THIS, my friends, is called overindulgence! Part one of two images from the pinnacle scene for me for Andrew in the All For The Game trilogy. This one is called âDonât Touchâ. A second rendering named âMy Thingsâ will follow shortly. The pair will be available as prints in my shop with portions of sales donated perpetually to The Trevor Project. Spoilers for the series below!!
I put SO much time and research into this pic; perspective, anatomy, lacrosse gear, bo staff and mace training, SO much research, but still cannot do justice to how hard this series hit me with its characters. This scene in particular, one of the penultimate moments in the series, was the capstone for me for Andrewâs character arc. A throwback to what Andrew said to Riko in the beginning of the series âDonât touch my things,â apathetic Andrew never moved for Neil before this moment. Indirectly admitting that âthis thingâ, is a thing that Riko canât touch.

More and more Iâm realizing that while Neil is demisexual, Andrew is almost certainly demiromantic.Â
We know he feels physical attraction to other men; Roland, people in juvie (per Noraâs EC), etc. But itâs always a transaction, itâs always about his rules and who is willing to follow. Which makes sense, given his history, but I suspect until Neil he doesnât even know what romantic attraction means.
It must sound like a fairy tale to him: a story they tell children, to make them feel like they are always missing out on a secret that everyone else knows, to make them feel compelled to partner up, to pretend theyâre in on that secret too. But Andrew, heâs smarter than that. Heâs seen family after family, the violence and dirty secrets, the monsters that hide in the shadows of each âperfectâ little home with its picket fence and walk-in closets. Romance and love, delusions fed to the populace like drugs in the water.
At first, acknowledging his attraction to Neil is easy. Heâs pretty, and smarter than he should be, sharp-tongued and clever. Something pleasant to think about while getting himself off. But piece by piece, Neil is putting together the puzzle that is Andrew, faster than Andrew can do the same for Neil. Neil sees him, in a way Andrew has never been seen. Itâs unsettling, and intriguing, and the fascination grows.
Then Drake happens, and Easthaven, and for the first time in years Andrewâs brain is not being yanked around by the wrong medication. For that must have been it, right? The drugs, messing with his senses, making him seeâŚsomething, something that wasnât there, that couldnât possibly exist. A fairy tale. A pipe dream.
He gets out, and Neil is beat to hell and auburn-haired and blue-eyed and tattooed, and heâs looking at Andrew like that. Unafraid. When Andrew asks why he went to Evermore, and it was for himâsome misguided attempt to save the unsavableâit is fury that dominates Andrewâs untampered emotions. For how dare he? How dare he be so real, so easily able to make Andrew feel?
âDo it. Iâll take you with me.â He does, too. Andrew may have unwittingly pushed Neil into falling, but he was dragged after, every foundation of cynical reality he had built for himself crumbling. Heâs caught on the other side of the looking glass, in a world that looks like his own but distorted. In a world where it was possible to feel this for another person, to have that returned. To put someoneâs hand on his chest, and have it stay thereâjust there. To dip his toes into the fathomless water that is trust, and not have them bitten off by the monsters that reside within.
Andrew had never believed in fairy tales. Never, until he found himself in one.

JULYâs Chain of Gold Flash Fiction by Cassandra Clare
LONDON, 1901
One of Christopher Lightwoodâs earliest memories was of his mother, Cecily Lightwood, being rushed to the infirmary after a fight with a pack of Raum demons. Christopher and his older sister Anna were at the London Institute at the time, being looked after by their aunt Tessa and uncle Will while their parents were out on patrol. Tessa whisked Christopher away quickly, but not before he saw the worried look on Willâs face as he went to summon the Silent Brothers.
