and they don't stop coming, and they don't stop coming, and they don't stop coming, and they don't stop coming
Ladies, it’s time to be proactive about your ao3 experience and block them on the site skin level!!
step 1.
Go to skins tab
step 2.
create site skin (not work skin!! Site skin)
step 3.
This is where the magic happens.
you’re only interested in that big box (though you will have to give your skin an unique title)
in there, you paste this:
(This just an example, obviously)
.blurb:has(a:is( [href*="*s*reader" i], [href*="*s*you" i], [href*="goncharov" i], [href*="goncharov*s*katya" i], [href*="goncharov%20dies" i], [href*="top%20goncharov" i])) { display: none !important; }
in my method, if I want to filter something new, I'll duplicate a line of this code like such (comma at the end is important)
[href*="goncharov" i],
temporarily, it'll look like this:
.blurb:has(a:is( [href*="*s*reader" i], [href*="*s*you" i], [href*="goncharov" i], [href*="goncharov" i], [href*="goncharov*s*katya" i], [href*="goncharov%20dies" i], [href*="top%20goncharov" i])) { display: none !important; }
and now I replace that duplicate with whatever tag I want to mute, replacing only what is inside quotation marks, like so:
[href*="piss" i],
and now it looks like this
.blurb:has(a:is( [href*="*s*reader" i], [href*="*s*you" i], [href*="piss" i], [href*="goncharov" i], [href*="goncharov*s*katya" i], [href*="goncharov%20dies" i], [href*="top%20goncharov" i])) { display: none !important; }
Mind that you replace spaces with %20 and slash with *s*. For example, "coffeshop au" won't filter it; "coffeeshop%20au" will. Similarly "/reader" won't work, and "*s*reader" will. Remember, only write inside the quotation marks. You can also copy the tags you want to filter directly from your browser’s search bar, then they’re already formatted correctly, like:
And presto, save your site skin, use it, and you will forever filter anything you want. You can add more tags to filter any time you want.
This, as an enabled site skin, will work across all your devices. Mind that the filtered works are hidden, but still count into the 20 fics per page that ao3 offers. Therefore if you're, like me, terminally picky about fic, you might end up with 3 works per page.
Is this nice, clean coding? Probably not. But it works!
I know it doesn't help with tumblr experience, but you can make ao3 way smoother!

Danny Elfman... now jamming out!
What's an Oingo Boingo fact you really want to share, but never really had a place to share it? Or just any dumb Oingo Boingo facts are fine, I want to know MORE! >:D
Hm hm. Well, here's the cut of the day:
In 1982, Boingo collaborated with Maya Shouno, a popular J-Pop artist at the time. There's not a lot of info as to why this came about, but it's fascinating nonetheless. The song "Oh My Papa", in particular, is very reminiscent of Only A Lad.
Boingo (1994) is unique to the rest of Oingo Boingo's discography in more than just soundscape. The album was only released on CD and cassette - no vinyls, minus a possible promotional one. The US cassettes and EU CDs included "Helpless", or as I like to call it, "Schrödinger's song" - it's unreleased, but it's also not. Cassette exclusive tracks are somewhat of an OB staple; the original "Gratitude" is another but I'll talk about that come November.
Speaking of SO-LO, we finally got an official reason for why it was released under Elfman's name, despite the fact that it's Boingo's fourth album. According to Steve Bartek, MCA records was only interested in signing Danny on - they didn't want the rest of the band. The album was made in an attempt to get them interested in the group. I'd say it payed off!
Supposedly, "Little Girls" got the band banned from performing in Canada (that might be a joke). Also, they played this song at a high school. In front of a bunch of kids.
There's only one book about Oingo Boingo - the unofficial Clowns of Death. I have it, and it's awful. However, as Danny seems reluctant to write anything about OB's history, it may be the only account we'll get. I might scan it and upload here...legally, of course.
Oingo Boingo's performance at US Festival 1982 is a bit of enigma. US Festival was a hot event, there's footage of almost everyone who was at the 1982 show, except for Boingo. There's soundboard recordings, there's backstage footage, but no one in the OB fan base seems to have the main event on tape. There's a documentary about US Festival that includes a few seconds of Boingo's appearance, which leads me to believe whoever made it has access to the full show. There's a full recording sitting out there somewhere, unreleased for whatever reason. It drives me insane.
"I'm Afraid" is a fun little relic from the Mystic Knights era. It was played during the band's "transitional" phase, so it includes a little quirk: there was a costume change before it was played. Sluggo would play "Nature Zone" (which appeared on his solo album) and Danny would dive backstage to change into a set of pajamas. He'd come out as "Nature Zone" was ending, with a big teddy bear in his arms, and sing "I'm Afraid." There's actually an audio recording on here that references the pajamas.
Finally, just a little one before you go: the name "Vatos" was created because Danny wanted everyone to have nicknames in the early days of Boingo. Sluggo probably got his name from this time, too.
Here to add photographic evidence to these lovely facts, in case anyone was interested:

He does not have a pilots license!!!!!!!! Everyone in the plane will die!!!! Daniel elfman!!!!
I wish Danny elfman worked at Texas Roadhouse so I could make him bring me an absurd amount of sweet tea and bread
