It happens way later, after the whole "we're vaguely functional adults now" era. Arisu-verse: think a few years after meteorite + therapy, when they've been living together long enough that the apartment feels like a real home and not a bunker.

She's not a bio kid, that never felt like their route. It's a foster-turned-adoption situation: 6-7 year old girl with "behavioural issues" on her file. Too many schools, too many placements. She bites. She lies. She hoards snacks under her bed. Every adult so far has read that as "problem child."

Chishiya reads it and goes: ah, abandonment trauma, maladaptive survival skills, easy. Niragi reads it and goes: oh. that's me.

She starts as a short-term placement because their social worker makes the mistake of thinking these two are "calm" and "stable" (Chishiya is very good at interviews). She never leaves.

names/what she calls them:

Her name: something simple and sharp that sounds good when Niragi yells it and soft when Chishiya says it. I'm partial to Hana ("flower") because the irony of these two raising a Hana is delicious.

She decides unilaterally: Chishiya is "Papa" (because he's the one who fills out all the forms and goes to the doctors). Niragi is "Dad" (loud, easy, fits him).

When she's mad: "Shuntaro" and "Suguru." Both of them freeze every time.

baby/toddler era (or in their case, new-to-them kid era):

First night, she doesn't sleep in her own room. She starts there, but at 2 a.m. Chishiya wakes up to a tiny shape standing silently next to his side of the bed like a horror movie.

Hana: "Can I stay?" Niragi: half-asleep, already dragging her up between them, "Yeah, c'mere, kid." Chishiya: "You have a bed." Hana: "I had beds before." That's it. She's in their bed for weeks.

Niragi acts like he hates the kicking, the small limbs in his ribs, the way she starfishes and steals his blanket. He starts sleeping better than he has in years.

Kuro takes to her IMMEDIATELY. Always curled against her back. Follows her down the hall. Sits under her high chair and eats whatever she drops. Niragi is offended and also weirdly proud like "yeah, you picked the right kid."

She has nightmares. That's the big one. She goes rigid and small, clenches her jaw, doesn't make a sound. The first time it happens, Niragi panics, shakes her awake too hard. Chishiya quietly buys glow-in-the-dark star stickers and puts them on her ceiling with her. "So when you wake up you know where you are," he says, like it's nothing. She makes him lie on the floor with her afterward and look at them until she falls asleep.

She steals Niragi's hoodies. They go down to her knees. She refuses to give them back. Niragi grumbles, but he keeps "losing" his favourites to her side of the closet.

school-age chaos:

First day of elementary school: Hana clings to Niragi's hand hard enough to hurt. Niragi: "You don't gotta go if you don't want to." Chishiya: "She does, actually. That's how education works." Hana: "Will you be here when I come back?" Niragi: "Always." Chishiya doesn't contradict him.

Teachers are terrified of parent-teacher conferences. Chishiya shows up in a clean hoodie, polite smile, surgical questions. "You wrote here she's 'defiant.' Could you define that?" Niragi slouches in the chair beside him with eyebrow piercings and visible tattoos and the kind of stare that makes people confess crimes.

Hana gets in trouble for punching a boy in the face because he pulled another girl's hair. Teacher: "Violence is never the answer." Niragi, outside after: "Okay but sometimes violence is a pretty good answer, I'm not gonna lie." Chishiya: "You're not helping." That night, he shows her how to make a proper fist so she doesn't break her thumb next time.

The fridge list evolves. Front: groceries in Hana's messy handwriting. Back: the traditional Names, written by Chishiya in neat kanji, and... one or two additions in crayon from Hana. She doesn't know what the list means yet, just that it's "the people Papa and Dad don't like." Niragi keeps all of her additions. Chishiya edits them at night, same as always, but a few of her names stay. They both know which ones.

Kuro and Hana are a unit. She carries him around like a baby. He tolerates it only from her. If Hana's sick, Kuro is on her chest. If Hana's crying, Kuro is in her lap. Niragi pretends he's jealous. He's not. He is.

dad dynamics:

Niragi as a girl dad: Overprotective to the point of insanity. Teaches her to climb fences, pick locks ("for emergencies"), and throw a proper punch. Also: braids her hair with serious concentration, tongue peeking out, Youtube tutorial open on his phone. Lets her paint his nails. Black with little wonky stars. He wears it to the store and dares anyone to look twice.