Later, Christopher sat by his motherâs bedside as she recovered from the Raum poison. She drifted in and out of consciousness, waking and smiling when she saw him and then falling back into sleep. Uncle Will waved his arms about a great deal, despairing that his sister was entirely too brave for her own good. Christopherâs father, Gabriel Lightwood, reminded Will that courage against all odds was what made them Shadowhunters, wasnât it? This caused Will to splutter. But Christopher could tell that his father had been truly frightened, and was deeply relieved that Cecily was recovering. Christopher leaned against his father.
âIs hunting demons scary?â He asked.
Gabriel sighed, and drew Christopher closer. âIt can be scary, but a world overrun by demons is much scarier.â
That made sense, but Christopher continued his line of questioning. âFighting them with swords and daggers, that is scary. But what if there are other ways to fight them?â
His father looked puzzled. âLike with ranged weapons? Bows and arrows?â
Christopher couldnât explain the ideas that were rushing through his head. He didnât have the language for them yet. Instead he just smiled. âNot exactly,â he said. âBut donât worry. Iâll figure it out.â
When Christopher was eight, his father and his uncle Gideon shut themselves in the study and talked in loud important voices about Christopherâs aunt Tatiana, and Tatianaâs boy Jesse. Christopher understood that Jesse was a cousin who he had never met, and that Jesse was sick.
Only a short while later, they received word that Jesse had died. Christopherâs father tried to visit aunt Tatiana, but she would not see him. When Gabriel came home, Cecily put her arms around him, and he cried. Christopher was shocked, less by his fatherâs tears than by the fact that theyâd had a cousin who theyâd never been allowed to meet, and now never could meet. Thoughts kept running around in Christopherâs mind. This is all wrong. If we had met him, we might have been able to help him. To save him. But when he said this out loud to his mother, Cecily only smiled sadly. âYou are a brave and daring boy,â she said. âThe world needs more minds like yours, Christopher. But you cannot take on the responsibility for saving every life. That is too heavy a load for one person to bear. The Silent Brothers were with Jesse before he died, and they are the wisest among us. Surely they would have saved him if he could have been saved.â
Christopher thought, But the Silent Brothers only hold certain kinds of wisdom. What if there was a different kind that could have saved Jesse? But he held his tongue.
Then, when Christopher was ten, Anna was bitten by a demon, and the wound became infected. The whole family was frenzied with worry for a day and a night over Christopherâs older sister. The fever was the problem that lasted, the problem that loomed in his mind demanding a solution. Far too often in his life, Christopher found himself thinking the same thoughts he had the day Jesse died. This is all wrong. Something must be done about this.
Christopher had many cousins. Matthew wasnât a cousin, but their parents were friends and they were as good as family: that was always understood. Christopher had called Matthewâs father uncle Henry since he could talk, and had always been impressed by the intriguing chair Henry got about in. Then one day Christopher got into Henryâs laboratory, which he found even more intriguing than the chair. Henry had left out his notes for an experiment, and Christopher promptly tried to perform said experiment.
You never forget your first explosion.
âOh, well done, most well thought out,â said uncle Henry, but then aunt Charlotte had âa wordâ with him. It was actually many words. Christopher didnât see why people were so inaccurate.
After the many words, uncle Henry said that Christopher was too young to be causing explosions, and the laboratory was a dangerous place, and Christopher wasnât allowed to touch anything in it without permission. Nor was Matthew, but Matthew didnât want to. Matthew was interested in talking about mystifying things, like how Uncle Henry should âeat moreâ and put a stop to a brilliant experiment for a foolish reason like âeverything is on fire.â
Christopher was impelled by true scientific curiosity. He thought over the problem, and gave himself permission to touch whatever he wanted in the laboratory. Sometimes Uncle Henry locked things up away from Christopher, so Christopher was forced to break into cabinets.
It was all quite vexing, but scientific progress was an avalanche that must not be stopped. Christopher read Marie Curieâs papers on radium, the element that could destroy tumors. He read John Snowâs essay on how cholera might spread through a public water pump. He attempted to write his own piece, on Henry Fairchildâs invention of the Portal. These were the people who were looking at the world inventively, seeking the root cause of the problems that plagued humanity.
