Set Mid-Series, but post French Connection and Stockholm Syndrome Capers.

According to some V.I.L.E. chatter that Player intercepted, there's meant to be something going down at a gala, in a monstrously crowded ballroom. Though Carmen searches the place up and down and finds nothing, she quickly grows overwhelmed by all the people surrounding her, blocking every possible exit. Feeling so trapped reminds her of that night in the basement in Poitiers. As her panic builds, a certain A.C.M.E. agent, who was also forewarned that something might go down, comes to her aid.

Some angst, some fluff, some hurt/comfort, with a dash of Carmen realising how messed up her life is, and a whole lot of JuleThief.

Missing scene set after Carmen's return to San Diego in "The Dark Red Caper"

It feels like she's waited forever, but Carmen's communicator pen finally buzzes with news from Chief about Gray. Carmen thought it would be clear and straightforward, either he survived, or died, but when she hears that he's alive, but no longer wants to keep in contact, it breaks her completely. Zack does his best to be there for her, because Chief's attempts at being comforting are far from helpful.
