This is not an opinion that people will like but I think that serious discussions in fandom spaces would be 1000% less toxic if people kept an esteemed person's "gen only" rule of engagement.

Reasoning: No One can trust that an argument that *does* involve shipping is an argument made in good faith, because ship-bashing is something that people will go to extreme lengths to both do, and deny. And that isn't even taking into account that people will bash shippers in general because of the perceived association with women. It's basically a buzzword.

Meanwhile, I don't think that there is a single issue in fandom spaces that is in fact wholly contained within shipping, therefore, there is no reason to single it out. Problems that crop up within the context of shipping can be addressed as a part of a broader category, and should be, specifically because that context unnecessarily and uniquely provokes misbehavior and intrusion from extremely obnoxious people.

Therefore, if your issue cannot be re-phrased without mentioning shipping, it needs to be worked on until it is.

they filmed it with linda hamilton's actual real life twin, and did it this way so that they could have a dummy stand in for arnold in the foreground, allowing them to convincingly pull the cylinder out of his skull while he talks them through it in the "mirror"
