“Jesus Christ- Al?” 

She couldn’t believe it- there he was. Of course- even if things had gone sour near the end- she didn’t want anything bad to happen to him. He WAS her husband for a long time. Just things got rough.

“I was starting to worry that I’d never  see you again.”

“Gotta start somewhere,” she agreed, pulling out her laptop.

It wasn’t long before her search found something. A woman had been found murdered inside her apartment. Neighbors never recalled any sort of disturbance the night before nor could they think of any possible suspects, but she was a night owl; so she was gone more often than home when they were – her choice of vice left to the imagination.

“…Police were asking for help. Will pay for any legit leads, yada, yada, yada. Your typical unsolved murder of the discarded members of society.”

None of that was that out of the ordinary, but what Sydney found after hacking into their local precincts files was. The woman’s tongue had been ripped out, causing her to asphyxiate; choking on her own blood. Not only that, but whoever had done this left a calling card. A snake eating its own tail, forming a circle.

“The ouroboros. And it happened only twenty miles from here,” she finished, watching Sam read the last few lines of the report. “That can’t just be coincidence.”

    As she started to read it aloud, Sam made his way over to her, and leaned over peer at the report over Sydney’s shoulder. It all sounded pretty typical of their sort of cases. Except for the last part. When she was finished, he stood up straight and sighed. But no- she was right, coincidences just didn’t happen in this life. Their case that also matched with that case? There had to be more. Sam started to pace the room while he thought on his.    

  “When was that report from? Maybe we could see    what else has happened in the surrounding area?    Any else similar- or any cases of weird happening    around here?”

He paused in his tracks as he went to pick up his phone, and jacket.

Sam tried to defend himself, or at the very least, the way he’d been acting. But he didn’t want Dean to worry- they had more than enough trouble on their plate that he didn’t need to add to it. 

“Besides, what happened to  ‘no Chick-flick moments’ huh?”
