Little things in TGWDLMR that I LOVE
⚠️Spoilers ahead for those that haven’t seen it!!!!⚠️
The emotional intensity. Wow.
Mariah Rose Faith Casillas take a fucking bow for “Not Your Seed” good LORD
Corey Dorris’ Bill absolutely WRECKED me this time around. His grief and emotional intensity surrounding Alice’s capture and death were stunning, as well as his comedic beats and lighthearted moments shared with Paul and Ted.
THE CHOREO???? Especially during “America is Great Again” and “Let It Out”
Will Branner as Professor Hidgens. Blew it outta the water and then some. My favorite war criminal 💕
Also Hidgens’ little “hmph!” between “markets are crashing and I’m at the edge of my wits / I just can’t take it!” I GIGGLED
RUTH AND MAX IN LA DEE DAH DAH DAY sobbing. Poor kids.
Joey Richter’s newfound earnestness in Ted and his relationship with Charlotte
(Also you cannot convince me that during Ted’s “people who are alive and people who are fucking dead!” that he didn’t not see music zombie Pete.)
The choreography callbacks to the opening number during “Show Stopping Number” JAMES TOLBERT IM GIVING YOU ALL YOUR FLOWERS
POKEY ONSTAGE DURING LET IT OUT!?!
Jon Matteson your vocals KILLED ME in the best way. Holy shit.
Having Mr. Davidson wrap the phone cord around Paul’s neck was simultaneously nefarious and yet so simply set up the much darker tone the show would take on this time around. Incredible directorial choice, Lauren Lopez my beloved.
Jamie Lynn Beatty’s Charlotte continues to bewitch me mind body and soul. Her visceral grief and complete loss of speech after Sam’s death was phenomenal, as well as her BELT during “Join Us And Die.”
Emma very much felt like the One Normal Person in a room full of absolute fucking freaks and I lived for that. She had the most REAL reactions to everything. And of course Lauren Lopez continues to be a comedic genius - the almost kiss and splattering blood on Paul’s face destroyed me. That and “Alley Cat Paul.”
Speaking of likely improvised moments - Will Branner screaming “this one has muscles!” about Pokey inhabiting Max Jägerman’s body had me in hysterics.
There’s so much more I probably missed but that’s all I’ve got for now. Everyone say thank you Starkid for continuing to create such phenomenal works of theatre!!!!!
