I don't like the clarification that most likely no one died during the fire. Let Lenore unintentionally kill in the name of love. It would add some drama and spice.
(especially if she had said outright she didn't really care about potential victims, because these maids and butlers treated her like a wild animal they had to keep an eye on so why should she care when they don't)
I really don’t understand why this is a bad thing.
Lenore just wanted to be free, not a heartless killer
If she could avoid any causalities, she would at least try.
Just bc she potentially despises the maids for how they treated her, it don’t mean that she would want them dead.
It's not exactly a bad thing, but it feels like lowering the stakes and trying to justify Lenore at the last moment even though none of the readers blamed her.
Yes, she wanted to be free and save Annabel, and wasn't it logical in her situation to want it too desperately to think about the safety of her jailors? There's a big difference between wanting them dead and not worrying if something happens to them because there are more important priorities.
I don't need her to be a heartless killer, I was completely satisfied when this question remained open: maybe someone died in the fire, maybe not. That's not the point, the point is that Lenore was willing to take any risk to escape. Any risk.
At the end of the first season, we had "Lenore is ready to burn the whole world to the ground and risk innocent people to get to Annabel and even though it terrifies Annabel, she's charmed by that because no one has ever done something like this for her before." But now its more like "Lenore waited an extra month to keep the staff she doesn't like safe thus risking losing time because by the time Leo arrived Annabel could have already let someone beat her at chess". I wonder why we like the first option more huh.

alright pros of this flashback sequence:
shows how Lenore has actually thought through her Leo disguise. gives further evidence to annabel's expectations for her in nevermore. shows a little more of the relationship between ira and anabel.
cons:
we already know that Anabel says yes to the proposal, so a lot of the second episode is just building up to her sweeping back a strand of hair. also more 'this is crazy' complaints that we already heard from Anabel when they first reunited.
wasn't sure if I wanted to make this its own post since I really just wanted to hear your thoughts. personally, I think the flashback could've ended after the first part, but it is nice to know Lenore didn't kill anyone lol.
Yeah this flashback could definitely fit into one episode. It doesn't help that we waited a week longer for the previous ep only for it to turn out to be a filler. I mean yes of course I understand-problems with the schedule and deadlines; a story like Nevermore takes a huge amount of time and effort; webtoon can go fuck itself etc etc but I just see where this frustration comes from. We've known for a long time that Annabel would wear pearls, why escalate a non-existent intrigue?
I think another problem is that wild hunt arc was full of action and generated a lot of new subplots, none of which have been developed yet. Fans have a lot of questions, and we're wasting our time to watch Lenore makes sad puppy dog eyes because, "oh no why didn't Annabel wear pearls". Berenice has a deal with the devil, Will died, and Duke still hasn't read the letter, but hey look Annabel is calling Lenore crazy again and Lenore is bragging about it.
I mean. What I'm trying to say is. They are the main characters of course they should be given more attention than the rest but I'm hungry for something new, not getting stuck on an already established dynamic for the umpteenth time (okay, "umpteenth time" is an exaggeration but you get the idea)
I can only assume that Rnf are feeding us lennabel chemistry in flashbacks because they won't have scenes together in the main timeline for some time, since Lenore... doesn't feel very well.

why turn back then you can turnabout
either Ira trusts his daughter's intelligence and equanimity a lot, or he is desperate to marry her off so much that he is ready to go to any potential scandal.
I see what you're getting at, Annabel.
And I can't blame her.
I remember doubting Lenore's plan to pretend to be her non-existent cousin and I was sure she hadn't thought of a lot of little things. And then they give us this scene.
Not only she writes a letter in advance, faking her father's handwriting, but also calculates a realistic distance from the door?? Besides she actually has unknown cousins that she could pretend to be because of the cold relations in the family???
Lenore is known for her impulsiveness-the last time this woman ran away from home she was caught in a storm and I bet she barely had any supplies and money with her. But she's learning from mistakes, especially now that the well-being of another person, a very important person, depends on her plan.
Could this behavior be the reason why Nevermore!Annabel was so sure that Lenore would definitely figure out how to get them out of the academy? Because Lenore she remembers was actually far-sighted and attentive to small things, and despite her quick temper she took her planning seriously?
But then something made Annabel change her mind. Or perhaps someone.

I saw your mood board and was interested to know your thoughts on Eulabel?
Hi!
To be honest I don't have any special emotional attachment to them. I just really like rarepairs and crackships in general, and Eulabel look nice together.
As for their chemistry it would be great for Annabel to have someone as open and spontaneous as Eulalie around. They can both be very passionate but Annabel constantly looks back at the people`s opinions so as not to seem "too much." There is no such problem for Eulalie though. There's as much of her as she wants. Such loud sincerity annoys Annabel but imagine that it's about envy. Imagine Annabel looks at this strange, open-minded girl and dreams of having at least a drop of the same courage (which Eulalie does not consider courage at all).
Now imagine how Annabel initially listens to Eulalie`s chatter out of politeness, not paying much attention to her words (like in a Christmas special) but eventually realizes that Eula is very intelligent so Annabel finds herself thinking listening her is interesting. If we talk specifically about Nevermore, Annabel, when communicating closely with Eulalie, would very quickly realize the paranormal detective is quite a valuable asset in the afterlife academy. She wouldn't underestimate my girl!.. Okay at first she would, but AFTER SOME ACTION TOGETHER–
Annabel is much more socially adaptive than Eulalie. Anyone who dared to call Eula "weird" would instantly be gracefully silenced by Annabel (while Eulalie wouldn't even immediately realize that they were trying to bully her). This is Annabel's love language. She is very protective about her loved ones.
Not to mention that Annabel seems to have a very sensitive view of friendship. She and Eulalie may be on opposite sides of morality, but she would understand Eula`s idea of "friends don't leave friends behind".
You’re very eloquent and I admire that
Have a nice day~~~
omg wow thanks a million!! it's ironic I can't find specific words to express how flattered I am 😅 but your message made me very happy!
say what you might about the man's intelligence but he DOES have his degree in monty-ology. Monty is, in fact, highly resistant to replacing him
So. Still no Morella`s reaction about Ada's withering. Huh.
I understand why. We have so many Chekhov guns and reserves for further subplots that there is no room for many little things, especially if these little things do not critically affect the global plot. But you kind of expect someone like Morella to be very disturbed by the spiritual death of two of her friends at once. The last time they met with Ada, they had a fight and it never came up again.
Their friendship was something special. The implication was that apart from Morella, no one cared about Ada. Now in the season two, posh gang is worried about their teammate, while Morella doesn't even look at her. And I'm glad to see the acolytes are genuinely caring (as they can), but what about my girly girls morellada??
I wonder if there are any servants left in the house who might have known Lenore by sight. It hasn't been long since she was "exiled" from society.
Could this be another reason why Lenore tensed up when she heard Nessa's name? Well apart from Annabel's obvious teasing about their pearl code.

Lenore, you don't understand, she's going to wear sapphires because they remind her of your eyes.
Not much to say about the new episode but Lenore is stunning
There's something about the way she's drawn in these chapters that makes me melt. She's different, but gods.
Also yeeeaaah I understand why Lenore looked in the mirror and saw Theo there.
