And every single one of them was written as having to suck it up. They don’t grieve, they don’t have a moment to break down and mourn. Instead Jasper loses Maya, and his entire season arc is about recovering. Bellamy loses Gina (and in my opinion Raven seemed more broken by her death than him, but let’s not talk about that) and he blames everyone but himself and starts massacring innocents.

But the girls… the girls push through, they ‘suck it up’, they swallow the pain and move on. Because they are “strong”, right? I don’t know about you, but I don’t remember when strong became a synonym for robot. I don’t remember strong meaning being forced to endure pain and suffering again and again and again without being allowed to cope in a healthy, human way.