âWho do you think is the Shadowhunter who has saved the most lives, boy?â the Inquisitor asked him, when the Inquisitor was visiting the Consul at her London home, and Christopher emerged from the laboratory to have a snack. âI suppose you think itâs your papa.â
âNo,â said Christopher after a momentâs thought. âI would say my Uncle Henry.â
The Inquisitor appeared thunderstruck.
âI performed an analysis,â Christopher said peacefully. âIf Uncle Henry had not invented the Portal, there is a strong possibility that our numbers would be less by a third. I believe you yourself would have died nine years ago, during the Dantalion attack on the York Institute. Since Portals will exist long after uncle Henry is dead, I expect he will end up having saved more lives than any other Shadowhunter, including Jonathan Shadowhunter. Unless I can invent something which will be as useful. Which naturally I aspire to do.â
Christopher returned to the laboratory thinking about demons. How they walked between worlds, how stabbing them was a temporary solution at best, since they could always re-form in their own home worlds and return to wreak more havoc. How no one else seemed to be looking towards the root of these problems. Well, almost no one.
âDoes it ever bother you?â Christopher asked Henry tentatively, a few hours later. âThe way our people are? What they value, and what they⌠donât?â
Henry laughed. âDoes it matter if it bothers me? It doesnât change the fact there is work to be done.â
It was a sensible and practical answer, but for once Christopher found himself wanting more. Henry understood him, the way Henry always seemed to.
âI know what I value,â Henry said firmly. âI do not think we are as separated from the ways of the Nephilim as you think. We are all warriors, charged by the Angel to keep the world safe in our different ways. We wonât win if any one of us fights alone. What do you want the most?â
âThere is so much wrong with the world,â said Christopher. âI want it to make sense. I want to put it right. I want to find the solutions that are overlooked by others.â He gazed upon the diatom arrangements, the shining brass of their microscopes, the weapons they were trying to modify and the devices they were attempting to invent. Matthew talked about truth and beauty a great deal. This was where Christopher had always found his.
âThis was what I felt most called to do,â said Henry. âI always thought it was right to use my mind, the best weapon I have, for the cause I believe in. It is a joy to see you reach for the weapon I reached for.â
âSo I should join you in all your experiments, then,â Christopher said triumphantly.
âYes,â Henry said. Then he hesitated, and for a moment Christopher thought he might deliver a lecture about being careful and preventing explosions. But Henry didnât. Instead he just said, âYes, we should.â
From then on, Christopher regarded science as not only that which he loved but as his Shadowhunter duty. Perhaps nobody else would ever think it, but he knew he was dedicated as an Iron Sister, a Silent Brother, a warrior stepping forward to face a field of demons.
When he was tired, or people were unreasonable, or his little brother wailed outside his door, Christopher remembered the smile on the face of the Shadowhunter he respected most, and Henry saying âCome, Christopher. Take up your best weapon, and fight your best fight.â

I was rereading son of Neptune and it occurred to me than it would have been really interesting if Percy had actually gone by Perseus until he received his memories back because it wasnât uncommon in pjo that when gods or monsters first encountered Percy, they would often use his whole name Perseus Jackson.
But in SON, the sisters of Medusa immediately call him âPercyâ and maybe you could even assume from the text that Lupa did as well considering this is what Percy refers to himself as, despite having no memory.
And I think it would have been more impactful if Percy had woken, no memory, and Lupa called him Perseus Jackson, and from there on out thats how he referred to himself. In a literary sense, it would have created a distinction between our Percy Jackson, the boy we know from the original series, who hated his full name and went by his nickname, and Perseus, the boy with no memory, and doesnât know to correct anyone because he doesnât remember.Â
By simply changing something so basic and yet so fundamental to him, it could have established a greater sense of uncertainty for the readers on if he was really going to get his memory back. It also wouldâve been cool to see characters like Hazel, Frank, and Reyna call him Perseus and, after he got his memory back, whether or not he would correct them, and if they would accidentally still call him that if he did.

