This guy from uni hit me up and started hitting on me and he kept telling me that I have such an innocent look to me and look way younger and that he thought I was 19 tops (he is 23 and I am 25 actually) which immediately gave me a bad vibe, long story short he followed me on Insta and we kept chatting there and then he randomly attacked me about having a public IG profile and not being bothered about having 3k followers, most of which I don't know personally, and when I kept telling him it really wasn't a problem for me and that I like my followers and 3k wasn't that much to begin with, he hit me with a "you're way different than I thought," and said stuff like he guesses that I am not as innocent as he thought (wtf dude) and that he doesn't approve of the content I post ?????? and doesnt't see a point of the two of us talking anymore??? like, okay creep, I'd rather not be talking to you either and I was just being polite to you but insulting my followers who have never done anything wrong to you and have been nothing but nice, respectful and supportive to me??? Fuck off

Everyone reacted amazingly to this and decided to help me be extra petty towards creepy uni guy by getting my followers from 3k to a larger number and I can't believe that in just a few days y'all got me to 9k??? Simple out of spite??? I love it and I love you all ❤❤

Creepy uni guy unfollowed me after I made a Christmas post about hitting 7.5k and thanking everyone for following me (per everybody's amazing suggestion, so he would see that I have even more followers now without me direcy telling him because we are all about the subtle pettiness), and I know he knows I have even more followers now because I found him among the people who have seen my most recent story!!! He must be so shook! We got him!!!

Since no one IRL knows I run this blog (and I'd like to keep it as such), people were shook about my sudden influx of attention and another uni guy hit me up and accused me of buying followers because he couldn't understand why I have so many all of a sudden. As if I have money for that!!!

The next morning, I woke up to a message from third uni guy who told me that my post thanking people for following me was "sooooo stuck-up" and in another twist of events, a uni friend decided to jokingly start promoting his own Insta under my most recent post and promised he would post candids of me when he hits a 1000 followers. 😭 He was kidding though and he himself immediately messaged me to tell me he would never post any pictures of me without permission, he just thought this would be a funny thing to say due to all the attention. He was also super supportive about the boost of followers and sent me screenshots showing me I am trending in all the local tags that I used on my post.

On a separate note, he is literally someone who I talk to every day and no one should be sending him hate because he is a good friend, but do you know who also started talking to me and refollowed me after like a year of unfollowing me? A former friend/wannabe influencer who used to be sooooooo frosty to me and unfollowed me without a word and just stopped talking to me alltogether, but is now being extra nice since she has like 4 times less followers than I do! Shameless. So tons of stuff happened on this post.

B12 is found in all animal products.

Additionally, although humans can manufacture taurine (only found in meat), not all of us can manufacture enough taurine. This is why some people get sick when they go vegetarian.

To survive on a vegan diet you need to artificially supplement B12 and possibly taurine. Period.

A diet that requires artificial supplementation is, by definition, unhealthy. And while the cost of vegan B12 supplements is low, when you’re already paying more for your food… Taurine supplementation, if you happen to be one of the people who needs it, is another added expense and hassle. A few vegans have also found it necessary to supplement carnitine, which is considerably more expensive. Oh, and most vegans don’t get enough calcium and end up with bone problems. Many are also Vitamin D deficient, especially if living at high latitudes, if dark skinned, or if religiously using sunscreen. And Vitamin D2 (plant derived) is not as easily absorbed as D3 (which ONLY comes from animals), so you need even more of it.

Then there’s protein.

I personally cannot properly digest nuts. I react the way lactose intolerant people do to milk if I consume pistachios, walnuts, or pecans. Almonds are actively toxic to me. Hazelnuts mess with my brain.

Because I am on thyroid medication, I am not supposed to consume large quantities of soy, as it can make my thyroid worse, throwing off my dosage. I can have some, but I cannot use it as a major protein source. This is also true for trans men (the phytoestrogens intefere with testosterone therapy), cis men with low testosterone (same reason) and women with a family history of breast cancer (elevates risk). Excessive soy consumption has also been linked to early puberty in girls (Again, phytoestrogens) and reproductive/sexual problems in both sexes. Eating a bit of soy is fine, but tofu should not be used as a meat substitute except for the occasional meal.

