yeah like as underexplored as andy and quynh’s reunion and dynamic was, there are good bones to work with. and them being immortal and having this huge devastating rift between them but also all this history and love makes it easier to digest than say two mortals who are experiencing something painful but mundane. like i would very much like to see quynh rage and andy grovel but im also team they figure it out because quynh is free and they’re together so how can they not try? idk maybe im too optimistic lol

hello! i agree with you on the appeal of seeing them figure it out especially if they had time on their side tho personally i’m more on the angstier (and, okay, bleaker) end of the headcanon spectrum :P

i guess my thoughts on the booker exile thing is, were they morally in the right to do that to him? yes absolutely. he made his choices and caused the situation and they have every reason to not trust him or want to spent time with him and even punish him. is it going to help him at all? probably not. his problems are alcoholism and clinical depression. both make you a selfish asshole for reasons that are not entirely in your control. being exiled is in fact it is going to materially be pretty devastating to him, and most likely make those things worse (which we see in the second movie, as he is arguably in an even worse state and outside of few moments of clarity, seems to not have learned anything from his alone time)

so what is the right thing to do? fucked if i know! do they want to essentially heal and need him not to be there for that? do they never want to be his family again? again, i can completely see why. if they do want to be his family still though, and want to keep him in their lives, and want him to heal, is this the best thing to do? this is why i liked the joe/nicky conflict in the second movie. joe's worry over someone he loves despite the fact that he has hurt him felt very relatable to me, a person who has had a lot of suicidal and depressed friends who have at one point or another treated me like shit. nicky's anger at joe going behind his back and at booker for making those choices that hurt all of them, also completely understandable. it is a good conflict because it is messy in realistic ways. so often there are no easy moral answers to anything
