You know, Superman has filled in for batman a few times dressing up like him and people rarely tell the difference. But what if filling in and wearing batman's costume was just required.
So like on the times superman cant cover, and neither can any of the robins, the justice league spins a wheel to decide who goes and pretend to be batman.
Now in some cases, no one really can tell. Like when Hal takes over. His brown hair is covered by the cowl, he looks a bit leaner but Hal uses the ring to look a bit more buff.
Depending on when Arthur is growing out the beard or not, he usually pulls it off well, but he hates wearing the costume, and the water ways in Gotham are disgusting.
People can often figure it out when other member of the justice league fill in and will call it out when they figure it out.
Except wonder woman.
Not because she looks like batman, its just people immediately KNOW its wonder woman but no one has the guts to call out wonder woman, and all of the rogue's gallery just go along with it for fear wonder woman will straight up kill their asses.
Martian Manhunter is the best impersonator because he can shapeshift and read minds, so he often knows how the villains perceive Batman and acts accordingly. Only one villain can actually tell when this happens
The rogue's gallery of Batman have actually have preferences on which league member they prefer to Batman.
Poison Ivy prefers when Superman takes over, she often has enough knowledge to get her plants to work on him, and usually a touch of kryptonite works. HATES when Wonder woman or Flash takes over. (Wonder woman will just speed blitz her, and Flash keeps avoiding her spores and will easily get punching.)
Two Face prefers Wonder Woman, mainly because she is the most straightforward and he appreciates the honestly. Hates dealing with Superman (too goody goody) and Green Arrow, (he never lets him flip the coin, its annoying he shoots the coin EVERY TIME!) Mr.Freeze prefers Flash, mainly because he has studied other cold villains and sees how snart/Captain Cold deals with Flash and has the cold strats on lock. He HATES when Superman or Green Lanturn take over. (Hal's powers are hard to deal with, and Superman has heat vision)
Penguin Prefers Green arrow, as he finds that green arrow is similar enough to batman that its at least predictable.
Killer Croc prefers Aquaman, as he has someone he can complain to about the sewer system in gotham, Or wonder woman, because he thinks she's hot. He hates dealing with Superman as he cant really do much.
Bane prefers Green arrow, and while he dislikes fighting superman, HE HATES the flash even more. He cant even touch him and flash can out think him.
Clayface prefers fighting Flash and Wonder woman, as his clay makes it harder for them to deal with him, while Green arrow and super man are the worst as they can deal with him long range.
Joker, hates all the non-batman and is the only one capable of clocking each league member when they pretend to be Batman. He can even tell when Martian Manhunter takes over for Batman. And when he finds out its a replacement, 9/10 times he just gets up and leaves its not fun if its not batman, UNLESS he thinks of a funny bit involving the Batfakes
Though most of the time, when a bat replacement shows up, most of the rogues just wait it out until the real Batman shows up again, they like their routine
I love my bicycle <3
āØBlaschkoās lines āØ
I like the idea of Duke having visible Blaschkoās lines that became visible once he got his powers. Since theyāre possibly due to cell migration patterns (I think), and Dukeās got freaky meta god blood, they might be a little different and glow when he uses his powers! I think I was also just thinking of freckles showing up when ur in the sun.
hate when people say something along the lines of "we must get along so well because you are/i am [some astrological sign]" to me. what are you fucking talking about. we get along because im fucking nice. a decision which i regret when you say shit like that
this post is a good rent lowering gunshot. in case anyone needs one of those

