Pain never hurt me like love x
âYou really donât think I love you?â Dean asked.
Something in Casâ expression shifted. The anger bottled up and poured out as fresh tears. He had to have been expecting Dean to say itâ after everythingâ but the words still wrapped him tight. Bloomed new color in his cheeks even as that flinch of emotion drew him thinner. So Dean said it again. Repeated it as much for himself as for Cas.Â
âOf course I love you, you idiot. It sure as hell canât be anything else.âÂ
The Fic
Thatâs right, a 17K+ post-canon fix-it from the tortured artist who brought you this piece because I definitely couldnât leave them like that (unlike some peopleâŚ) and SURPRISE! I write sometimes too.Â
So look a family dance party in heaven ending is Very Dumb but at least we now know the whole lamp thing was headed somewhere. The happy dancing couple, and Dean saying he always thought he'd be a a good dancer, that was a Dabb ep and it was setting up a key part of the final scene. Not necessarily saying "Cas is lamp" finale but maybe Cas WAS gonna be lamp. In this ted talk I will
Call me desperate and overoptimistic but an executive producer of spn DID like this meme đ
Metaphor For the Finale
Lucifer knocking over the entire house of cards -Â but he used glue.
Okay. We see you BuckLemming. We see you Dabb. We see you. âDonât worry yaâll, we cheated. They may have knocked over what we so carefully built, but it still holds together just fine. This thing we built has what they call structural integrity. It doesnât fall apart quite so easily.âÂ
GUYS, THE FINAL TWO CARDS EXACTLY FALL OFF THE HOUSE OF CARDS THEY CAREFULLY BUILT. Â
@caswhoevenissheâ Thank you for your cursed insight. You are valued.Â

I think Iâm just fully realizing, as Iâm half-rewatching the show via YouTube reaction videosâŚwe really werenât supposed to love Dean. And we really were not the target audience, and by we I mean a much larger segment of folks than you may think. Eric Kripke (and also Robert Singer) didnât want a bunch of queer OR mentally ill folks OR women OR people of color OR abuse survivors. Hell, he didnât even really want an audience of macho manly men!
Eric Kripke was aiming for an audience of Eric Kripkesâthe kind of whiny pseudo-intellectual nerdbro who finds men like s1 Dean threatening in real life, thinks being rejected romantically by a woman is comparable to real hardship, views any unfamiliar form of intimacy with some base level of suspicion, and expresses disgust at other menâs promiscuity not because he has more ârespectâ for women (and donât get me started on the puritanism of equating sex with disrespect automatically), but because he resents that he canât do the same.
anyways thinking that the existence of gay people is automatically all about sex and that gay people and gay love is all about sexuality and isnt as pure and wholesome as familial love and bonds of friendship (which funny enough gay people experience too), and that recognizing and celebrating gay love is disrespectful to the âintegrityâ of a work, and that fans celebrating this must be all straight women who âjust want to see two guys kissâ rather than the lived existence of lgbt fans who seek out celebrating love and themselves and each other in stories they hold close even when media continually denies representation is, in fact, a little bit homophobic
Weâre the ones who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition.
To the power of a group of people unapologetically loving something silly and taking control of the stories that matter to them.
To the power of saving your favorite characters as a form of saving yourself.
To positive and healthy expressions of queer love, shared art, and making something beautiful together.
To the realization that âcanonâ merely indicates the version of the story preferred by the copyright holders - often corporations - and the rest is just fan fiction fodder, baby!
To fan fiction as an outlet for majority queer and female creators, perpetually blowing paid male writers out of the water.
To better fucking representation on every front moving forward. Â
To blackout poetry, its own form of rebellion.
To family.
To found family.
To asserting that we, too, can live to see our own happy endings.
And,
of course,

