After ep 5 of Mighty Nein everyone seemed to be comparing Caleb to Roy Mustang but all I could think was that he would make an absolutely devastating Avatar of the Desolation.
Also I wouldn’t say that they are alike in the ways people often say characters are basically the same, but I think Caleb Widogast and Agnes Montague would have a pretty fascinating conversation if they ever had coffee together.
starting my lifelong collection of pictures of cats in ukrainian folk clothing now.
love these

the thing about murderbot is not that it's a private name. how could it be: it's not a name. murderbot is what murderbot calls itself and it's not a name any more than dumbass is my name even though if you accessed my brain logs and saw my very rational thoughts negative self talk you might think so
"it calls itself murderbot" / "that was private"
what's private is not murderbot. what's private is that it calls itself anything at all
Ukrainians: supporting russian products pays for the missiles that target civilians. Stop doing it. Stop spreading russian propaganda.
Westerners: BUT NOT ALL RUSSIANS
But have you checked? Have you checked none of their relatives were actively participating in killing Ukrainians? Be it serving in the army or building drones and missiles? Or even consuming the propaganda and calling Ukrainians nazis, when they are the nazis, like the literal definition of the word? Have you checked where they donate their money? Have you traced where their taxes go? Ukrainians did. Ukrainians, me in particular, check every post, every artist, in case they are russian or support them. We do the work for you, we tell you - stop paying ruzzians to kill our children - and you ignore it.
Honestly, I had a community I played online games with, but I left them because they started protecting russians who LITERALLY SAID IN PUBLIC CHAT derogatory things (in ruzzian of course, never in English), and everyone ignored me. Or, rather, they got defensive with NOT ALL RUSSIANS.
And we are called xenophobic. We. People who live through active war. Refugees, people who live days without electricity, water, and warmth. Children who are unable to go to school, because ruzzians destroyed it the evening before. People are scared to visit a hospital, because ruzzians target them constantly. Even a fucking mall - if there are a lot of people, and ruzzians send a missile - there will be a lot of casualties, it happened multiple times. Or when people are killed in their own homes, in beds, because ruzzians shelled the still sleeping city.
Even outside of Ukraine, I still get very nervous in crowds. I flinch when the helicopter passes by. Any loud noise? I'm jumping from fright, and my heart is racing. Fireworks? I want to be a small kid to cover my ears and scream (I'm preparing myself very hard for the holidays, because here they start fireworks like 25th of December and stop at 2nd of January, last year I went to hospital because I was pressing the earplugs so hard into my ear, they damaged the nerves there, and I was throwing up for three days straight. Yes, there is a law against fireworks. No, police gives no fucks, as per usual)
But sure. As always, it's just our problem, our trauma, and the world cares more for fear to appear non-inclusive than to actually listen to victims. Or, what is more scary, the world simply does not care.
Here's a hot take that is actually pretty damn lukewarm: if you boycott israel, israeli artists and products and companies that sponsor the genocide one way or the other, you can and should boycott russian companies, artists and companies that sponsor russian genocide in Ukraine. In fact, it would be hypocritical of you not to do so.
But it's always this anti-imperialist pacifist that I see reposting russian art and buying russian shit¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯
Some time ago I saw a video of, if I remember correctly, russian woman in Ireland who said about domestic violence levels going down in russia because men are sent to war in Ukraine. Today I saw a video of American woman talking about the same video. And both have comments like "a win is a win", "whatever it takes", "good for them". WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE????? Yeah sure, fix the levels of domestic abuse in russia at the expense of lives of Ukrainians. Ukrainian women are assaulted by russian soldiers, but a win is a win, right? What the fuck!!!!! I just can't wrap my head around this, how can you hear about russian men going to kill Ukrainians and think "good for russian women"
I wonder if those snarky "misandrists" would be just as excited and happy if their country were invaded by hundreds of thousands of troops, and if war criminals were torturing and assaulting them and their children. But I guess it’s not a big deal when it’s not their home, and when it’s only Ukraine.
I’m also sure they won’t forget to keep screaming "there’s no genocide in Ukraine, you’re all so lucky and privileged!!!".
i will be honest one of the reasons being a ukrainian on the internet kind of sucks is the widespread acceptance of the dominant russian cultural narratives, and there is no way to filter out anything related to russia at all.
starting with gifsets of "anastasia" at christmas. dark academia posts talking about dostoyevski for some reason. pictures of snow somewhere in russia. next it is films about "russian perspective" on the war getting prizes over ukrainian films at modern film festivals. and all of it ending with either denial of the crimes of the ussr and modern russia or outright support for them.
and if you dare criticise any of it you are chastised, of course, because "not all russians". except that, of course, you too wish you could sing "once upon a december" with no complicated feelings attached. or enjoy tolstoy's prose. or empathise with the russian "opposition" or something. but another disctrict in the city you were born in is on fire from shahed drones. and chornobyl is leaking radiation again after a russian strike. and there are mass graves everywhere. and there is people you are afraid to reach out to after a long time because you are scared to find out they are no longer alive. and the world's "most powerful nation" is pressuring ukraine into giving into all of russian demands.
and you just let out a tired sigh, swallowing the frustration and anger and grief and go on with your day.
and it's very rare to meet a westerner who would listen to you instead of teaching you how to be a proper victim in their eyes, who would try to see it from our perspective and not think that only their—people who've never been genocided by russians—view is correct

love it when the fictional army officer is so angry and so pathetic
What the hell the hoopla about ukrainian "child databases" even was about? They're just adoption websites? There are a bunch of websites that look exactly the same for russian children?
THEY ARE CHILDREN STOLEN FROM UKRAINE. THEY ARE CHILDREN TAKEN FROM ORPHANAGES, THEY ARE CHILDREN STOLEN FROM THEIR FAMILIES, STOLEN FROM EVERYTHING THEY KNOW.
THEY ARE NOT BEING ADOPTED, THEY ARE KIDNAPPED. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU. THESE KIDS ARE FORCEFULLY TAKEN FROM HOME.
AND EVEN IF THOSE SITES ARE IDENTICAL TO ADOPTION SITES OF RUSSIAN CHILDREN, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, RUSSIAN ORPHANS DON'T DESERVE TO BE DESCRIBED LIKE THEY ARE DOGS EITHER???
Again, coward for saying this on anon. Coward. Fuck you.
Screencaps from when Jax and 'Ribbit's' hands touched. I'm sure there's some sort of meaning behind this lol
honestly reminds me of that scene with jayvik in arcane
not normal about the fact that jax, for all that you think he's crossed the line before, would have really, truly crossed the line this time. but it all becomes trivial in the face of the fact that none of it was real. again.
(I'm sure it's going to be addressed again eventually, but I found it so interesting that in a way, Jax was right again: his actions don't have consequences, because they're in a circus.)
(what action of his had consequences in the real world, I wonder?)
the day has come
i finally can change my imaginary house poster for imaginary tadc poster