This limits my access to non-animal proteins to beans and grains. If I was gluten intolerant as well (I’m not, but it’s in my family), it would be a real problem. The only dairy substitute available to me is rice milk (and rice causes many of the same problems environmentally as raising beef).

Oh, but it’s better for the environment, right?

Nope.

In addition to the already-mentioned quinoa, we’re cutting down rain forest in Mexico to grow avocados. Rice production is almost as bad for the environment as factory-based beef production for similar reasons. Also, plant-based foods, esp. fruit and fresh vegetables, are more likely to end up being wasted.

Studies indicate that if we all gave up meat tomorrow, all 7 billion of us gave up animal products forever, the good side would be the reduction in antibiotic use and greenhouse gas emissions.

How about the bad side?

1.3 billion people would lose their jobs overnight. 1.3 billion. 987 of them are poor.

Another thing that Ban Eating Meat Tomorrow types forget is that veganism is not necessarily the most effective use of farmland.

Uh, what?

The statement that if everyone switched to a vegan diet we would need a fraction of our current farmland assumes all farmland is created equal.

It simply is not.

I suspect that a lot of this perspective either comes from city dwellers who have no clue about farming or from people in the US breadbasket where there is a lot of high quality farmland suitable for raising food for humans.

The last global census in 2008 said that at that time, if all 6 billion people went vegan, it would need 3,068,444,911 acres of arable land. At the time there was about 3,212,369,959 acres of arable land: That is to say land suitable for raising crops humans can eat.

However, we’re building on, or otherwise destroying, arable land at the rate of about 1% a year and the population has grown.

We literally do not have enough arable land to feed everyone a plant-based diet.

And there are parts of the world that have a worse proportion of arable land to land only suitable for pasture than the US. Scotland comes immediately to mind. People in these places would have to import most of their food. I’m not sure Iceland could survive without eating fish.

If we all gave up eating meat tomorrow many of us would starve. I’m not exaggerating or being alarmist.

I’m also not criticizing people who choose not to eat animal products (just please make sure you get the required nutrients).

I am criticizing the “I don’t eat animal products and nobody else should either” crowd. Because it’s not that simple.

Also, bluntly, vitamin B12 deficiency can cause mood disturbances and paranoia…

But again, if you have to consume artificial supplements for whatever reason (unless it’s a personal absorption issue) your diet is not healthy.

Vegan fur is plastic

-The professor who asked us to argue one side of an argument or another for our papers but only let us use references that agreed with her opinion

-The guy reading aloud my script and didn’t understand that “he runs his hand through his hair anxiously” meant his own hair so he started anxiously running his fingers through the other guy’s hair

-“My character is based on me. He’s a nice guy who doesn’t have a lot of friends, he’s smart, girls don’t really pay attention to him and he’s never dated or had sex. … He’s not entirely based on me actually I shouldn’t have said that.”

-The professor who had us watch porn for homework then again in class while high schoolers were visiting

-The guy who was a super atheist who only wrote movies making fun of religion and took zero criticism because no one “got” his ideas

-“It’s about a society where robots have taken over all manual jobs so society is in upheaval as half the population is out of work. My main character is a super hero.” “Is he fighting against the rich people like Robin Hood?” “No he’s fighting the unemployed rioters.” “… That’s a bad idea.”

-The guy who wanted to be a voice actor so found every excuse to do his horrible voices in class with his favorites being a cartoon Asian accent and jive talk

-The time we had to be in groups and write a kids story and the group that unironically wrote about a scared bunny who learned to be brave and that playing in traffic is fun

-The film writing professor who didn’t know what the word climax meant in relation to plot points in a script and said she didn’t think films had a concept of having a story climax and it only happened in books
