another nefarious and annoying creature. he is from Other Pale Tree but got kicked out and thrown in a river and is now lying about being an ambassador from there instead of admitting he did some crimes.
Another take of my Fern boy 😏 Isn't he pretty?
If you want to see all my drawings, there's a tag for you #szarotkova_art
"Well? What are you staring at? Do I have something in my teeth?"
Eyyy it's the long awaited Mael skeleton form ref! How many refs does he even need? Yes. The answer is yes. You can tell my main syndrome is terminal.

Additional design notes ⬇️
I try not to fall into the "I never liked their work anyway" ditch when an artist/creator reveals themself to be a terrible person
BUT
a feeling I do have and will stand by is "While I enjoyed their work overall I did have some gripes that I overlooked out of affection and whimsy, but now that my loyalty is gone and my affection tainted there is nothing holding me back from enumerating my many grievances, to which the revelations of the creator's shittiness may or may not provide a new and infuriating context."
#such a good summation of this actually#because yeah there’s usually things that were always present#but which were easy to overlook or give the benefit of the doubt#that suddenly become relevant after a revelation about the creator#and it’s really not the same thing as the self-defensive “’I never liked it anyway’

GW2 news again! Off the back of their Live-stream Not a lot this time but tl;dr
Confirmation they intend to work on GW2 expacs (with the same current annual release schedule they have had for SOTO/Janthir/VoE) after GW3 is released
They'll be addressing each area of the game for modernisation and other changes from Core, then going through expac to expac, with a schedule of 1.5-2 months between each of those releases for the next year (or 18 months not sure, think they are counting from now and not from when VoE concludes)
They later addressed their intention to finally explore some lingering plot threads that have been hanging in the air for a long time for future GW2 expacs
They said that GW2's version of the Hall of Monuments would be a mix of stuff that applied retroactively and required you to replay it, albeit with very loose non-committal language to one or the other
The dev teams are completely separate for each game. This is a relief for me because I remember how rough Living World releases could be back in the day, when development teams were different between each release and there was a distinct disconnection and clear lack of communication between them. Nice to know GW2 & 3 probably won't have that
Trying to think of the lingering plot threads too… All that comes to mind is:
The Charr Imperators that were implied to be up to something (Janthir epilogue)
Torment, at a stretch
Some Dwarves resurfaced but seemed to immediately get forgotten (perhaps by design) and by extension the Underground that Primordus destroyed and caused Asura to flee from is potentially open for exploration again
Malyck
Foefire
Wwwwhere's the Nightmare Court?
Bangar
Norn can return to the Far Shiverpeaks with the absence of Jormag
Where's my Itzel tonic?
Wonder if there's other stuff?

PALE TREE HEALING ARC PLEASE
Imo it's a near-certainty we'll see a story involving the Pale Tree's recovery. :D They've been teasing her state for several chapters now - after how they hadn't touched her story for years post-Mordremoth, it would be strange if they chose to drop the story thread a second time.
This is pure speculation, but I also think there's a fair chance we see Malyck again, given one of the devs (I believe Matthew, though don't quote me on that, in case I'm misremembering) has stated a few times over the years how he loves the Malyck storyline they originally had for HoT (that they had to cut for time), and would like to include the character in some way in the future (there's info about this on Malyck's gw2 wiki page).
And because I love speculation cycles like these (I had so much fun during those months leading up to HoT's original launch), if Malyck returns, my two (favorite) guesses for how he might return are:
As a new side-story during the HoT "refresh" portion during the gw2 "polishing" part of the dev cycle they announced Saturday, where they plan to go through expac in order to add some new things (the example they gave giving the revamped Zhaitan fight!)
Reintroduced during this future Pale Tree recovery arc.
If the second one happens, I have such feels about how the interaction between him and Caithe might be. I actually haven't played the Caithe portion of Malyck's personal story - I've tried but I always end up choosing the Trahearne/Amaranda the Lonesome path lmao - I'm curious how they'd treat any potential dialogue differences there, for players who have played Malyck's storyline.
For players who chose the Trahearne path, can you imagine what the two of them might say about Trahearne? ;__;
Those are my guesses, but I hope people will continue speculating during these interim months, as I love reading fan speculation theories. :D
Edit: I could also see them tying in more about the Nightmare Court with the Pale Tree's recovery. While I'd likely be less interested in a saccharine reconciliation (which I can always have otherwise in fanworks ;p ), my guess is this might be the direction they take if they reintroduce the Court, given what Chrysanthea's dialogue at the end of HoT implied. It's the natural conclusion to their arc given what they chose for HoT.

Working out some design stuff for my Soulbeast
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

A little, messy, last minute Nefari for mermay!
Eldritch siren 🫧🩻👁️
I wanted to do a little something for mermay with a little monster design! She’s lightly inspired by my OC Ekānta and a very old mermaid piece I did in 2019! All around was a fun idea to revisit!
Back to regular scheduled art pile to share, then it’s artfight prep time!
love when ocs grab you by the shoulders and tell you something essential to their lore without you getting a say in it
Slowly making my way towards mermay…
“Haha remember when murder-hornets were gonna be a thing? What a nothingburger.”
Yes, because the Washington state government activated like a sleeper-cell and ruthlessly, systematically hunted them down and annihilated them.
“Y2K came to nothing amirite?”
Yes because an army of software engineers working around the clock, losing sleep, and busting ass till the last minute prevented it from happening.
“Remember the hole in the ozone layer?”
You mean the one that was fixed through rigorous world wide government action?
One of the root problems of our society is a refusal or inability by media to articulate that all those “it’s gonna be an apocalypse” disasters were not disasters because we collectively did something about them.
The good news is this is actually quite correctable. I maintain my firm belief that we as humans are capable of solving almost all of our problems, when we decide to do so.
And I still think that’s going to happen. I don’t know when or how, but I do know that abandoning hope won’t help bring it about.
And I refuse to let the cynics own a chunk of my heart.

"why is the character like that" >look inside character >it's the author's subconscious attempt to love themself
this is meant positively by the way. sometimes you love the character so much you end up putting a piece of yourself in it to learn how it is to love yourself without realising and thats ok.