And now you'll spend an eternity staring at the sky, looking for my favorite color.
Friendly reminder that -
Percyâs neutral expression is a natural brooding look that he gets from Poseidon
That when he does smile itâs crooked and makes him look like a trouble maker
When he talks itâs usually very sarcastic and/or impertinentÂ
His inner monologue is actually very negative and while we, as the readers, take it as a joke heâs usually pretty pessimistic for a good portion of the time
That when heâs fighting his expression is fierce and is hard to tell whether he is the good guy or not
That Leo Valdez equated Percyâs angry expression to the feeling he gets when Jason is about to shoot lightning. Let me repeat - just the look on Percyâs face when heâs angry was considered on par to Jason controlling flipping lightning
That heâs very very vindictive and loyal only to those he considers his friends and once you lose his trust it is nearly impossible to earn backÂ
That while he had the curse of achilles, he laughed crazily while he was single handedly destroying hordes of monsters
He made an entire volcano erupt, awakened a giant, and almost wiped out the northwest of the united states
He tortured a godess just so she would feel his misery
That heâs actually very manipulative and it made Annabeth step back for a moment and reevaluate her perception of him
That while his dark side came to itâs peak in house of hades and wasnât mentioned in blood of olympus, there was no confirmation that it suddenly and completely disappeared after they left Tartarus.
Has been the child of the prophecy twice.
He manipulated Bob to kill his own brother by simply convincing him that they were friends and that is what friends did for each other
He was physically abused by his step father
That with absolutely no training at all he killed the minotaur with itâs own horn at the mere age of twelve
He wins a good majority of his fights by simply outsmarting his opponentÂ
He has scared not only Annabeth but his friends and peers on more than one occasion with his attitude and powers
That heâs considered extremely powerful for a demigod and for a child of the big three and makes the gods slightly nervous
That when heâs upset his powers act to mimic his emotions without him even trying
Has been offered immortality
That he is actually really sorta intimidating without tryingÂ
That we need to stop reducing Percyâs character to a happy-go-lucky comic relief goofball that doesnât know his left foot from right because he is so much more than that
Well this post has unbelievably gotten more than 30k likes/reblogs and I can now die happy . To celebrate, Iâm extending the list of canon moments for those of you who are interested.
Percy has been to anger management classes.Â
The name Perseus literally translates to âTo Destroy.â Do with that what you will.Â
Percy and his mother systematically murdered his abusive step father. And not only did Percy not feel a bit of repulse at the idea of killing someone, he offered to kill Gabe by himself if his mother couldnât do it, then felt regret that he wasnât the one who strike the final blow. His exact inner thought was -Â âHow could I turn down the perfect chance to take revenge on him?â
After Percy killed Arachne in Tartarus, his exact words to Annabeth was âShe died too easy, considering how much torture he put you through. She deserved worse.â And it unsettled Annabeth so much that she was almost glad Arachne died quickly.
Like dam, if you havenât figured it out already, Percy kinda has a thing for revenge.
Percyâs powers grow extraordinarily fast, show no signs of stopping any time soon, and are no longer bound to only salt water or pure water liquids but now encompass all water-based liquids.
Percy blood bended in Tartarus.
âHe didnât want to stop. He wanted to choke this goddess. He wanted to watch her drown in her own poison. He wanted to see just how much misery Misery could take.â - Perseus Jackson while torturing Akhlys.
Luke and Kronos when talking about Percy not only referred to him as a weapon, but an unreliable one at that.
Frank literally compared Percyâs fighting style to a demon.
Percy pretty much took out half of the Roman Legion single-handedly during the War Games and basically just caused mass chaos and panic.
When Frank, Hazel, and Percy were traveling in SoN, street gangs didnât bother them because one look from Percy sent them running in the other direction. One look.
