lap, if you just take the corners, they were very good."
"how frustrating is that, though? you want to be fighting for this championship."
george: "oh, i mean, it's super frustrating. battling against kimi at the best of times is very tough in a fair fight. when we're in this situation, it's impossible when you're losing all the lap time in the straights. the team are working so hard to try and pinpoint what it is because can be a million things. it's not just 'oh, the engine is slow.' it can be the drag, something binding. is it the bearings? is it the power unit? is it the battery? is it the the wings? is it the floor? there's a million different things, so. i was trying a karting strategy of putting my head down to see if that helped but it didn't."
toto after the qualifying in belgium, talking about george:
“george is obviously suffering from a lack of straight line speed, which we are unable to explain. a couple of tenths. we've literally left no stone unturned. is it the power unit? kimi has a brand new power unit and this makes a difference? we will see on the next tracks because there will be less energy stuff, so it doesn't make a big difference.
and then there's a few tenths that george needs to find. lots of it he has already found, but over a few corners there's still two tenths, two and a half tenths. so overall, he's recovered well.
but at the moment he doesn't gel with the car and he hasn't for the last two weekends and that's probably not his fault, but we just need to bring it together.
"does that deficit make it tough for him to try and win this race tomorrow against kimi?"
toto: "difficult. in the long runs, they were pretty equal in pace. and then obviously, here's the benefit of the starting position. you don't want to be ahead. so we'll see how that pans out after lap one."
a likely place for him to be

lando/george, 1.1k, m
It’s not hard to figure out that Lando is at these events for the same reason George is: Getting their slice of the cake from the world of the rich and famous. or: The only people George and Lando aren't using might be each other.
i wish george russell isnt real so whatever mercedes is doing to him cant hurt me
