I loooooove getting rejected. People should reject more. It's the "maybes" and ghosting that's just like too much. A firm but polite "no" is infinitely more respectful of everyone's time and feelings. Can we just do that?
You guys know this is a pretty normal human want and not a special accomdation to be saved for people with autism right?

If you know the meaning of the word "defenestrate", do you remember how you learned it?
Yes (put it in the tags please I'm curious)

hey does anyone have that poem. about the author seeing two boys cuddling on a hotel lobby couch, where he refers to it as something like an island of safe anonymity or smth. its been 5000 years my college boyfriend had it written out and pinned to his wall
THANK YOU @witchoflight it is indeed "on traveling together" by Kayleb Rae Candrilli
Ok so lemme get this straight the boys get advertised their body weight in protein powder and girls are told to get by on uncooked foliage and I’m supposed to believe that the observed differences in gender are strictly because of sex chromosomes with no cultural influence at all uh huh sure hey buddy what kind of idiot
oh like how sarcopenia (muscle loss) and the associated osteoporosis effects women significantly more than men? and we dont really talk about why, we just assume its biological? like yes okay it has to do with estrogen but HAVE WE NOT COMSIDERED. THAT WOMEN ARE TOLD TO EAT SALADS. AND MEN ARE TOLD TO SUBSIST PURELY ON TOMAHAWK STEAKS. and then men are at a higher risk of cholesterol issues and heart failure in later age HMMMMMMM.
Imitation or flattery or something
Yeah you're right. It WOULD be pretty fucked up if you were a swan but you were raised by ducks and you grew up never seeing another swan or even knowing that such a thing as a swan even existed so you just thought you were a duck with something super wrong with it.
World Heritage Post
the club moss I got for my terrarium is dying, despite being lovingly packed into organic soil with oven-fried leaf litter and bioactive springtails and isopods, and meanwhile in my fridge my fuck ass onions are sending out bright green shoots as happy as could be in their cold dark box of fucking nothing
I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU
As dandelions to sidewalks, so onions to refrigerators.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

Yoisaki Kanade
When her dad gets sick from overwork she is distraught, her dad is her world, and the only thing left after her mum passed away. She looks for something to blame, and she blames herself, if only her composing wasn't like that, then maybe her dad wouldn't have collapsed? She gives up composing. For good. She tries instead to be 'normal' and goes to school like a 'normal' kid would.
One day in her third year of middle school she gets lost, and ends up in this place called 'Vivid Street'? Exhausted, and slightly intimidated by all the loud personalities around she ducks into what she thinks is a quiet cafe, all to find out it isn't at all quiet, it's a music venue! Still, she is tired, and so she stays to listen, having not really payed attention to any music in a couple years.
She is amazed by what she hears, street music is so different to what her and her dad had made, yet it captures her heart so…
After the performance she runs home, nervously brushes off her dad's synth, kept safe in storage my her grandma all this time, and she plays.
In all honesty, the music isn't that great, she hasn't made music in a while, and she's never made street music before, but, it warms her heart in a way it hasn't in a long while. She keeps playing.
A few weeks later she returns to Vivid Street, she heard there was a free to play performance happening, where people could just go on stage and play the music they could. She can't sing, she can't dance, but she can compose, so she goes on stage and plays the first song she had made in two years.
It doesn't raise the roof, but for a nobody composer brand new to Vivid Street, it sure does shock the audience. Maybe, just maybe, the owner of the cafe thinks, maybe she could beat that legendary event we put on…
I WROTE A THING, I'm making a pjsk swap au thats been in my head for a while and actual thing, first up! N25 is becoming VBS!!!

"comparing apples and oranges" has always been funny to me as an expression because people's go to exampe of two things so radically different that they defy any useful comparison are apples. and oranges. like you would struggle to find a more comparable pair of objects than that. theyre literally sold right next to each other in most stores.
wikipedia has a whole ass section dedicated to international variants of the idiom so let me quickly run through them
see this is even worse than oranges. pears and apples are like the most comparable things ever. france takes another L
ok so this is what i mean. these are measures of temperature and texture and are in fact not very comparable. молодцы ребята продолжаем в том же духе.
colombia wins most vivid image invoked hands down. would not want that to happen to me.
and i think we can all agree romania wins this hands down. everyone give a big round of applause to romania

americans are sooo desensitized to guns and sometimes it manifests in ways that affect your media literacy. like remember in the first episode of sherlock when john watson opens up his drawer and you see a gun in there and youre supposed to understand that this is narratively significant and conveys his suicidality as well as his willingness to skirt rules and laws but the first time i watched it i was like oh well theres his desk gun. lots of people have those
“egg egg”
This is probably a little too much nuance, but whenever I see a "all borders are violence" post (a political position I generally agree with!) I always add a little asterisk that says "*but the border checks that keep you from bringing homegrown produce into big agricultural areas to avoid the transmission of parasites and invasive species are actually fine and if we were more vigilant about that kind of thing maybe we wouldn't have spotted lanternflies in the states."
That doesn't work as well as a slogan, though
Things borders should be for:
Biosecurity
Customs management (you do not want people importing a bunch of stuff that doesn't meet your country's safety standards, for example)
Things like that one lake in Europe where three national borders coincide and they built an island specifically so you can run between countries for fun
Things borders shouldn't be for:
Policing who can and can't come into a country
