Boston’s Yume Wo Katare!
Since opening in 2012, Yume Wo Katare has quickly become on of the most buzzest about ramen shops in the country. Known for their thicker noodles, rich tonkotsu soup, copious amounts of pork and liberal use of garlic, the bowls that Chef Tsuyoshi Nishioka ladles out in Beantown are an ode to the revered Ramen Jiro in Mita, Tokyo.
There’s a saying in Japan, “Jiro is not ramen, Jiro is Jiro”, and Nishioka-san & Ramen Lab are going to show the Big Apple why this July!
Having made the pilgrimage to Ramen Jiro a few times myself, I can tell you that we’re in for quite a treat…
The chewy noodles and plump pork pieces will be balanced out with plenty of cabbage, moyashi bean sprouts and garlic, aka “Yasai Mashi Mashi Niniku Karame”!
Also, unlike previous Ramen Lab pop-ups, Yume Wo Katare will only be offering this one style of ramen on the menu, with the option to add extra pork…
YWK is one of the few shops serving this notable and time-consuming style of ramen, and now New Yorkers will be able to experience Jiro for the first time here starting July 7th at Ramen Lab!

Time to reset
Ok, so I haven’t been to the gym since the Thursday before Father’s Day. And this blog is pretty much solid proof that I’ve been eating plenty of garbage. The crazy (not crazy) thing? Despite my pants being tight, the scale is down. It seems I’m digesting my hard earned muscle. What a waste. Time to get my shit together and get back to better habits. Aiming for 4 wods a week and eating better with carb generally only as veggies unless its rice or potatoes post wod and breakfast fruit. Gonna get through the holiday and then buckle down.
Food prep the other night. How else do nurses not eat crap all the time? And no better way to be sure I'm getting enough protein :)
A sandwich as beautiful as america? I'd think about all the regional sammich favorites of the 50 states and make a Franken-Sammich! America is the melting pot...
Cheesus H Christ, sir, you are a madman. That wouldn’t be a sandwich, it’d be a restaurant.
Oh yeah, like some kind of round bread, hollowed out and inside all the yummy regional things are layered with other kinds of bread inside. Then slice that thing like a cake, a giant sandwich cake. Oh that would be good!
Breakfast: with my favorites :) Buttery eggs, blueberries, banana, almonds. Coffee!
Desert: blueberries and ricotta square. Those blueberries were legit. The first bite of the square was stupendous. It went down hill from there but you know I ate the whole thing. Well, except for the last bite, that was for Haley.

Dinner: pibil, veggies, rice. I love you rice; soon I’ll go back to enjoying you only after a WOD. But not that’s not today. Definitely not today 🙅
Lunch: chicken kabob plate with salad and rice. Holy crap there was a lot of rice. Buttery and awesome but I gotta lay off all this carb. Life in your 30s means you wear every bite you eat 😰😰😰
