French-Iranian author and illustrator Marjane Satrapi, best known for the book and film âPersopolisâ, has died of "sadness", members of her
This one hurt, her work had such a profound effect on my life, thoughts, and politics.
May her memory be a blessing
Repose en paix, dear Marjane Satrapi (1969-2026).
You were my goal during my teenage years. Photographs by Rahi Rezvani đ¤
ngl some of these posts sound shortsighted so iâm pulling out the Marjane Satrapi quote:
"You are American, I am Iranian, we donât know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you."

I had a meeting today about a product that I thought was supposed to be just a network discovery tool but is actually an insane (positive) security tool. The guy demoing the product brought up his CEO and another product the CEO had made and it raised a little flag in my brain so I searched the CEO and found his Twitter and realized I shared a table at a wedding with him in 2009 and had had a conversation with him about the earlier product when it was being developed.
Infosec is a small world and i got this job through an infosec friend so this isn't the first time this has happened but it always amuses me when it comes up.
This is like when I was researching a cloudflare outage and realized i took a series of photos of their Security Lead beating someone with a bag of craisins in a hotel that shut down in 2015.
Warrior from enemy tribe: "Do not worry, we are safe. No human could throw a spear with enough force to seriously injure us at this distance."
Jeff Atlatl, about to unveil his new invention:
in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Minersâ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to âencourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community [âŚ] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.â
Another!
I glued the threads in place to start this time which definitely helped. Still having trouble finding the best way to tie them at the end and keep the braids

I do not care about boomers and their property tax. If you can't afford your property tax it's because your house value is too high, which means you're rich.
Oh no you might have to move (and make a million dollars in the process). As a renter I fully expect to have to move several times in the next few years, and I won't get to keep my old place's value

i love writing out numbers and then putting them in parentheses like "one (1)" even when i dont need to i think its funny
nods thoughtfully. I hadn't even considered it. am I a bad person?
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as âproblematicâ in class and our professor was like, âThatâs cool, but âproblematicâ doesnât really mean anything. It means that the thing youâre describing has a problem, and in and of itself thatâs not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else itâs not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like youâre trying to say that this is bad, but you donât want to say âbad.â Is that right?â
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the âbadâ thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, âIâm uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.â
Once we stopped calling things âproblematicâ and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, âthatâs racistâ or âthatâs misogynisticâ or âew capitalism grossâ out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, âUhhh... Iâm not sure whatâs so bad?â and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I canât help but think of this professor being like, âGood starting point, now letâs get specific.â I think when we have to commit to saying âthatâs ___â it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever weâre claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes itâs art, and it should be full of problems, because thatâs what art is.
lil wayne or wathever

This sick bleach shirt I made. Something to showcase my undying love for prehistoric cave art.
Some of the bleach burned thru the shirt bc this was my first time bleaching anything ever, but it kinda adds to it.
I'm imagining a world where RPGMaker somehow made it as the de facto codebase for software and you have to navigate your banking app by walking around in a huge room full of NPCs named "make deposit" and "make withdrawal" etc and there's loud as fuck stock music playing
