Even if he’s half asleep and Angel talks to him, he melts into a small smile before his eyes even open.

He loves hearing them talk, even though he said they talked too much in their early relationship days. Their voice travels through his ears and clears his mind, and he finds that anything he’d been stressing over disappears in an instant.

Hearing them laugh felt like heaven. Knowing they laughed because of him was enough to make his week.

Hearing the words “I love you” from their lips almost makes David tear up sometimes.

He loves their voice.

The moment they stop talking is the moment the world falls silent too.

That’s David’s greatest fear.

When their lips never utter another word. When their laugh doesn’t echo throughout the walls of their home. When he sleeps at night without an “I love you too”.

He loves looking down at Angel - it fires up that protective side of him. And when they look up at him with those doe eyes? He’s weak in the knees and turned on.

He’s got a reputation to maintain though, so he’s learnt to keep a stoic expression on his face even though his mind wanders. Angel can instantly tell what he’s thinking though, and they’ll stir up shit every chance they can get.
