there should be a national break from school and work in october for watching scary movies and reading gothic literature. and for sitting on the porch & hanging up string lights. i think.
"Let's go to a bookstore and I'll buy you books" is a love language
Weekly Bookish Question #318 ( January 1st - January 7th)
typical first question of the year: What’s the first book you’re picking/have picked up in 2023?
I’m continuing on with If We Were Villains. Didn’t read today, but giving #sleepyreadathon another whirl.
Scenes of Clerical Life by George Eliot. I haven’t started it yet, but I’m going to this afternoon.
George Eliot is such a hit or miss writer for me - I’d love to hear what you think of this one (to see if it’s worth reading)
Mine is 813, by Maurice Leblanc, from the Arsène Lupin series! I actually started reading it late december 2022, but he’s kinda huge and it’s taking me a while hauahau
Im reading “The Secret History” by Donna Tart.
I think its a pretty popular one right now but im really enjoying it! It’s quite long- almost 2,000 pages on my phone (big text though).
Is it having a resurgence or constantly popular? I remember it being very popular when I read it a couple of years ago, too!
I started The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri and it’s good so far, really interesting plant/human magic system. I’m also planning to read If We Were Villains soon
The Silver Bullets of Annie Oakley by Mercedes Lackey. A little slow, but still fun.
I just looked it up and wow, that’s part of a massive series! Have you read many of the other books as well?
finished The Santa Suit and then reading Supernova..
Remember you are a human first. Before you’re an employee, a student, a cook, an artist, you’re a human being who deserves love, compassion, and understanding.

★ Fans of the Maasverse: Throne of Glass, A Court of Thorns and Roses, or Crescent City?
Look at me, asking questions I can’t even answer myself 🤣 ACOTAR is probably my favorite because it was the first of SJM’s series I had ever read, but I think I hold the most nostalgia for Throne of Glass—simply because reading it was transformative for me. I miss Throne of Glass a lot.
And Crescent City is the world I’m most fascinated by and relate to the most! I still think it’s where her best work shines. ♥️
Have you read all of the books in the Maasverse?

Every library in london is dreamy, a series by me
★ What is a series or author you’d like to see @illumicrate feature in 2023?
I’m so excited to see Illumicrate doing Crescent City and finishing out The Last Hours, and can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in 2023! Maybe more SJM? 👀 Or some NK Jemisin? 🧐
Working with the incredible Illumiteam continues to be a dream. Here’s to another incredible year 🥂 ♥️ 😘
