Number of books you’ve read so far: 33!

Best book you’ve read so far in 2026: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I'm very late to the party but omg, amazing book!

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2026: That has to be The Dark Prophecy, by Rick Riordan. I was starting to lose hope after the disappointment that were The Hidden Oracle and Magnus Chase, but this book slaps so hard. I'm super happy to be fully on board with this series again.

New release you haven’t read yet but want to: I have no idea what to answer here. I was waiting for one book release this year, and that was The Secret World of Briar Rose by Cindy Pham. It came out and I read it (and let me tell you, it's amazing). I can't think of any other book release I'm waiting for, I'm usually pretty disconnected.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year: As I said, no idea.

Biggest surprise favourite new author (debut or new to you): I was really surprised by how much I liked You Don't Have a Shot by Racquel Marie, so I'm willing to read more from the author in the future.

Newest fictional crush favorite character: After much thinking, that has to be Maysilee Donner from Sunrise on the Reaping. From the moment she appeared I didn't care what Haymitch said, I knew she was a queen. Honorable mentions include: Isabeau Agarwal from Murder at Spindle Manor, Evelyn Hugo from The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Malicine from The Secret World of Briar Rose.

Book that made you cry: I'm gonna go with the "crying from laughter" definition and I'm going to say Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto. One of the funniest books I've read in my life.

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received): This year I discovered a queer bookshop in my city and I bought some comics there! The one with the prettiest cover has to be The Tea Dragon Society by K. O'Neill (I still haven't read it).

Book that made you happy: I'm going to go with Garlic & the Vampire by Bree Paulsen. I was waiting for something bad to happen and then it didn't and I was very happy.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year? I guess I should read the comics I bought which are The Dragon Tea Society by K. O'Neill and Cheer Up! Love and Pompoms by Crystal Frasier, Val Wise & Oscar O. Jupiter.

I scrolled through the notes on this post and my favorite has to be one mockingly accusing Madeline Miller (a Latin and Greek teacher with a Masters in Classics) of needing to do research and she wasn’t a real writer like them.

Anyway when I read that line I immediately understood what she was trying to say.
