“It's 4 in the morning, is everything ok?”
"It’s…oh." James frowned, staring at Torunn on the other side of the video screen. "Guess I haven’t quite figured out the time difference between here and Asgard, yet." He was still marveling over the fact Tony had managed to rig a communications device to reach Asgard. Normally, he couldn’t talk to Torunn unless she was here…or he sent a message through someone going to the other realm. But now…there she was. Right on the other side of the screen. Looking sleepy, but gorgeous as ever.
"I didn’t mean to wake you. Really. I’m so sorry."
She is pleased that James is enthusiastic about the prospect, but Torrun peers closer up at his face the word ‘date’. She has been on earth long enough to understand the meaning of the word - it isn’t used in Asgard. What she can’t be sure about is whether the romantic connotations of its regular use are implied. She’s aware that it’s also used to mark an occasion without such a thing. And… perhaps she doesn’t know what she would prefer.
Naturally competitive, Torunn crosses her arms in a motion of challenge. “Do you not think your Commandos could handle Asgard’s mead?” Her laugh is loud in the echoing chamber of her bedroom, but it is filled with amusement, not boastfulness. “They would relish the opportunity to make Asgard proud against the warriors of Midgard.”
"They do not have explosives, however," she adds as an afterthought. Their weapons and strength was enough.
Shhh, Torunn. Shhhh. Don't think too hard on this 'date' issue. For it could mean either. Though James knows which one he would prefer it be. And perhaps, if they could sneak away from the others for a moment or two, it could be that one.
Maybe. Hopefully.
"I...I honestly don't know." He knew Asgardian mead was strong. Strong enough that it almost...ALMOST was able to get his father drunk. Almost. But the Commandos also had a very high tolerance for alcohol. Especially Dernier. "I suppose if Mom or Grandma Peggy made them leave the explosives at home it wouldn't be so bad...it would definitely be entertaining. We'd need to videotape it."
"Your dad knows our mama." "So that means we are obviously going to be /great/ friends." "So that means you obviously should let us come to your party this weekend." "And obviously we'll bring drinks." "Deal?" "Deal." "See you then~"
Exchanging a look, the twins pressed play on their voicemails listening to it for a second, third, and even forth time. There were two voices. Similar voices, but voices all the same. He was guessing their age? Maybe a bit older? For a split second they wondered how they even got their number, but in reality they didn’t think too hard about it. Their life was full of many strange things. MANY. STRANGE. THINGS.
So instead they shrugged and pushed delete. The more the merrier, right?

"We’re sorta like 7-Eleven. We’re not always doing business, but we’re always open." "Do ya know what we need, man? Some rope." "Charlie Bronson’s always got rope." "Name one thing you gonna need a stupid fuckin’ rope for." "Is that right, Rambo?" "All right. Get your stupid fuckin’ rope." "Hallelujah, Jaffar." "A penny saved is worth two in the bush, isn’t it?" "And don’t cross the road if you can’t get out of the kitchen." "Well, that certainly illustrates the diversity of the word." "For a few seconds, this place was Armageddon!" "It’s St. Paddy’s Day, everyone’s Irish tonight. Why don’t ye just pull up a stool and have a drink with us?" "Let’s do some gratuitous violence." "Y’mean… blonde? California, surfer boy, gay, gay, gay blonde?" "Ding Dong Motherfucker! Ding Dong!" "I thought you said your car was ‘inconspicuous’?" "Who ordered the whup ass fajita?" "Thanks for comin’ out!" "How the fuck would you know that?" "Fuck you! I know shit!" "A .22? Oh you’ve gotta be kidding me. That’s like bringing a knife to a gunfight." "There was a firefight!" "Don’t you think that’s a little weird, a little psycho?" "That was way easier than I thought." "I can’t believe that just fucking happened!" "Is it dead?" "We should come down here once a week and clean house." "Well, we’ll have to check with your mom. But it’s okay with me if your friends sleep over." "Oh really! I might just be wanting a bagel with my coffee." "Good shooting, shitty shooting." "I ain’t getting him no fucking bagel." "Why don’t you get me a cup of coffee? Cafe latte. Twist of lemon. Sweet ‘N Low."

