“AI Dreams”: might be nice for an AI or other computer being; I actually made this one myself during a very strong AI flicker that I mistakenly thought was a kintype.

“Wasteland Radio”: maybe for fictionkin whose source is post-apocalyptic. I listened to this a lot during a Fallout fictionflicker. Also “Nuclear Ruins” is similar but, imo, much creepier, and I elected not to listen to it during my flicker, but it is very cool.

“Starport Terminal”: really really good for anyone from space. It really sounds like a realistic spaceport from a sci-fi universe full of aliens just living normal lives. I’m alienkind myself and I love this one more than any whimsical galactic-sounding soundscape. (Personally this is my favorite on MyNoise in general.)

“Glacier”: amazing for any arctic critters, especially aquatic ones because it really sounds like you’re swimming under the ice. Orcas, seals and polar bears are the main ones I can think of who might be interested in this but if there’s any Greenland shark or arctic shrimp therians out there, you should check this out too.

“Whispering Pines”: this one really takes me away and puts me in a raven’s happy place. Probably nice for other animals too, if your habitat is more northern; wolves, mountain lions, bears, etc.

“Sinister Ethereal Plane” is an interesting one that I think might be helpful to more incomprehensibly-inclined folk; fae, gods, benign eldritch beings, more traditional angels, etc. I find it soothing but I guess it could be more weird.

The Feelings Surround and Usage of the Words “Species Dysphoria” & “Transspecies” Survey is interested in the rates of species dysphoria within the nonhuman, alterhuman, therian, and similar communities, the level of usage of the term transspecies, and the overall perception of these terms within the communities. This survey is going to be left up for a long period of time in order to gather as much data over as wide a spread of people as possible. You are free to change your answers for as long as the survey remains up. All submissions are entirely anonymous.

The information will be used in an upcoming Othercon convention panel.

oookay. I've said this before and I will say it again, cause apparently it's still relevant... I just stumbled upon some so-called p-shifters in the otherkin tag and I don't like that.

physical shifting is NOT possible on earth! I would love to be able to believe in it, but as long as there isn't real proof, I won't. stay away from those people, especially if you're pretty young and/or new to the community. don't let them convince you you can learn how to p-shift or they can turn you or that "it's in your genes" because it's not.

I mean - I'm pretty open to paranormal things and kind of believe in ghosts and things like that and if you have actual proof of being a p-shifter, I'd love to see it because I WANT to believe you. and well, maybe real life werewolves exist - but if they do, I promise you: they are not all over tumblr and tell others about it.

all the "p-shifters" on this hellsite do is whining about how terribly hard their lifes are, come up with reasons why they can't show proof and at the same time feel special.

seriously. if you think you can physically turn into a wolf, a dragon or whatever your kintype is, you really should see a therapist... and I don't mean that in a fake-concerned or mocking way, I really am concerned because things like that can end super tragic and are usually known as clinical lycantrophy.

animals aren't P*TA cute all the time. watch any nature documentary and you'll see that. as therians we cant be held to the same "pure" standard that has been sweeping the internet. (to be fair, no one can but, i gotta reinforce it.)

i'm a genetic monstrosity designed to destroy with just enough intelligence to make rudimentary informed decisions--i was far more animal than sapient. i was designed as a weapon for war, my genes selected to allow me greater maneuverability, durability, prey seeking ability, and camouflage on the field of battle. my prey drive isnt animals--its humans.

i have this nasty habit of when i get angry, especially at a specific person, my indo instincts raise my quills and i envision all the ways i could slaughter the individual in question. does it bother me that it happens? i gonna be honest, no it doesnt bc it feels natural to me, it's just part of what i am. if anything, it helps me feel better about being angry, like playing a violent video game. do i recognize it's not ""normal""? yes of course. do i act on it?? no. do i wish i could? sometimes, yeah.