easiest way to showcase how deep bruce's adoration and affection for duke runs is the fact that he considers him a gift to the city he loves with every fibre of his being. bruce wayne, i can smell the fact that you've emotionally adopted him on you
Batman and the Signal #3
people will genuinely make me seem like I'm overexaggerating when I say that sanist writing is deeply embedded in Batman stories, but it's unfortunately true: the text goes above and beyond to demonize Bruce for things that, when you break them down, are symptoms of his ptsd (or, undiagnosed but heavily implied conditions like OCD, Autism) reacting to traumatic events. He is given absolutely no space to grieve or cope with these reactions nor is he given agency over his own trauma and is constantly forced to repress his emotions for the benefit of others. Bruce Wayne: Murderer? / Fugitive focuses on making you feel bad for his extended family, especially Dick, who goes about confronting a man experiencing psychosis the completely wrong way By Attacking Him and Forcing Him To Become Violent, when Bruce is the one suffering from psychosis after his girlfriend is killed in his own house and he's framed for her murder. If you know Anything about Bruce Wayne and his paranoia, this is like one of the worst things you could ever conjure up for him to deal with. And he's barely given support during it. The fallout of Alfred's death is even nastier because the entirety of Alfred Pennyworth R.I.P focuses on how upset everyone else is and how Bruce needs to 'man up' and 'be the batman' the family needs him to be, he essentially gets blamed for Alfred's death and no one even allows for him to grieve.
Even before this, the narrative continues to paint him as 'doomed from the start,' and this line of thinking is unironically something Leslie and Alfred use to escape responsibility for his upbringing. For a character whose entire DNA revolves around trauma, Batman stories do a generally terrible job of dealing with the subject properly, and the way the fandom interprets those stories only makes my eyes roll. And don't make me even begin to talk about Zur and the 'evil alter' trope. Bruce, to this day, is blamed for things that were completely out of his control after being driven to such a low point that the only way he was able to cope was by allowing an entirely different persona to take over and the entire thing is genuinely so misshandled, I Cannot Keep Having These Conversations.
Okay so hot take Duke & Alfred would not get along if we take into account how Duke is written by those who actually understand his character & Alfred would very much hate Duke in turn. Cause not only did Alfred lie to Duke about helping him find his parents just to get him to join the WAR group (it was Riko or Shug-R who helped him find them), he also got God knows how many innocent kids killed just because he wanted Bruce to not be Batman. Also given how much empathisis he places on one's parents he would hate Alfred for being a deadbeat parent to Julia, who he knows & likely thinks positively. Alfred on the other hand would hate Duke because Duke is the one who brought back Batman & that is not getting into the fact that he most likely would use a lot of microaggressions if Duke tried to express his blackness, because this is a white British man who was in the Queen of Englands inner circle for once upon that time, I do not trust him around minority characters anymore than I trust Tim.
~ Gotham Knights
Barbara was part of the family before she dated Dick, and she will forever be part of the family, even if she isn't dating Dick.
Anyway, "unwilling" enablers?!?! These two are making themselves the victims of how they raised Bruce. And if they had to do it again, they would do it differently, not for Bruce, but for themselves. Alfred dreams of a version of Bruce that is "normal", something he does in multiple comics. It's not about what Bruce wants, what a happy life looks like for Bruce, it's about him fitting the mold.
Also, Leslie has no issue being mad at Bruce for how he treated Bane, but she has no issue when Alfred is the one calling the man a monster and wanting him out of Bruce's life. Bruce is the one that got his back broken by Bane, but he is not allowed to be angry at Bane, but they can.

Hello I know weāve never interacted before so I understand if you donāt want to share but can I hear some internalized homophobia Clark takes? š I love takes where Clark is allowed to be a complicated person like everyone else
Well if I knew I had an audience I would've done it earlier but well- anyways hi there! You don't gotta worry about sending me asks even if we've never interacted, I like getting asks! I'll put a read more here coz this gets kinda long ngl. Not too long but still.
OK SO. Clark Kent and internalized homophobia has lowkey been one of my most steadfast and most thought over headcanons for a character who isn't Bruce. In my mind it just, fits so perfectly, and the reason for it is: he is an alien.
i was talking abt this on my main in the tags of @frownyalfred's post but like... i can't stop thinking about it
like imagine jason realising for the first time--only when it's too late to undo what has been done--why bruce doesn't like guns. this isn't a moral standpoint as such but a trauma reaction. that despite how bruce holds himself it takes very little to make him eight years old again. that when you point a gun at him there is a part of himself seeing his parents die again.
and like. imagining realising you did that. imagining realising that you did that to your father. i think i'd pass away

oh yeah im totally normal about this
One of the major ways Elementary stands out from other Holmes adaptations to me is how they wrote Watson. Like it would've been so easy to write her like any other Watson, brilliant, yes, undoubtedly, but forever attached to Sherlock. Watson is there because Sherlock wills it so, because Sherlock needs a rock and because Sherlock Holmes is a man forever in need of a partner. Usually.
But they broke that. They said this is Dr Joan Watson, and she is incandescent and ruthless. She's a surgeon and there's an episode where Sherlock says surgeons have a healthy dose of god complex and you think sure buddy and then Joan threatens Moriarty in the middle of a restaurant and you go, huh. She learns to pick pockets and watches out of boredom. She changed careers over and over again till she found the one that fit. She became a detective and could and would absolutely kill a man and vouch for someone killing a man because it's Sherlock and she loves him very much. She's a partner, in the very literal sense. She kept track of murders as a teenager. She enchanted the most dangerous woman on the planet and EARNED her protection. She's a cancer survivor. She threatens gangs and online hacker conglomerates in free time. She's a mother. She's half of two people who love each other very much. She moved across oceans for him and she would do it again.
