Clip 1 [A barrel left at Tango's base with a sign that reads: Not sure if you need them for anything, but just in case. -Etho] Tango: "Wait. No, that's something else. 'Not sure if you need them for anything, but just in case.'" [The barrel has all slots filled with twenty-seven stacks of froglights.] Tango: "Whoa-oaa! Yeah! Wow! Etho been busy! Yeah, bottom of the ramp it sounds like there's something down there. That's awesome, Etho! Okay. He's getting another box of gunpowder."

Clip 2 [Tango checking out his full barrel of froglights] Tango: "Did you see the present Etho left me?" Impulse: "Yes." Tango: "It's the greatest present of all presents." Impulse: "He left me a present too but it was only like a stack of each. He left you a whole chest." Tango: "Well, th-that's cus I gave him – I've already given him, like, a ton of redstone, a ton of gunpowder..." Impulse: "Yeah, yeah, yeah. You – you've been more kind to him than I have." Tango: "Yeah."

They have a custom cloud map. That spells out hermitcraft.

Cleo: Like, that's not counting all the stuff I did for other people's bases. I had a really good season, like I...am so. (sighs) Like, I am so blessed to--be on Hermitcraft, like, when I started it, it was no, like--Hermitcraft was...like. It was the underdog, the scrappy underdog, where everyone was, y'know. Like. (sighs) And to-to have it evolve into this, and have these people, who mean so much to me, they mean so much to me. Like, I--like, we built this together, like. Looking at all the stuff, that's-that's around this area, we-like, this is--a group project, of just, love? Um. And it's like-like, I didn't put out the most videos that I've ever made, and I didn't do, like, all the armor stands that I wanted to. But I did, I think, the most important thing, is, I did this-I-I built something with my friends. You know? Like, I spent this season next to Ren and False, and I had the best time. I had the best time. I had the best time, and these-these people, like, even if Hermitcraft disappears one day? Like, I'm still gonna have these people, right?

oh god where do i even START. uh hot tub at the top of the pyramid was silly. impulse interpreting the currents as ren wanting him closer to him vs ren describing it as him “spiraling.” that was funny and also a little sad. but mostly funny!

i got some clock duo crumbs which is always nice! not so nice when it’s bdubs dogging on ren for not killing impulse already, though. but ren saying he’s a gentleman and that he’d never do that made me very happy. take notes, bdubs!

also it was probably him lying through that grin of his but bdubs saying he was glad to see them sticking together as a dark green and red life for so long and impulse going “till the end! which hopefully won’t be today…” and then proceeding to bid ren goodbye in advance. i was tweaking.

impulse also somewhat accepting that ren was going to be gone sooner rather than later and confiding in cleo about it. and then confiding(?) in bdubs about it. and them being like “hey let’s just all be on good terms, okay?” ohhhhh day one crew how i’ve missed you :,< i was jumping for joy but also on the verge of throwing up.

and then after some deliberation they send ren off to the lighthouse to have his big break. and impulse has a bad feeling about it. and ren dies.

impulse screaming “no!” when he saw the death message. him calling ren “my boy.” him struggling to even make a proper grave for the only gluten guy he had left (both for grieving reasons and because the letter “R” is just really hard to make with so little blocks and space).

but ohhhhh the triple kill on the villies was BEAUTIFUL. i don’t even care that it wasn’t via impulse’s trap, they still got blown to smithereens and i was SO happy!!! thank you jimmy solidarity!!!

but even with that revenge, nothing is fixed. nothing goes back to normal. nothing will bring back what impulse lost. who impulse lost.

he literally describes himself as being an “emotional wreck” in the wake of everything that has happened. so much so that he can’t do it again. he can’t do another funeral. and that riddles him with so much shame and guilt that he calls out for ren in the night to apologize.

(also etho saying “look up or look down?” when they all are trying to speak to ren’s ghost had my jaw DROPPED. if impulse had a nickel for every time etho insulted one of his teammates at their funeral speech—)

it made me happy that they at least TRIED to douse the lighthouse in lava in ren’s honor. sure, it didn’t go EXACTLY as planned, but it was good enough for me! and probably for ren, too.

i’m also just so incredibly devastated over and also obsessed with how open impulse is about the loneliness he feels. talking about how the pyramid is his and his alone now, how he’ll have to be the one to keep the place clean and well kept all on his own, how it’s so… empty now.

and when he finally goes home to grieve, to properly grieve, he vows to ren that he’ll bring it home. he’ll keep going. he’ll make it to the end for him, for tango, for all that they could’ve been. and maybe that feels scarily similar to a past life of his, one where he watched his team drop like flies, one where he had to keep pushing for them. he made them proud back then, he hopes. maybe he can do it again.

it’s also very important to me how torn impulse feels about everything. on one hand, cleo is sure to join the cabin crew once martyn is gone, so impulse should go with them. but the rejects are nice to him, too… he feels so lost, like he’s roaming a world he’s not quite a part of, and yet he feels stuck all the same. he doesn’t know where to go. he doesn’t know where home is anymore. he just wants a home.

so of course he gets a little uneasy and jealous when cabincore invite jimmy to their hot tub right in front of him, and of course he urges jimmy to refuse the offer under the suspicion of it being a trap, and of course impulse feels all too accomplished when jimmy believes him and thanks him for his consideration.

and maybe that’s why he lets jimmy drag him along to the rejects’ base. and when he nervously asks if it’s okay, he lets jimmy tell him it’s fine, he’s fine! and despite saying to cleo that he wouldn’t go to the rejects… he does.

because what else is he meant to do?

he loves cleo, he trusts cleo, but they still have martyn. and they have that trusty widow’s alliance to fall back on. and they’ve already told him how many times they’ve been offered a place in the cabin. just them. not impulse or martyn. just cleo.

so maybe he feels inherently isolated regardless of all his options. and maybe he feels similar to his first time in the games, when he fit into every alliance like a strange puzzle piece, personality chiseled down until it slid in comfortably next to whoever he needed to be with. but back then, that was his choice. that was his plan. it was all in his control, scarily so.

but now? now it’s everything but controllable. he’s being tugged around by teams like a limp body in the ocean, waves crashing down on him and thrashing him about. his lifeboat is gone. his crew is gone. it’s all gone, and he is going to drown in it.

i wonder if people will take his desperation for community and safety as him going back to his third life roots. maybe they’ll assume he’s just a mole again, some vermin trying to weasel his way into any group that will have him. but he’s not. he just wants teammates again, that’s all. he needs teammates.

genuinely, this session drove me INSANE. just all the callbacks to previous seasons (albeit completely unintentional) made me want to laugh and cry and rip my hair out. it felt like deja vu and i LOVED it. so, so, so much.

and honestly? i really, really, really hope impulse wins after all this. maybe he has to relive his past lives to get through this one. i think that’d be neat.

Etho: Again, she made a grave mistake [Cutting some cross-talk] I- I mocked her earlier this episode, for falling for one of the traps, but then I fell down exactly the same thing, and then she fell down it as well. And it's- it's just like- it's brutal. We understand, Pearl. It's a rough episode. Um- I was hoping for better things for you- Grian, Cleo, others: [Laughing] Etho: -but you joined up with the Villies. You joined up with the Villies; they threw you away like a rag, they never had your best interests at heart- Grian: That is NOT true. Etho: I wish you would have saw it sooner.

Like?? He reminds everyone they're making fun of someone who just died to exactly the same things they all die to. That it's a brutal way to go out, and he wanted a better series for her (which everyone takes as a joke), and that she was part of a team that did not appreciate her.