Percyâs wolf stare was described as âNo matter how bad you think you are, Iâm worse.â
Okay, a few things.
Percy and his mother systematically murdered his abusive step father. And not only did Percy not feel a bit of repulse at the idea of killing someone, he offered to kill Gabe by himself if his mother couldnât do it, then felt regret that he wasnât the one who strike the final blow. His exact inner thought was - âHow could I turn down the perfect chance to take revenge on him?â
literally the first time i realized that percy could and would bring down the heavens if the gods hurt his mother
also systematically murder is not quite descriptive of what he did. he turned gabe into a statue. That he then sold. HE SOLD HIS STEP FATHERS CORPS.Â
That heâs considered extremely powerful for a demigod and for a child of the big three and makes the gods slightly nervous
slightly nervous. guys percy was 12 when he sent the gods medusa's head and gone face to face with Ares they offered him immortality and were relieved when he turned it down
Percy pretty much took out half of the Roman Legion single-handedly during the War Games and basically just caused mass chaos and panic.
he decimated them in a way they had never before seen. he destroyed everything within sight and took out most of their army by himself and then was given one of the highest ranks within weeks of showing up.
This is not to say that percy is not goofy. He is. He jokes around and is a total mamaâs boy. One of the first things about his home in chapter three of the lightning thief is
âA word about my mother, before you meet her. Her name is Sally Jackson and sheâs the best person in the world, which just proves my theory that the best people have the rottenest luckâ
He is a mostly happy person, boy drives a prius in canon, hes not this âbad boy punkâ that people like to reduce him to, he also isnt a âstupid and useless boyâ. He stuffs his face full of pizza and makes jokes and in his internal monologue says things like âdragged them away by the scruff of their necks, like kittensâ Â
That is why we all loved the stories so much. Percy is a three dimensional character who âNever wanted to be a half bloodâ. Literally all he wants to do is eat his momâs blue cookies and be around his girlfriend.Â
Unfortunately the gods keep fucking that up for him.
I really like the addition you added to this because as this post has been reblogged many many times, a few people have stated that they dislike this post because it made Percy seem mean or and others like this posts for that exact reason.
My intention of this post was never to make Percy seem like âbad boy.â In other posts I talk about how I think he looks like a bad boy (as he is described looking like a trouble maker by virtually everyone) but I think things have been lost translation.
As you stated perfectly, Percy is a three dimensional character with many facets and character traits. He can be goofy and he can be rude and he can be serious and he can be happy. But the problem I was finding with the pjo fandom was that everyone was making him out to be this vapid, vain, happy-go-lucky goofball that only said obtuse things. And everyday when I first came to tumblr, I would see post after post after post characterizing him like this and I was genuinely confused because Percy never seemed that way to me - He was sarcastic, pessimistic, extremely resourceful, cunning, and had a gray sense of morality.
So when I made this post, I was trying to show other people âHey Percy is a lot darker and smarter than a lot of you are making him out to be, and really isnât an optimistic, obtuse happy-go-lucky idiotâ not âPercy is a bad boy and enjoys being mean to people and is constantly unhappy.â And it genuinely surprised me how many people took the later as what I was trying to say (Not a lot of people, but I feel like a lot of this current âjerk/meanâ fandomization of Percy may have been fueled by this post)
So to top it off - Yes, Percy has a dark side to him. Yes, it is a very important part to his character. Yes he is manipulative and is deadly smart and is extremely resourceful.Â
But no, he is not a jerk, and no, he is not mean. The only times he exhibits those traits are either unintentionally or when he doesnât like a person. Other than that, Percyâs overall a pretty great guy.
