but why is it that when people talk about internalized misogyny it's always girls who hate on girls who are super feminine and never girls who mock other girls for not wearing makeup or having visible body hair? i dont think girls who think they're not like most girls are the #1 enforcers of patriarchy

right bc the first happens a lot online but girls like the latter come out in droves irl. esp the body hair thing like, I’ve never been anywhere where that would be acceptable around other women. even without the presence of men

yeah, very true. imo girls who distance themselves from other girls and think they're better than them for not being girly are mostly harming themselves because it builds an identity on isolating away from other girls their age ; but they're not bullying, mocking, and harassing specific girls in real life. no girl has ever been ostracized by her popular gnc classmates for liking glitter nailpolish, but i remember little girls as early as elementary school being ruthlessly mocked in locker rooms for having visible body hair. and we cant ignore that a huge thing that can lead a young girl to feeling "not like other girls" is... being ostracized by other girls in the first place. no one should look down on young girls no matter what they wear or like, but we shouldnt make girls who dont like feminity and feel alone and alienated from their peers the face of misogyny