"I didn’t mean to wake you. Really. I’m so sorry."
"As do I. It’s certainly advantageous. If only I could throw my sword as my father throws Mjolnir. We must spar again when I arrive." It was always fun to do so. James had been trained to do so under the guidance of his parents, as she had. Though he didn’t possess the same Asgardian strength, he was skilled. It usually led to boasting and bickering, but only of the friendly kind.
Torrun doesnt really consider the prospect of actually sleeping in James’ room, but she wouldn’t dislike the idea if it were to be proposed. She was just pleased with the prospect of being reunited, even though they’d not been parted all that long.
The Commandos, as James called them, certainly sounded like the Warriors Three, though she knew there were more of them than that. They were far more childlike than she was, at times. “Have they met father? They sound as if they would get along with he and the Warriors.” Knowing them, they would likely suggest a drinking match.
Boasting, bickering, and really close physical contact. These were all things that James could get behind when it came to the princess of Asgard. So yes. Sparring was definitely a go. "Definitely. It's a date."
But not an actual date. No. No. Not that. I mean, it could be. Yes. But he'd prefer their first actual date not end with her knocking him on his ass. And he had no doubt she would. Damn you, Asgardian Strength.
No. He supposes they weren't. Just a few months. But it still seemed like a really long time. And though he had already made his parents promise he could go to Asgard this summer, an inbetween visit certainly wouldn't hurt.
"I..." James frowned, thinking about that. "I think it's best for everyone that they don't meet. Drinking competitions and explosions seem like a bad idea. And the Commandos are ALWAYS packing explosives."

"Yes. I have been remiss in my training. I much prefer fighting by sword." She shrugged. "But it is necessary to learn." Torunn perks up at the mention of her father’s friend. "We shall. Do you like it?"
Torunn’s eyes flicker to what she can see of his room, illuminated in the dark. She has been in it once or twice, she thinks, on visits to the house, but she can’t recall a great deal of it. She would like to see what his place of comfort says of him.
"They have, but father knows when they lie for me." A cheeky grin sets in place. "But sometimes not until afterwards. They are protective, but not always… responsible. Much like the friends of your parents, I believe."
"I do. I mean I like hand to hand better. You know...like Dad and Uncle James, but I can kind of see the advantage of having some distance. Plus his arrows do really cool shit." Like explode. God help them if the Commandos ever got their hands on Clint's exploding arrows. Though, to be honest, they probably had. And Clint had probably just handed them over.
Maybe. Just maybe. Since this time there will be no parents about, she'll get to see his room proper. As in...staying in it proper. He knows Sarah will have Bo staying in her room (or she'll go back and stay at Bo's) so why shouldn't he do the same.
The part she can see right now is, sadly, not all that exciting. Mostly his headboard and the few pillows he keeps on the bed. His dark blue sheets just kind of blend in with the darkness. But she'll see it good and proper soon.
"The Commandos? Yeah. They're super protective, but they're also kind of really big enablers. Have been ever since we were little. I think they used to have more fun with our toys than we did."
“It's 4 in the morning, is everything ok?”

Torunn would gladly sit through his Chemistry lesson, purely out of interest of Midgardian knowledge of the elements. It would certainly not be a good idea in actuality, given a propensity for making corrections and perhaps one to boast of Asgard’s advances. “Have heart. You will be one day closer to the weekend after the day is through. — And, I have archery practice this morning.” Her nose wrinkles in apparent distaste.
She traces a line down the side of James’ face on the screen, happy to see the happiness on his face, even at such late an hour.
"Ah. It is impossible to hold gatherings in the palace without my father’s knowledge. The guards tell on me," she complained with bubbling laughter. "I will, then. I miss Sarah too."
Hey. If she ever wants to, James is more than happy to have her tag along. She would love to explain High School to her. He'd just have to make sure Sarah didn't steal her away to begin explaining the intrapersonal relationships of midgardian teenage females. He did not need his sister absconding with his lady love and taking her to the mall.
Though....sharing a pretzel in the food court could be fun. Maybe they'd go when she was here.
As a group. Sarah could bring Bo. And maybe get Alex and Henri to come. Oh god. But then Sarah would probably start on how Alex and Henri needed to hook up. At least it would get her off of him and Torunn? He didn't need any extra pressure.
"I will keep that in mind. Archery, huh? Clint's been taking me to the range. We'll have to compare notes when you're here." This was nice. More than nice. He was gonna have to thank Tony again for these.
"What? You mean the Warriors Three won't cover for you? For shame!" He grinned and readjusted, leaning back against his pillows. "And here I thought Fandral would be all about parties..."

