Different plane of existence. Maybe there's this weird, odd feeling of solidarity as he realizes who he is. And Tenna feels joy from being watched again, and from being able to have found herself too.

tenna's situation is being directly paralleled with susie when she's telling him "Even though I thought I was broken, I just needed to find the right people". mettaton IS his right people. SIMPLE AS THAT. it's about surrounding yourself with love without constantly being fixated on that love disappearing and leaving you alone. it's about trusting people won't throw you away because they see your value. mettaton LOVES tv SO MUCH. i am so uninterested in the idea that the nuance of mettatenna should come from some prescriptive, controlling mindset that YOU know better than tenna what he needs, when there are so many other interesting ways to approach mettatenna, and tenna as a character overall, that arent just trying to do the sardonyx arc from steven universe.
