Hey everyone!
I wanna give a big thanks to everyone that checked on my everythinggirl.com archive website: https://everything-girl.neocities.org/
This project is still a work in progress due to the large amount of lost media. So to anyone willing to contribute, I currently need your help in searching and recovering missing assets!
There's a chance they can be recovered by uncovering old browser cache. The Bearville Rewritten team made a video explaining how to recover cache from old computers containing flash files: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMttxlCYygY
There are many hub pages that are fully lost, like the Polly Pocket home pages for example. For the English site, only the Groovy Lagoon was archived For some reason I thought it wasn't saved until I discovered later on it was, I feel so dumb since the proof was in my face the whole time.
And although the pages were saved on the Spanish and French sites, they don't contain the original high quality English audio and have an updated art style.
(Please note that if you view these pages on my site, you'll find that Polly speaks English excluding the park one. This is because I edited the audio by taking the eng clips from the older (pre 2006) pages and inserting them into these newer ones. You can notice this since the lip sync doesn't match the audio, except the garden one which ended up being a perfect match.)
There's also the home page for Barbie. The one I have on my site are bits and pieces mashed together to make a semi functionable version. The different furniture and outfits are lost. Even the original pets are missing! I do have them on the home site, but they're different since I took them from the closet hub page, I chose them to be substitutes.
Copy and paste from my reddit post:
EverythingGirl was a popular 2000s girl's website that lasted from 2004 to 2014. It hosted a lot of sites from brands such as Barbie, MyScene, Polly Pocket, Pixel Chix, and more. The site had its own exclusive fairy mascot named Pippa the Digi-Pixie, whose slogan was "We've got digital games for girls today!" Like the toy brands hosted on the site, Pippa had a bunch of exclusive flash games/content. But the only difference is that they were only accessible if you made an account on the site, which sadly meant these weren't archived on the wayback machine.
From what I have researched, Here's that stuff you get when you had an account:
You could collect charms for your digital charm bracelet (from what I've heard, you could get a special one when it's your birthday). In order to obtain them, you'd had to earn points by playing games.
You could earn/raise your own pet called a "PowerPet" (not to be confused with "powerpets.com" a completely separate and unrelated Neopets-like online game). How it works is that you collect points called "Digi-Powers" by playing exclusive "Digi-Games" in "Pippa's Power Playground". Once you collect 50 Digi-Powers, you could purchase a PowerPet (I'm unsure if you could earn more than one pet or if there were any like special looking versions, like a Christmas or Valentines themed PowerPet).
Your PowerPet starts out as a square baby and as you feed it digi-powers it slowly starts to grow. You can customize your pet with different accessories called "Power Parts", and give them different hats, ears, tails, shoes/feet, face parts, hair, and more (these seems to be won through playing Digi-Games, though I'm unsure if these can also be purchased using your digi-powers). Also, your PowerPet lives in their own home called the "Powerhouse" that can be customized with different interiors. I'm unsure how many Digi-Games were made for the website, but I know for sure that there where original games like a "Pip's Digi-Power Game" (I believe Pip is Pippa's PowerPet), and branded games like "Polly Pocket Totally Bead-iful".
You could watch toy commercials at the "Digi-Channel" to earn Digi-Powers, very typical of 2000s kid websites.
I can go on and on in detail which games and assets are missing but I think you get the point. I do have some hope that these flash files can be recovered in the future, potentially an ex developer still has them in their hard drive somewhere and is willing to share them. If you have any lost assets, you can contact me through my email and socials which are listed here: https://everything-girl.neocities.org/socials
I appreciate any help, thank you!
I think if we all start posting nipples at once they won't be able to stop all of us. and by they I don't just mean tumblr staff I'm referring to the entire world. I think the nipple is a very destigmatizable body part and I expect/demand it to be a normal thing within my lifetime. the fear of nipples is so weird and archaic, it's a body part dude

This is a friendly reminder that none disabled people often do benefit from the same accommodations disabled people benefit from.
Yeah okay I'll reblog that!!
My dad used to work for Vodafone and likes to tell a story about when he was working on a voicemail transcription service.
And there was a woman there who was some form of disability advocate (it was the 90s so her existence in the company was a minor miracle) and apparently she completely blew his mind on that project.
See, he'd imagined that this service was exclusively gonna be for deaf people. Obviously very useful for the very small number of people who couldn't hear their phone, but why would you even own a mobile phone if you couldn't hear?
But she described to him all the times he might want to read a message instead of listen to it. Maybe he was in a loud football crowd. Maybe there was important info that he needed to copy down that was spoken too fast. Maybe he was holding his sleeping newborn (me) and didn't want his phone to be loud and wake them up.
This doesn't feel as revolutionary as all that to those of us that have only ever known phones with the ability 'send text message', but given the timing and placement of this conversation I wonder if this woman and this project is *part of the reason text messaging exists*. The first text (SMS) message was sent by Vodafone UK in 1992 - where + when this conversation was happening - and then for a long time it was supported exclusively for 'messages from the carrier', and this project was an early potential extra use of the SMS protocol.
So Yeh, building for disability is kinda handy..
can you imagine how often you would use sign language if everyone knew it

"if you forgot then it obviously wasn't important to you" is an ableist thing to say and i'm tired of pretending it's not
I've forgotten *my own birthday* before. There are several years of my life just straight up missing. In the past I've forgotten silly little frivolous things like NAMES OF LOVED ONES or WHERE MY HOUSE IS. But obviously none of that was important. Fucking awful, ableist thing to say.
3rd person is the most common perspective style…
I want to trap the can't-read-3rd-person poster in the same room as one of those people who hates 1st person so much they want to wipe it from the universe (usually through not being widely read and only encountering 1st person ever in a particularly annoying type of YA fiction). then we'd see who wins, and if they manage to overcome their differences and fall in love. i think i could make a whole anime out of that
The encounter between them should be narrated in second-person. To annoy both of them.
You think that’s a wonderful idea.
Yeah okay, I'll reblog that!
you mean yeah okay you'll reblog that
went to a new optometrist today wearing my squid facts ‘save our freaks’ shirt from @sarahmackattack that has a strawberry squid on it. and i wasn’t even thinking about it but the optometrist walked in and he was like ‘oh what does your shirt say’ so i showed him and he was like ‘oh that’s neat!’ and then i thought he might like to know about strawberry squid eyes since they have weird eyes and he is an optometrist and all. so i was like ‘yeah it’s actually a real kind of squid called a strawberry squid, their eyes are really cool because they have one big yellow-green one and one small blue one’ and he kind of gasped and went ‘oh my god that’s so interesting i wonder why they have that. do you know what their retina composition is like?’ and i watched as he minimized my chart on the computer and started looking up images of strawberry squid and then he googled ‘strawberry squid retina composition’ and he was like ‘sorry we’ll get to your eye exam in a moment i just really want to find out’ LMAO 10/10 optometrist experience will be returning
Hell yeah
He’s in the right for that this is so cool

World Heritage Post
Many lgbt teenagers and young adults growing up on the internet today have socially conservative beliefs that they voice at all times that they got from their conservative parents which they’ve never challenged because they think the life experience of being gay or trans makes them politically progressive
This is why I hate it when people say something homophobic and then go “so you’re really accusing me, a whole ass lesbian, of being homophobic 🙄” like yeah
