A little-known fact outside the walls of Wayne Manor is that Bruce Wayne has always been incapable of controlling his scent. As such, without scent patches, his innermost feelings are constantly on display.
When Dick has to return to Bludhaven after visiting for a while? Bruce’s usually warm, butterscotch scent becomes stale and heavy, dripping with heartbreak at the mere concept of his oldest pup leaving the nest again.
Jason faces the brunt of this involuntary honesty. Each time their mama turns to gaze upon his resurrected son, his scent erupts in overwhelming waves of love and awe, so potent that it’s nearly suffocating. (Jason was always thankful that his helmet filtered scents, just for this reason.)
Tim takes full advantage of their mama’s weakness by deliberately reporting to him about each successful case he cracks. There’s nothing, after all, that settles him quite like the way his mama’s scent does, when it’s filled with nothing but pride.
Cass, on the other hand, would never dare to exploit their mama’s vulnerability. Instead, she opts to wrap her arms around him as often as she possibly can, scenting him with pure, unadulterated love. And when he returns the favour by drenching her in love and adoration? She can’t help but devolve into content purrs, and truthfully, neither can he.
Duke tries, so, so very hard to avoid taking advantage of it. He really does. But… when an Omega is as smothering as their mama is, there’s no avoiding the cloud of sticky-sweet affection that wells up around him, growing in intensity and warmth with each passing day, until he’s sure the scent has melded entirely with his own.
Damian never really knows what to think of this scent-based vulnerability in their mother. On some level, he can acknowledge that it must be unpleasant, being forced to broadcast your emotions against your will. But.. on the other hand… there’s something so soothing to his basest of instincts when his mother buries his nose into his neck and breathes in his milky pup scent, only to fill the room with so much joy that his head begins to swim.