He is the "fun parent" but also the one who will absolutely show up at school and lean against a wall staring until the kid who's been bullying her suddenly decides to transfer.

Hana: "Dad, you're scaring them." Niragi: "Good." Chishiya from the doorway. "...I'll talk to the principal. Put the switchblade away."

Chishiya as a girl dad: Calm, terrifyingly perceptive. Never raises his voice. Doesn't have to. "I'm disappointed" from him is like a death sentence. Teaches her how to cook simple stuff, how to bandage a cut, how to read people. Keeps track of all her vaccinations, dentist appointments, school forms. When she gets her first period and panics, he's just: "Bathroom. Top drawer. I'll explain." Completely unbothered, perfectly competent.

He's the parent she goes to when she wants permission for something complicated. Because she knows he'll ask six questions, then say yes... once he's removed all the variables he doesn't like.

They track her location. Both of them. Hana knows. She rolls her eyes but wears the watch anyway.

There is a moment in middle school where a teacher grabs Hana's wrist a little too hard. Hana doesn't even tell them. Chishiya notices the bruise two days later when she's reaching for the salt. The teacher is "suddenly transferred." Hana never finds out why. She doesn't ask. She's not stupid.

First crush: Hana mentions a girl in her class one (1) time and suddenly Niragi is memorising the name, the address, the family. Chishiya is the one who quietly sits Hana down and explains boundaries. "You're allowed to like people without Dad running background checks. Within reason."

They never say "we'll kill for you," but she's grown up in that apartment, she understands exactly what "we'll handle it" means, and she never abuses it.

soft domestic bits:

Movie nights: Hana sandwiched between them on the couch, Kuro on her lap, Niragi yelling at whatever dumb action flick they're watching, Chishiya scrolling his phone but still somehow following the plot better than both of them.

Tuesday evenings (pill-organiser night) turn into "everyone at the table" night. Chishiya fills Niragi's meds. Makes sure Hana takes her vitamins. Hana helps by handing him each blister pack very solemnly. It becomes a ritual.

Hana picks out a plant for the balcony, something small and stubborn. She names it "Boss." Niragi waters it religiously. Chishiya pretends not to notice that both his psychopaths are cooing over a potted thing.

teen years (because you KNOW):

14-15 hits and Hana dyes the ends of her hair something ridiculous. Niragi: "Nice." Chishiya: "If you get bleach on the towels I'm disowning you."

She comes home late once without texting. Just once. Niragi's pacing the apartment like a caged animal. Chishiya looks calm, but he's on his laptop with three different tracking windows open. When she walks in, both of them just look at her. She burst into tears, apologising before anyone says a word.

Later that night, when she's asleep, they're on the balcony. Niragi: "We're gonna fuck her up, aren't we." Chishiya: "Probably." Niragi: "...She'll still be better than we were." Chishiya "...Yes." (quiet, certain)

She starts calling them "old men" at 16. They threaten to change the Wi-Fi password. She backs down.

girl dad specific moments that kill me personally:

Hana learning how to do eyeliner from Chishiya in the bathroom mirror. Their faces side by side, him guding her wrist. Niragi watching from the doorway pretending he's not melting.

Hana falling asleep on Niragi's shoulder on the train home, headphones shared, his hand automatically tucked over her hair so she doesn't bump her head on the window.

First time she calls one of them "Dad" in public without flinching or checking anyone's reaction. Chishiya's chest does something weird. He pretends he's just winded from the stairs. He's not.

Kuro getting old, moving slower, and Hana making a big nest of blankets on the floor for him. Both dads quietly hovering, because that cat is their first kid too. They don't talk about it. They just all end up in that nest together watching TV.

bonus: who's the bigger girl dad

Everyone assumes Niragi, because he's loud about it, but honestly? Niragi: "My daughter is a princess and also will stab you." Chishiya: "My daughter is going to outlive us all." (said like a threat, meant as a blessing)

They are both absolutely ruined for anyone else's bullshit after raising her. Any hint of "cycle repeating" and they clamp down hard, on themselves, on the world around her. The yandere turns from "mine mine mine" at each other to "ours, singular, protected asset" about her.