Help! I'm parasocializing!
I actually feel hugged. Wow. You have the power Kim. â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
KNOCK KNOCK KRIPKE ARE YOU THERE. THE HYPERMASCULINE CW SHOW THAT YOU WROTE, LOVED BY US SOLDIERS FOR ITS MALE POWER FANTASY, HAS BECOME A QUEER LOVE STORY. KNOCK KNOCK KRIPKE YOUR ARCHETYPE MALE LEAD IS NOT A STRING OF VIOLENT IMPULSES BUT A BEING OF LOVE. KNOCK KNOCK KRIPKE THE SHOW YOU SET UP TO BE A SIMPLE SELF INSERT ABOUT MEN KILLING ONEDIMENSIONAL MONSTERS HAS BEGUN TO WRITE ITSELF AND IS NOW A CAREFUL DECONSTRUCTION OF THE VERY ARCHETYPES YOU TRIED TO WRITE. IT STATES DIRECTLY IN THE TEXT THAT THE ONLY ACT OF FREE WILL IN THE UNIVERSE IS ONE MANâS LOVE FOR ANOTHER. KRIPKE CAN YOU HEAR ME
deans trying real hard to make up for lost time and cas does not understand
Itâs like, you turn on this show. And itâs casual, itâs a show like any other, honestly. The story is familiar because youâve seen it before, because itâs so clear who these characters are meant to be and what theyâre supposed to do, what theyâre supposed to want. Until, somehow, theyâre not. And they donât.Â
And you slowly start to realize that no, they arenât familiar because theyâre predictable, theyâre familiar because theyâre you. And it hits you, itâs hit you before but it hits you that youâve never seen your story told, not really, not like this. Until now. Maybe.
You see them being strong in ways you never thought you could be. You see them grow in ways you never got to, in ways youâre waiting to. You see them being loved.
And their story becomes the thing you think about sometimes, when youâre bored. And then you find yourself thinking about it when youâre sad, too, because somehow it makes you feel just a little bit better. Youâre thinking about it when you need a friend, youâre thinking about it when you need to feel strong or distracted or just to relax.
And it starts to get complicated, the way itâs becoming part of your life, the way itâs connecting to the things that are inextricable from what makes you you. You find hope in their love, that hell and mistakes and flaws and fears canât keep people apart if they choose each other. You find strength in their queerness, in the way they werenât meant to be but so powerfully were. You see your history in the quiet moments, in the way they move through empty spaces, the way theyâre always there even when no one wants to look. You find comfort in their family, in the love they built around themselves despite a world that would rather take it.Â
It starts to become about your identity, about making history, about sending a message that youâre here and youâre intense and youâre gentle and your story is actually one of the most beautiful things anyone could get to see. You find inspiration, friendship, support in the people you meet along the way and the boundless creativity that suddenly surrounds you. It becomes so much more than just you. Yet through it all itâs still about this thing that you reach for when youâre sad, or happy, or bored, or scared. Itâs about this familiar thing that lets you escape, but itâs an escape to you. It becomes a way for you to be kind to yourself. It becomes a way for you to see a world that could be kind to you, if only people could see you through it.
So you have this story thatâs not a story, because no story is. Itâs you and itâs the world, like all stories itâs the way we see ourselves and the people around us, itâs the way we know each other and treat each other and shape the path of our culture and future. You have this story thatâs not a story, and youâre watching and waiting and itâs becoming clearer and clearer that itâs finally going to happen. That the only thing left is the thing youâve finally let yourself hope for, youâve finally let yourself want, because everything is telling you itâs safe. At long last, it is time.
Youâve spent your life fighting, fighting yourself and fighting the quiet, fighting what a lifetime of fighting has done to you. But it was worth it. This story thatâs not a story, these characters who have brought you comfort, fulfillment, and love through it allâ who have saved you because you saved yourselfâ are about to receive the same in return. Their story is free.Â
And then they die.
*sigh*

on one level, supernatural is a bad tv show. on another level, it is the best soap opera ever made. on a third, different level, it is an intricate tragicomedy about generational trauma. and on a fourth level, it is a true story in which the characters are real people actively affecting the plot. i could keep going. the media experience of all time.
Happy birthday to Jensen Acklesâ best imaginary friend. Happy birthday Dean Winchester!
