The moment Sister Yaya finished applying my makeup was so special! I thought for a long time about how I could "overpower" the makeup through my performance, rather than letting the makeup overpower me. I spent about a week thinking about this.
I'm especially grateful to Director Yin Tao for his trust and the creative space he gave me. He allowed me to try something different than what was in the script. He let me just act freely, and he'd adjust. I added some neck stretching movements for breaking out of the coffin (it could have been better, more), adding a touch of "weirdness" to the "crazy" part. I hope everyone will remember him instantly.
Filmmakers all know that a character's entrance scene sets the tone for the role, so I was actually quite nervous. My first scene was my entrance scene, the one you see where he breaks out of the coffin. It took three days to film that scene, and it was already 1 a.m. when I finally finished filming. I was still finding my groove in the first scene, and I personally felt like my performance wasn't perfect, so there was still some room for improvement.
The fight scene with Mu Zizhe was split into five days of filming. Actually, in the original novel, I was supposed to say that line with a smile. After he transformed into a butterfly and flew away, I looked up at the sky, and I just couldn't smile. Perhaps that was when I had a "conversation" with Mu Ciling.
He said, "Follow your heart."
After all, he never gets hung up on himself.

Mu Ci Ling is outspoken, confident, and lives for himself. He never lives by the attitude of others towards him. He loves to fight and likes others to use all their strength against him.
As for the voice, I actually discussed it with the director in the studio. We decided to combine bold and unrestrained speech with sinister speech. I was afraid that using the same tone all the time would be uncomfortable for the audience. So, we discarded some of the more pleasant vocals. (During the recording process, I realized Mu Ciling laughed so many times, which was incredibly difficult to record.) For a few scenes later on, I also opted for less clear vocals. That less clear articulation was exactly how I expressed my emotions as a person at that moment... Listening to the entire recording in the studio, I still feel a bit disappointed. I always think I sound better with the live sound; I can never quite capture that feeling in the studio.
