Do you ever wonder if you've somehow sustained actual brain damage just by being alive? Like, there's just something fundamentally wrong with your brain in a way that's given you dementia lite in your 20s, but it's not severe enough to seem alarming to a neurologist, so you're just stuck watching your consciousness turn into jelly and die while everyone around you just calls it depression?

people view abuse within families as horrific but at the same time deny its existence or think it's rare. in reality children are most likely to be abused by a family member or close family friend--same with kidnapping. it's also much harder for children abused by family members to seek support because they are dependent on their abusers and easily manipulated into defending family. the biggest hope abused children have is community and lack of isolation, which abusers try to take away from them so they don't realize they're being abused.
