When they were younger all of the Koopalings would just take everything Ludwig said at face value and believe whatever came out of his mouth because he’s intelligent.
Being intelligent he caught on quickly and used it to his advantage to mess with his siblings. His favorite activity for years was to just lie to them in a dead serious tone and see how long he could get away with it.
I’m talking telling them moose weren’t real and were fictional like unicorns and mermaids, they were allergic to strawberries (to get them to stop eating his), or the paper part of a kisses is edible and meant to be consumed.
Oh the joys of having gullible siblings. He misses those days. The funny thing is, it still works sometimes.

Back in 2010 (wow, sixteen years ago), I saw a ton of fanart and headcanons of Ludwig being a music buff of the classical arts and I said to myself, as I dove into the Immortal Fool Comic with Brutal Legend still fresh in my mind...
"I'm going to make a Ludwig that pisses people off"
And I failed as nobody openly complained, but i loved the outcome anyway. No outfits back then because i was still figuring out what i was doing, but now that most of my iFool koopaling designs have outfits, i can't leave him out of this collection!
Anyway,
Ludwig has been around since the first main story, accompanying Bowser Jr in delivering Kamek's minions over to Beanbean for a science convention. Then we find out he only took the job because he was following K.K. Slider's Lowkey Accoustic Tour.
In terms of how he's doing since the big Koopaling breakup, Ludwig is the final Koopaling (along with Wendy, but in her new role) to still live at Bowser's Castle. As the self-proclaimed leader (and Jr's sole babysitter now), he believes everyone will be back home at some point and he wants to be ready to lead once again when that happens.
And while the mad science days of his childhood (referring to the cartoons) are long over, he is still an expert mechanic when he needs to be and is Bowser Jr's airship pilot (or generally, an airship pilot similar to a person owning a heavy duty pickup truck whose only friends are people that want the person to move their furniture).
he will... sometimes... outsource mechanical work to he could vibe to music and be lazy.

And I feel a little awkward when I look at other people's cool color works that stand next to these little sketches.. but it calms me down to think that maybe such stupid things make someone happy and reduce other people's anxiety haha) Oh, I really want to believe in it..

My head canon with Ludwig's voice is he hides his German accent because he thinks it's embarrassing. Masking it with a British accent, hoping it will make him look more educated and mature. He started to hide it as a teenager, but sometimes it will slip.
I also wanted to exaggerated expressions inspired by bold anime reactions that I truly adore. I love Iggy's the most.
