Another fun fact: I saw people online try and claim that wide peripherals meant that a person had grown up in an abusive household. This is more of a potential indicator rather than a certainty. People with wider peripherals usually has them from trained surveillance/situational awareness, like from people watching or from being in a sport that requires you to watch more of the world around you. Same with people being able to identify a person from a large distance based on their posture and gait or someone knowing who is approaching them before seeing them due to the sound of their footsteps. Smell is also one of the strongest memory activators in the human senses, so we can sometimes smell a person before we see them.

the fuck do you mean you hate rick? the man whose wife was murdered before his eyes? the man who spent his entire life searching for a way to get her back? the man who tried to get revenge on the one who killed her, and upon doing so felt the same emptiness he felt for decades and realized that no amount of grieving and pain and backwards travelling could change the outcome? the man who cries when he knows he's in actual danger of losing his grandson? the man who, after years of fuckups, slowly gets better and truly loves his family even if he still makes human mistakes sometimes?

The slow and realistic character development, the parallels, the THEMES. People who've only seen an episode or two, haven't watched it at all, or half-paid attention and falsely assumed it's all sci-fi gags and parodies and clever references are wild. Like YES it is all those things but it's ALSO an amazing story of a broken man trying to piece together the shattered remnants of his humanity while his trauma screams at him in his head that all he'll ever be is a worthless alcoholic failure who couldn't protect his wife and daughter and doesn't deserve happiness.

YES an argument could be made that he's an irredeemable shitbag for all the things he's done, but that's why his character is compelling. If he was a one-dimensional "my family was killed and I sought revenge and did everything morally correct except some cool n justified homicide" then it wouldn't be too difficult to sympathize with him now would it?

Except he isn't that, he's the co-star's abuser and his abuse ranges from demoralization to putting him directly in mortal danger and forcing Morty, the direct opposite of Rick, to do horrible things that deeply traumatize him (sometime to the point of needing his memory erased) and make him more like Rick. Lot harder to sympathize with the guy when we love who he's hurting. Even though he IS slowly healing and improving (so proud of him btw) that doesn't erase the damage he's done getting there.

This is a guy who will grab a stranger's mystery pipe with both hands and bend for it (while maintaining FULL eye contact), who joyfully (and stylishly!) gunned down enemy combatants who were waving white flags (aka had surrendered! That's a war crime bruh!), who voluntarily hangs out with Rick (no matter what Rick does!), who leaves one "highly intense soul bond" only to immediately hook up with someone less than half his age at his morally grey besties house party, as per said besties party request, all while FULLY AWARE their other friend is jerking off in a closet, then OPENLY discusses his fantasies about having run away with that bestie while his high school fiancée is in earshot (because he lives with her, and yet somehow still does not know what humans even eat), then marries her (but gets drunk before the ceremony), and after THAT doesn't work out tries to *explode his own head* using pure grief, rage and self-hatred, heedless of the fact that there's a whole other entire person currently inside it with him.

So Birddaughter is a serious rebel and hates the galactic federation, which leads me to believe that she would have to know who Rick is bc like, who tf doesn’t, (and BP also has at least 1 image of Rick hanging in his house) and what if she actually has an admiration for him and all the crazy shit he’s done? Bc given her whole thing is rebellious-angsty-teen, she probably has some also-rebellious role models. She’d probably kinda see him as a badass, all things considered. I mean, he’s known for toppling the organization that she hates ffs. I’m just saying that I think it would be interesting af for her to respect Rick who guides her to respect BP and whether Rick wants to admit it or not, BD actually begins to grow on him and he ends up helping parent her but not doing it intentionally, y’know? Like he doesn’t even realize he’s practically become her parent
