Family: Arthas was found as a baby by a family of merchants near Menzoberranzan. Taken in as a strange, abandoned child, they originally wanted to dispose of him, but decided that he might be useful/sold into slavery for easy profit.
In the end, he grew up in the family of these Lolthsworn traders, who often ventured even above the surface. There was no love lost between him and his stepbrothers and sisters, especially because he was always picking fights but rarely facing consequences. Troublemaker from the start, but with a pretty face and charm that opened many doors (some coffins too).
Birthplace: Mantol-Derith
Job: Pre-nautiloid, he used to organize fights and smuggle contraband when he still lived in the Underdark. He barely reached adulthood when he was banished from the settlement for an especially bloody row with another man, who was killed in the fight — since Arthas had been a disruptive element for a long time, the merchants were waiting for an opportunity to kick him out, hoping he'd get killed or captured in Menzoberranzan. However, he quickly found his way to the surface and to the temple of Bhaal, where he ascended to the highest rank faster than anyone would deem possible. (Wonder why.) After the events with the Absolute, his path is much less bloody; he adventures with Astarion to take care of the vampire spawn released in the Underdark.
Arthas utilizes some of his old connections and secret routes of the merchants, serving as a link between the vampires and the drow and other inhabitants of the area. He even picks up some skills in healing and medicine and is actually helpful with patching up people, doing the real flip from the murderous progeny.
Phobias/Fears: Arthas doesn't fear much. One of his fears is becoming a slave or even a subordinate; even after the amnesia and lobotomy administered by Orin, he still craves to be a leader, not a follower — losing control is still something that scares him, and he sees that as a sign of weakness and failure that he doesn't wish to be involved with.
Hobbies: Post-game, it's definitely taking care of animals, foraging — actually learning about the Underdark's mushrooms, but also when dwelling on the surface, he loves to learn about trees, herbs, and enjoying nature's gifts 😁
Alignment: pre-tadpole Neutral Evil / post-tadpole.. ehh from True Neutral maybe even to Neutral Good, but that's questionable — he's actually quite boring to be chaotic, but he doesn't care for the laws and rules all that much either
Flaws: Cannibalism, necrophilia, murders, violence, voices in his head .. oh, but that's in the past! 😇 He can definitely be emotionally dull and not very empathetic, not understanding people's feelings or needs — not aiming to harm them, but definitely very ignorant. Rage-baiter. Can be manipulative, a gaslighter when it suits him, but as he heals, it's less and less.
Virtues: [gestures vaguely] What do you mean? He's such a sweet guy 😁 No, but he really is in the end — after he's released from Bhaal's clutches, Arthas turns out to be kind, caring, and willing to learn despite being a little stunted. He's capable of a lot of forgiveness and compassion, even if he doesn't know how to start.
