The official trailer for Hadestown pro shot (2026) recorded at the lyric theatre in London
Staring- Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Andre de Shield as Hermes, Amber gray as Persephone & Patrick Page as Hades.
hey does anyone know why a lot of people when they reblog stuff copy every single one of the op's tags in their own tags, even when it's not even like for real tagging/organization purposes? like when it's just the op Talking? i feel like this has always been a thing and i still see it everywhere, especially on art posts, and i just dont get it lol
For all that the 1800s etiquette guides are--obviously--derangedly sexist from a modern perspective? They're also mindblowing in how casually they will assert things that MODERN DAY CONSERVATIVES would scream and cry and shit their pants about.
"People back then always married young it's natural!!!" Every single 1800s guide I've ever met casually mentions that, of course, you really shouldn't get married before you're at least 20, and waiting until 25 is usually better.
Or, like. Okay here's a long segment:
Just firmly going "it is crazy sexist to blame The Wife for overspending when thirty seconds of asking questions will immediately establish that her husband was outright lying to her about how much money they had. Talk to your wife like a normal person."
Or--okay, here. A section on being honest and not writing love letters in secret, because that's usually a good sign that there's something untoward going on....
....except that he then immediately acknowledges that sometimes, the reason you're hiding this from your parents is that your parents suck. That there are parents who frankly have not earned the right to approve or disapprove of your partner.
(I realize the phrasing there sounds a lot less strong than my summary, but--trust me on this. When you're familiar with the narrative voice of these kinds of books, this passage is downright radical. The mere acknowledgement that if you treat your kids badly, it's your own damn fault when they don't talk to you? I've genuinely never seen that before in this genre. Don't freak out over "properly trained", either. It's just a linguistic shift--at the time, "training" was used the way we would say "raising" a child today. )
"Delete all the nudes and sexts after a breakup or you're a piece of shit" has been the standard expectation since EIGHT. TEEN. EIGHTY. FIVE.
"Men and women being friends with each other is literally normal. Don't be a controlling freak."
Anyway I was wrong the publishing date is actually 1882 so like.
"If you have to abuse a child to keep order in your classroom then you're a bad teacher."
So like @ the modern Republican party, are the "traditional family values" in the fucking room with us right now--

Local Ballard raccoon has been spotted thriving in a remarkably unique and charming body
Yes he(?)'s actually factually real and has even been given an extremely millennial nickname: Jimothy. Wildlife experts advise everyone to just leave him alone and let him live his life
always some new bullshit in the ocean
Why is it always orcas or dolphins
Why can't a salmon do some bullshit for once
worry not ☝️ they're doing coke
it's weird that so few people seem to know that mormons largely run the troubled teen industry. ppl will imply that I'm religiously intolerant when I badmouth mormonism and it's like well. they child trafficked me. so. lol
it's why Utah has the worst youth rights laws in the country; bc the troubled child industry lobby fights all legislation designed to give kids more rights. it's a state-supported industry of child abuse run by the Mormon church 🤷

baseball fights are better than hockey fights because everyone expects a fight in hockey. baseball fights are some real hater shit
ABSOLUTELY COMICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
personally I am of the opinion that vegans who are like “the way our food system currently works under capitalism on a large scale is exceptionally cruel to all animals including humans and is not sustainable, so I’m doing what I can to make the most ethical choices available to me about what I eat and encourage others to do the same” are generally very reasonable people who I agree with in spades. but vegans who seem to think human beings are not themselves animals who are ultimately also part of the food chain but instead some kind of other paternalistic higher entity that can never engage in ethical and sustainable hunting practices (and especially the fringe I’ve seen who think other carnivorous animal predators are also evil and need to be eliminated) are people I regard as foolish at best if not actively anti-indigenous and racist
friend of mine recommended a video essay that's like 5 hours long about why it's currently a whole Thing for fascists to claim they only eat meat and demonize vegetables etc etc, and it's genuinely quite well researched in many places and contains some fascinating history and has made me feel very weird about my status as an adult who enjoys drinking milk. but I've not finished it and I genuinely don't know if I will because at one point the ol' "you can't say you care about animals and also eat animals" chestnut got dropped by the white vegan essayist and it put such a bad taste in my mouth that I had to leave instantly
like idk man it just feels genuinely parodic to dedicate hours to analyzing how foodways have frequently been used as white supremacist propaganda and then casually toss out an argument that pretty invariably demonizes indigenous hunting practices with 0 regard for traditional knowledge and land stewardship guiding those practices
okay on the suggestion of some folks in the replies I've gone back to finish the video. I don't object to any of the descriptions of animals being mistreated in many current methods of meat production! factory farming is very bad! people should be aware of how their food is produced, and as a meat eater I very much want the animals I eat to be treated humanely and with as much dignity as possible. however. I am also wondering why I was immediately subjected to a direct comparison between animals being killed for food and human women being sexually assaulted.
damn okay went back to the video and they said that people pointing out that vegan arguments frequently veer into racism are the real racists because some Indigenous people are vegans... they fucking got me
necessary disclaimer I guess that 1.) I don't have anything against the practice of veganism and 2.) I don't have anything against these youtubers who I know nothing about save for this video. I think they're thoughtful and passionate and broadly have a lot of interesting things to say but maybe missed the mark with some parts of this essay.
I did watch through the specific refutation that I was advised to check out and I can't say that it really did anything to dispell my initial gripes with the argument that one cannot both care about and eat animals, and the entire section debunking myths about veganism did in fact come across as overly defensive and needlessly adding on to the runtime of a video that's already exceedingly long.
as mentioned in another reblog, I also find the defense of PETA and the claim that its bad reputation comes entirely from shady corporate lobbyists as opposed to their history of racist, misogynistic, and ableist as campaigns.
girl help they're in the replies calling noticing racism "getting offended on someone else's behalf"

Driven to tears of joy over a spoon designed like a sea slug I spotted on eBay
I forgot to eat dinner so I'm having 11 pm corn on the cob. This counts as a meal
... It's possible that I really need to do some grocery shopping
Okay for those of you living in pitiful ignorance, take a raw ear of corn with the husk on and cut all the way around the base (as pictured: above the point where the husk meets the cob, so that the entire husk is severed but still wrapped around the corn.) Then, with the husk still on, microwave it for 5-7 minutes. It'll basically steam it inside the husk. Remove from microwave --it will be hot, so use a mitt or a towel--and firmly pull the top of the husk/silk, which should come off easily in one piece. If it doesn't, you probably need to cut a little higher around the base, so all the leaves are severed. No picking off silk; perfectly cooked corn.
