âi never doubted that, you know. and iâm guessing you probably hate the term, but essentially, youâre like a den mother. you keep us all in line.â beck didnât know too much about jocelyn, besides the fact that he wouldnât completely be stunned if it turned out that she did have a stick up her ass. still, they were teammates in a way, and he couldnât fail at his job because thatâd mean disappointing her. he could only imagine whatâd go through her head if she really let down the top bosses. it wouldnât be pretty.  âi think we all fit in the same puzzle, joss.â he murmured, stifling a yawn as he studied her expression.  âi know we donât really see eye to eye, but if you ever need a confidant or somethingâŚiâm here. you can even make me sign a nondisclosure agreement for that.â he stood a little straighter, trying to smile.  âso, are you serious about the uber? or would you prefer a piggyback ride?â he was teasing. mostly. Â
why the young man was so persistent with her, jocelyn would never know. she wasnât the easiest person to converse with but he did it regardless of whether she wanted his company or not. there was something rather ENDEARING about him but she couldnât quite place what it was about him. as young as he was, beck was right; she couldnât do work like this and any mistakes would cost her a lot with the network executives who already had a disliking of her. she was a successful woman in this industry, she was bound to have some enemies but the problem was that she was never supported by them. despite being at zenith for decades, the woman was still trying to prove herself and it was tiring. deep down, joss knew that she needed to stop getting so drink but she lacked self control. âdonât push it, beck.â offering a smile to him, she placed her hand on this shoulder at nodded.
