I've been obsessed with Overwatch recently, and a few of my experiences with my teammates had me thinking about the Lads men and how they'd play.
This post may be a complete mess of thoughts spewed out on to the page but someone will understand.
Sylus is a tank. I picture him as either a Ramattra main or a Doomfist main. They can be very intimidating and troublesome for people to fight against, and it'd be a mistake to underestimate either one in Sylus' hand.
Other candidates are: Moira, and Reaper.
Moira, and Ramattra remind me of Sylus in various ways, Ramattras' ult and Moiras' decay are a simplistic version of Sylus' EVOL.
Reaper ? I have no clue tbh. Reaper is stealthy, decimating backlines easily with a well timed Q and that just feels like Sylus, y'know?
As for Doomfist, I just see Sylus as a dive tank. Someone damn near impossible to find unless he wants you to find him, and by the time you see him, it's already too late. (lowkey the same for Reaper lol)
Let's say you go tank or dps, Sylus isn't the type to micromanage or follow you around. If anything, i assume he'd be lurking, picking off enemies to break the teams formation and just being an overall nuisance. He'll keep a close eye on you, though. When you find yourself in a comprising spot, like being in baby D.va form or in a 1v4, he'll be right beside you to offer his aid.
Tell him you want to win then throw him into the stadium, trust me.
Also, any skin you want for your main is yours ofc <3
(Off topic, but i think he'd be a great Zero from R6 siege)
Zayne strikes me as the support type ofc. Both bc of his occupation, and his canonical want to help MC, aka you. He's either a support or Mei, I'll hear no objections lol.
Him playing as a Mercy would be funny, especially if it's Underwatch. I can see him being a Juno or Jetpack Cat main, too. There's a few games in custom that I think would be fun to play with him, like the Jetpack Cat fight or Mercy parkour.
When alone, he'll play Mei, and he's gotten really good at using his ice wall to block enemy ult's. Hasn't figured out the whole Blizzard thing yet, he'll still miss enemies or use it too late/early. It's a learning curve and he is growing stronger by the second.
Playing with him would be more arcade and silly custom games than Rank or Quick Play. A fun way to relax and forget about a long day.
Though, he'd be so locked in on Mercy parkour, giving you tips when he sees that you're struggling
Caleb is everything. Our favorite perfect pretty boy has mastered every hero the week you told him you were into the game and was WAITING for you to invite him. Because of this he doesn't really have a main, the character and role he plays are solely dependent on you and your playstyle.
If you're a tank (Reinhardt, D.va, Doomfist, etc.) that likes to rush in with reckless abandon, then he's going Mercy, Lifeweaver, Juno. Anyone who can follow and heal you or drag you back from oblivion.
If you're a flanker, then he is, too, rushing into the back lines with you to finish off whoever you've targeted.
Have you decided to be a support? Never fear your faithful guard tank is right by your side, brutally tearing apart any divers that may have you in their sights.
He's memorized every counter for the heros, knows their cooldowns, is actively keeping track of when enemies might have ult all so he can keep you safe.
For the sake of discussion, I think he'd main the following:
(I put these here with the idea of how he'd use them to protect Mc)
Echo, Widowmaker, and Sierra bc she's so fun.
all three can get to high ground easily to pick of any sharpshooters, junkrats or jetpack cats that might be lurking. Sierra and Echo give him good flanking potential too.
Ana, Jetpack Cat, and Lifeweaver.
I originally put Mercy on this list but I don't think Caleb would play her for anything other than Rezing you if you die.
Ana gives him the ability to be helpful from afar, nanoing you whenever you have ult or sleeping people that may be after you. He knows you. He knows how you think and where you'll go, using it to his advantage to give you an advantage.
Lifeweaver is much the same, he knows you can handle yourself but he'll also pull you back to him if you start leaving his LoS or get too low in health. He'll use everything in his disposal to counter ults and ends up taking out enemies that try to gain high ground.
It's much the same for Jetpack Cat. Except, he'll lift you up and carry you to point, save you from falling off map and once again take out any poor souls that try to attack you. That whole flying D.va bomb? Yea that's the two of you and it's maddening for enemy teams. That, a flying Orisa, Cole Cassidy or even BOB. smh the two of you are menaces.
Sigma, D.va, Domina, and Reinhardt.
His first priority is protecting you. The second the round starts that shield is UP or he's using himself to take the brunt of the damage. Just stay behind him and everything will be fine.
His reaction time to different ults is ungodly. The moment he hears the voiceline his shield up and placed right in front of you.
If you want to play Rank, or Stadium then Caleb is your man. He's on a winning streak and it's all for you.
Rafayel is the ultimate assassin and most annoying flanker.
At first he wasn't too into the game, throwing the game to look at the environment or the other character designs but once he notices your disappointment/sadness bc of your losing streak then he locks in. Now it's become a convenient way for him to procrastinate and avoid Thomas.
Rafayel has locked on to the DPS role. He is stubborn and won't play any other role regardless of what or who you might play.
His mains are Anran, Sombra, and Symmetra.
The enemy team would be dealing with Symmetras' sentries placed EVERYWHERE, same with the turret if he's decided to play Torbjorn. He'd sneak behind and massacre the backline without breaking a sweat.
As Anran he swoops in, killing off the back line without anyone even noticing, Sombra is just as bad but for the tank. He'll focus every hack and EMP on the tank then zip out.
He'll hide in enemy back lines, taking out healers and rogue DPS that may cause problems for you depending on your role, but all in all, he's a brutal flanker and DPS as a whole, causing many of the enemy team to crash out bc they can't even make it out of spawn. You won't see him for most of the game.
Quick play and open queue are his go to but you can also find him on custom games alone. He's mainly looking around the map to take in all of the details. He's another one that loves to buy skins, matching skins are even better and immediately bought. Ends up designing a matching skin set for the both of you and forces it into the game.
Xavier is Genji. I don't think he'd be anyone else. A one trick pony but damn if he's not POTG every time.
Recently, as in today, I was playing a game with a Genji and I fell in love with him. He was hunting down the Widowmaker that was after me. All i did was ping the widow and he was on it like a hound dog. That's the kind of Genji he'd be. Xavier is your personal attack dog.
Again for sake of discussion I'll add a few more that I think match.
D.va, Orisa, Winston, Reinhardt.
Winston is chasing after people. I don't know why that's my thought, but it is. He's hardcore sprinting after enemies and it's terrifying. You can not escape him. Or even worse he'll just appear beside them. A two ton, six legged, BEAST of a tank, sneaking up right next to them and saying hello before they're turned into little more than a soul for the mercy to rez... or attempt to.
D.va and Rein pop out of the shadows, pinning and destroying their targets, sending them to spawn before they even realize what happened.
Ana, Kirko, Juno, Wuyang.
Flanking Ana, a one man army that doesn't need anyone and somehow staggers the entire team the whole game.
As for Kirko, Juno, Wuyang...
Let's just say Xavier embodies the saying 'you won't need healing if the
other team isn't alive long enough to do damage.' You would not believe some of the crazy angles that Xavier can hit as Wuyang and Kirko's tiny hitbox is the enemy teams undoing. Juno has a perk that allows her to continuously fire when flying and Xavier is mowing down enemies from above.
Genji, Anran, Sierra.
Xavier just strikes me as a fast gameplay person.
Every second is filled with mayhem and rarely is there a second where he isn't picking someone off.
Xavier turns Overwatch into a horror game for the enemy, be glad he's on your side lol. He is the ultimate stadium king with the most insane perk lineup imaginable. He also gets accused of cheating despite not cheating, it's just bc of his scarily accurate tracking of the enemy.
