The Words They Flow Like Melody

I’ll spend the night in black, mourning with the moon for holes between the stars and the hollow in my chest. With the wind at my back, I weather grief. It is the ache of me, that craves to be held but finds the hands of another constricting, that looks to the path I walk and wonder where I wandered– raven’s feathers fall from my back to weave into a nest, into a cavern, into a place where I can mourn and no one will have to see.

I love that her expression is like “Yes, I love you despite the fact you just puked brimstone all over the carpet.” 

there’s a misconception that grief only happens when we lose people. this is not true. we can grieve circumstances, relationships, missed opportunities. in fact, sometimes when you find yourself plagued with waves of emotion from sadness to melancholy you may be grieving yourself. the version of yourself that you might have been if things had been different, or if only you had said something, or if someone had stood up for you.

Reminder to celebrate your accomplishments! You woke up and made it through today, I think that’s pretty good!! Finally did some work that needed to be done? That’s cool! Didn’t do much and just relaxed? You deserved that! I’m proud of you!
