The thing I’m most excited about with the World Trigger reboot is that this beautiful amazing spectacular really well thought out story will finally get the respect and recognition it deserves.
World Trigger is one of those series that quietly does almost everything right.
Its power system is incredibly consistent. The rules are established early, and they stay the rules. Characters don’t suddenly discover hidden abilities because the plot needs them to. Instead, they get better because they train, experiment, and learn how to use the exact same tools more effectively. It makes every victory feel deserved.
The cast is enormous, and somehow almost everyone matters. Even characters who only show up for a handful of chapters have distinct personalities, fighting styles, and tactical roles. You can genuinely root for multiple teams because the story gives you a reason to care about all of them.
And the fights are just… different.
So many shounen battle series eventually boil down to “my attack is bigger than your attack.” World Trigger never falls into that trap. Every fight is a puzzle. Positioning matters. Teamwork matters. Information matters. Terrain matters. You can watch two evenly matched squads with the exact same equipment and get a completely different battle because of the decisions they make.
The B-Rank Wars are honestly one of the best tournament arcs I’ve ever read because every single match has its own identity. One team relies on traps. Another dominates with mobility. Another overwhelms opponents through communication. Another wins by predicting what everyone else is going to do three minutes in advance. The variety is ridiculous.
I also love that the series respects its audience.
Characters are allowed to fail. Plans don’t always work. People make mistakes. The story doesn’t stop every five pages to explain why someone is amazing, it lets you watch them prove it.
And maybe my favorite thing about World Trigger is that it never feels like it’s chasing bigger spectacle for its own sake. The tension comes from wondering how someone is going to solve an impossible situation, not from waiting for someone to unlock the next transformation.
It’s a series built on strategy, teamwork, preparation, and incremental growth instead of destiny and power creep.
There really isn’t another battle shounen quite like it.
I genuinely hope the reboot brings in a huge new audience, because World Trigger has spent years being one of the most criminally overlooked manga in the genre, and it deserves so much better.
(Also, fan works. I’m excited for more fan works.)

abandonware should be public domain. force companies to actively support and provide products if they don't wanna lose the rights to them
Game companies hate emulation, but none of them seem to understand that a lot of us would just buy ROMs from them directly if we could. I don't want a fifth remake of Final Fantasy IV, I want to pay five bucks for the 3MB file you already made bank with thirty years ago. Nobody who wants to play something for the purpose of retro gaming is going to consider a $40 remake as the alternative option, and we're certainly not going to let the original dissappear. They're crying about opportunity cost for a product they're not even selling.
op i know you're probably talking about like, video games, etc, but this is also critical for research science - my lab has so much abandonware, either because the company's out of business, or the company decided to not maintain it, and it's a fucking nightmare. we have two windows 95 computers that are CRITICAL for performing experiments/data analysis because the software needed is abandonware. one of the main roles for a guy in my lab is to maintain these little dinosaurs because if they go out, we lose access to ~20 years of raw data for research. part of why is that these companies also make their own file types, and make it difficult-to-impossible to convert those file types without their specific software. by habit, i convert all research files to more generic versions (txt, pdf, tif, etc) so that i minimize risk of losing my shit, but some stuff can't be converted.
for example, we have a microscope that is perfectly functional, good microscope, but its software is abandonware because the company refused to maintain it. the company is still in business, still makes essentially the exact same software, but they made all of the old tech incompatible with new software to force people to buy the new microscope tech. it would cost a quarter million dollars to replace this microscope. this perfectly good microscope.
so like, i know a lot of people look at the original post here and go "well op just wants old video games to play" (which is valid! games companies should not be able to push shit to abandonware and then close it off) but also this is critical for like. biomedical research. if y'all had any idea how much basic infrastructure built on science relies on shit that is technically abandonware, you would probably be horrified.

the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
btw this is maybe the single most key distinguishing feature of the terfy strains of radical feminism, the seed all the rest of it springs out of: they have absolutely no faith in the ability of feminism to actually destroy patriarchy. they do not think feminism can truly build a better world. they cannot really even imagine that possibility. they think patriarchy is an inevitable natural consequence of unchangeable biological facts, and therefore the goal of feminism can only be to mitigate the worst effects of patriarchy, not to get rid of it.
they can imagine a society where women get some designated safe spaces without men around. they cannot imagine a society where the presence of men is not inherently a danger to women.
