Iceman: Why are there little handprints on the walls?
Maverick, to baby Bradley: Why are there little handprints on the walls?
Bradley: Because I have little hands.
Maverick: Because he has little hands.

Ice: *speaking Russian and gesturing wildly to Mav*

Vega, The Star at the Center of Everything
Everytime Dean immediately goes âbut you had meâ when Sam slags off his childhood, not because heâs trying to defend Johns parenting (leaving a child and a toddler alone for days on end) but because heâs trying to prove he did a good job. That the child raising another child didnât fail, and John putting the responsibility of Sam on Dean from a young age was good for both of them.
(Specifically in reference to the pure crack episode in season 11 with all the imaginary friends)
spn season 1 is so funny. they made the main plot line finding sam and deanâs missing father. but like. the guys not missing. heâs just avoiding them.

@schnuffel-danny hehehe
regarding this post: from schnuffle
Donât think about malnourished baby Sammy. Donât think about little four year old Dean begging his Dad to buy formula instead of ammunition, of four year old Dean burning himself trying to warm up Sammyâs milk. Donât think about Dean waking up every couple hours after crawling into Sammyâs crib to make sure he was still breathing. Donât think of little four year old Dean who used to beg to feed his little brother his bottle, now not having another option. Donât think about baby Sammy getting sick and Dean begging John to make him a doctors appointment to make sure heâs okay. Donât think of baby Sammy learning to walk with his older brother holding his hands, of baby Sammy crying when he sees John because he doesnât recognize his own dad. Donât think of baby Sammy calling Dean dad, or the fact that Samâs first steps were towards Dean. Donât think about the fact that the doctors were worried about Samâs weight at that doctors appointment, and ever since, Dean has made sure that Sammy always had enough to eat, even at the cost to his own health.
Donât think about twelve year old Dean collapsing on the first night of a hunt because he hadnât eaten in four or five days, because Sammy needed the food. Donât think about John yelling at Dean asking what the hell is wrong with him etc. and Dean just shrugs it off. Because heâs fine. And he ignores it. He shoves the aching for food way down and ignores it. So, when they go back into town because they hit a dead end, and get food at a diner, Dean gorges on the food, and eats half of Johnâs too. Donât think about John seeing this, having a flash of worry but ignoring it because âitâs Dean heâs always fine.â Donât think about Dean worrying the first time Sammy called him Dad because âno, no, no, Sammy, Iâm your big brother Dean.â Because heâs worried that his Dad is going to freak out if he hears Sammy calling Dean dad.
Donât think about the fact that Sam probably didnât learn the word Mom until he was at school because it wasnât something his dad and Dean said. Donât think about Sam driving alone for the first time and hitting a dear and calling Dean because he didnât trust that his dad would answer. Donât think about Dean, sitting in some motel at 23 years old after a fight with his dad who stormed off debating calling Sam because heâs the only one who would get it.
Donât think about the Winchester brothers as little kids left alone in motel rooms for too long, underfed, and unsure of when their Dad was going to be back.

1.18 will never stop hurting me. john placing a loaded shotgun on the floor so itâs easier for his child to reach. shoot first, ask questions later, recited in the tone most kids use to say please and thank you. john clapping his ten year old son on the shoulder and saying âthatâs my man.â
the look, barely a step below hatred, on johnâs face when dean fails him and sam gets hurt. dean gets one sentence out before he stops arguing, realizing his father is right, he has no excuse. john cradling sammy like the baby he is and petting his hair while dean stands in the doorway and watches, knowing he has no right to even approach them. maybe thinking about the last time he was held like that, if he can even remember it.
the fact that sixteen years later, dean hasnât forgiven himself. wonât even let sam try to comfort him. Itâs all just excuses, like dean had given back then, but sams voice is drowned out by johnâs, i told you not to let him out of your sight. he sees this order from john not as a punishment, but a chance at retribution. dad will never forgive me, but maybe heâll hate me less.