"I didn’t mean to wake you. Really. I’m so sorry."
"On a… " A crease appears on her brow as she attempts to work out the difference in times and dates. Before she and James had devised this way to communicate she’d had no need to consider gaps in space and time between them. "Sunday?" Eyebrows rise in anticipation of confirmation.
His sentence is left hanging. Just what? He’s calling her at midnight, and she can see that he’s sitting on his bed. It warms her heart to know she is thought of at such late an hour.
The smile returns at the offer, over which she clasps her hands in excitement. “Oh, yes! I would love to attend.” Her voice lowers dramatically. “Your parents are unaware of these plans, aren’t they?”
"Sunday." He nodded, confirming her calculations. "Which means school in 8 hours. Have I mentioned lately how jealous I am that you don't have to suffer through Chemistry?" He grinned. Somehow he always grinned like an idiot when talking to her.
One day he was going to admit his crush on her. ONE DAY.
But probably not today.
"They are. That's usually how it is. Not that my parents would be against it. Just...then whatever Commandos weren't going on the trip would be dispensed as chaperones and we're kind of hoping to avoid that. You can stay with us, if you want...Sarah's just as psyched to have you here."
“It's 4 in the morning, is everything ok?”

"I didn’t mean to wake you. Really. I’m so sorry."
A bright smile cuts through James’ apologies, despite her sleepiness. To see a familiar face from Midgard is always a welcome sight, particularly his face shining in the darkness from the handheld device she had been gifted by Tony Stark. Pulling her sheets around her, Torrun sits up properly.
"I had planned to rise in an hour, James. You aren’t bothering me at all. Everything is okay, is it not? What time is it where you are?”
"Around midnight." So he'd be falling into bed about the time Torunn was planning on rising. But only because it was a school night. If it was still the weekend, he'd be at least two and a half/three hours off from falling into bed. It was a rite of passage...a badge of honor...seeing just how long one could stay awake on the weekends.
Not to mention, the really good games of Call of Duty with his "uncles" didn't start til 1 or 2am. Playing war games with the Howling Commandos? BEST. THING. EVER.
"And yeah. Everything's fine. I just..." Missed you. He missed her. He always missed her when she was on Asgard. But like he was going to say that. "I was wondering what you were up to next weekend. It's Memorial Day so my parents are going to DC with some of the Commandos and...you know...Sarah and I were thinking party. Wanna come?"
“It's 4 in the morning, is everything ok?”

“It's 4 in the morning, is everything ok?” //uncle CONCERNED JIM MORITA IN THE HOUSE
Okay? No. They were. Everything was great. Until a certain Uncle happened to drop by and now Sarah was going to have to explain WHY a certain German SHIELD agent was over at the house while her parents were in Wakanda.
Crap. Crap crap crap.
"Yep. Everything’s peachy. Thanks, Uncle Jim." As Sarah attempts to close the door in his face. You know, the universal teenage action for ‘I’m hiding something — possibly a boy’.

“I think the house is spinning.”
“So, we'll try again and eventually we'll get it right.”
“Not a very exact science, is it?”
“I'm trying to tell you I love you.”
“I can be perfect for you.”
“I miss the pain.”
“Nothing's real.”
“I didn't know you had a brother.”
“He's been dead 16 years.”
“This is fucked.”
“I know you're hurting. I am, too.”
“Can you tell me what it is you're afraid of?”
“Can I touch you?”
“Are you wanting all that she can't give?”
“I am the one who won't walk away.”

“Are you nervous?”
