“Don’t hog them all to yourself. I want in on that cake deal as well.”

“Life’s short, you’re cute, and I’m drunk. C’mon, let’s dance!”

“No kidding,” Alice laughed, watching the girl. “What the hell. Lets do it.”

“You didn’t think it would be fun before?”

“For you, anything!” He smiled and grabbed some from his bag, and some for himself. “How’s things anyway?”

“AH!” Alice had to restrain herself from attacking the Hufflepuff. “I knew that I could count on you.” She took the gum thankfully and popped a piece in her mouth. Chewing she thought over her answer. “They’re going spectacularly well. Doing good in classes and with the tutoring. What about you?”

“Oh.... well thanks for checking?” Alice said, her smile faltering in the face of the Slytherin.

“I’m adorable, I need sugar, and I’m super good at Potions and Defense if you need help?”

“I do!” Sybill said, searching in her book bag for the giant tin of bubblegum she’d bought from her last visit to Honeydukes. “I almost never have to share it, nobody else seems to like gum.”

“You’re telling me,” Alice replied with a smile as she waited. “You are an angel among mere mortals! Uh... Sybil. Right?”

“Well duh, I always have gum!” She grinned, fishing a packet out of her bag and giving it to Alice. “You’re welcome.”

“Thank you!” Alice all but squealed. She grabbed Marlene in a quick hug, before opening the gum and popping it in her mouth. “Merlin’s beard, this is the best thing ever.”

“Is Mint alright?”

“Better than nothing, honestly.” Alice grinned and held out her hand expectantly.

“Nope. Sorry. I’ve got some Peppermint Toads though, if that helps at all.”

“Um... No. That’s okay. Not that great with peppermint. No one has gum. I asked the entire school. Maybe. Probably not. But close.”

“I mean — well, no, because I don’t really like gum. I do have some Peppermint Toads.”

Alice groaned in frustration. “Am I the only person that chews gum here?”

“M’afraid not, sorry.”

“Ugh. No one does. Do you have anything sweet? I’d be wiling to pay! My stash is dangerously low. And I need something. Sugar quills, chocolate frog, Bertie Botts? And that’s saying something, because I hate those.”

“I’m okay. I’m fine, see. I totally thought I was dead after falling down stairs, but look I’m fine.” 

Alice tried, Merlin knows she tried. But a laugh escaped her nonetheless. “I believe it,” she said through giggles. “You popped right back up, didn’t you?”

“So, like, is there a limit to how many dates we can bring to this thing, or…?”
