someone told me the term little was stolen from the DID community and itβs only supposed to be used for child alters. now i feel yucky about using it :( is it a bad term?
Hey, there. So there are a few possible origins for age regressors using the term little. I have no idea which if any are true, but here are the oneβs Iβve heard:
Option 1:
The DID community started using the term little to describe system littles. The age pl@y and age regression communities then picked it up from them.
Option 2:
The DID community and the age pl@y/age regression community both started using the term individually at about the same time.
Iβm really not sure which one happened. While itβs plausible that the term was taken from system littles, itβs also possible that it was derived from the actual word little, or from another context. For instance, sororities use little to refer to new sisters attempting to join, and (to my knowledge) have been using the term longer than the DID community.
Either way, I donβt think itβs a bad thing to be using this term. To use system little would be overstepping our boundaries, as itβs a term that was specifically created for that community, but little is just a word. Words are going to take on different meanings depending on the context theyβre in. We are little. We arenβt any more or less little than any of the other groups who have found and used that word over the years. Weβre little in our own ways as they are in theirβs.
I hope this helps.
