I just finished a Japanese restaurant tutorial today.

It is a bit complex and I loved getting lost in the details. Also, I tried to vary the colour to show the age of the structure. Plus, there is a cat called Momo in the front. 😁

I also did a tutorial of irises and , I’m not sure what the pink flowers are? Anyone know?

Anyway, spring is just around the corner I’m sure of it.

Just completed a one point perspective tutorial. Generally, most of my commissions are in this perspective. The trick is to make the piece come alive even if it is front on.

I thought I would talk about my paint today.

Usually I use two different brands of watercolor paint, Holbein and Daniel Smith. Holbein was the first set I got, then I started getting into Daniel Smith after that. Not sure if I will continue to collect Daniel Smith paints going forward. 😊

Both are great quality paints.

Holbein watercolours has been around for about 100 years and is a Japanese brand. Their paints are highly pigmented and very easily re-wet.

Daniel Smith watercolours has been around since 1976 and is named after the founder, Daniel Smith. The brand is made in America.

This is the reason I may revert back to my collecting Holbein.

What do you think? Should I only stick to the non-American brands? Should I try to source Canadian made paints?