rick riordan really went there with the original percy jackson series.. he wrote a story about a kid with adhd living in an abusive, low income household who realizes that the generation before him created a world that he and the rest of his generation could not possibly thrive in and then refused to acknowledge that the society they crafted was detrimental to their children,, percy must make the decision to demand change in the end;
meanwhile his antagonist is a blond haired blue eyed kid from one of the top 20 richest towns in the united states who should have had it all but was denied it, causing him to come to the same realization years before percy ever does, but he believes the answer to their problems is to look to the past, to the traditions and methods of the Good Old Days without recognizing that the corruption and depravity of that era will only continue the cycle if they are implemented in the present day â luke believes the world needs to return to its former glory whereas percy realizes that the system will always be corrupt if they donât invest in an entirely new way to support the younger generation and basically what im saying is rick riordan has been stoking the revolution in us since middle school
aRz u HaVe a tUmBlr, g0 pOsT ur Sam Cortland sHiT đâ¨
and oh THIS IS NOT A SPOILER.
god i hate being alive i just wanna die in a national park under mysterious circumstancesÂ
ok im done being dramatic i finally started my homework and its not that bad

It is our duty as feminists to protect and respect women in Hijabs
Now. More. Than. Ever.
Question: if I see someone pull off a Hijab, what should I do? I know there are reasons they are worn so I want to if i should stand in between them and who did this, should i protect them from view somehow, or something else? This has been happening a lot so I feel itâs something everyone needs to know.
Good question! I cannot correctly and effectively answer, as I am a white, non-Muslim person; however, I will reblog in case any of my followers can answer.Â
I asked my Hijabi friend, so hereâs one Hijabiâs answer:Â
âmy opinion is, definitely try cover them or give them something to cover themselves with. And perhaps shoo off the person, without putting oneself in danger! God forbid, if that happened to me, I would like someone to come and comfort me and give me something to cover my hair with and then help me report it to the cops â
(Followers, if any of you are hijabi and would like to expand on this answer or offer alternatives, please do.)
If u see it happen to 1 of us, pls cover our head + hair with a coat or shawl or any piece of cloth, while hugging us in comfort. Please donât get hurt by lashing out @ the perpetrators in any way, coz if they dare to do that, theyâre probably too far gone in their own hatred to listen to any reason. Much love + Thank You to anyone who supports us.
yes !! everything said here is important af. if you see someone pull off a girlâs hijab immediately cover her hair and provide comfort. donât talk to the perpetrator but try to get the woman out of there if you can. maybe if you have a scarf on you at the time give it to her so she can wear it until sheâs alone and can replace her hijab. please please protect muslim girls because we already had it hard before donald trump became president and now its gonna be worse with people going around thinking their violence and cruelty is justifiedÂ
for my other white ppl who might have a hard time, itâs my understanding that a hijab is like a major item of clothing, not an accessory like a hat or a scarf. so think abt it more like if someone just ripped someoneâs shirt or skirt off. u donât want to be left there exposed or have to walk home without it.
everyone, even outside America needs to protect our Muslim sisters in these times.
as a man, what would be the best thing to do? should i turn my head and avoid looking at their hair? can i still offer a jacket or something similar?
^Iâm hoping someone has an answer islamaphpbia is on the rise in my town and I want to be a good male non Muslim ally
For men, yes please, we would prefer it if you avoided looking at our hair, and if we donât have something to substitute as a hijab at that moment, anything you could lend us, a jacket, etc, would be very appreciated.
Also, since most girls avoid physical contact with men theyâre not related to, please do not hug them, but rather shoo the offender away if you can, or at least escort the girl to a safe place. You can still offer words of encouragement and support. Furthermore, understand that the victim may not be very welcoming towards you because sheâll obviously be shaken, and wonât know where you are coming from. If thatâs the case, please still give her something to cover herself (hijab is very important, think of it as someone ripping your shirt off) and stand some distance away until you are sure sheâs in safe hands.
Thank you so much for your support, we really appreciate it, god bless all of you.
In the horrible climate weâre currently in, please take note of this.
Reblogging this again for the guy-instructions
