Some people are so against “pregnant people” because it includes trans men and nb folks that they don’t seem to realize it includes cis women and girls.
A huge number of trans men have said that the term triggers their dysphoria but alright
Alright.
No, I won’t just say “pregnant women.” Because I’m talking about pregnant people, women included.
How many trans men do you know of who want to be pregnant?
It’s ridiculous to try to change language to be inclusive of the 0.0001% at most. Just because pre-T trans men CAN get pregnant doesn’t mean they do except in VERY rare cases. I can’t think of anything that would trigger a trans man’s dysphoria more.
Actual trans man here!!!! I had a baby and you know what was triggering??? People lumping me in with women literally constantly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My entire pregnancy everything was about pregnant women!!!! I was constantly referred to as a pregnant woman in all of the resources and literature!!!!!! Not to mention the fact that people like you are the reason I wasnt able to find gender neutral or masculine pregnancy clothing!!!! So I was uncomfortable literally ALL THE TIME
But you’re going to sit here and PRETEND to care about men like me who WILLINGLY go through pregnancy and child birth by…. Refusing to recognize that we exist in far greater number than you think?? You’re literally going to sit there and use us as a weapon against… US???? What kind of fucked up next level transphobia is that??????
We exist, we’re here, and just because you’re transphobic doesn’t give you the right to use our names in your crusade against us. Pregnancy was triggering in its own ways, but you know what? I would do it a billion times over for my child. I would go through all of it again and again and again for them. It can’t be helped that that was what was necessary to bring them into the world
But what CAN be helped is transphobic people like you not exacerbating our dysphoria by insisting on calling us women just because you don’t like acknowedging that we exist. I’m not a fucking mythical unicorn that you can pull out to try and win arguments. I’m real. Sorry that this is inconvenient for you.
Second trans man weighing in here. I also have been pregnant, a total of three times. The first resulted in the birth of my daughter, and I knew I was trans before getting pregnant. After having her we realized that my window for having the second child that we wanted was closing because my dysphoria was getting worse and worse and I ended up having a miscarriage at 8 weeks, which sucked, and then a miscarriage at 22 weeks, which as devastating because 1) 22 weeks was a fucking long time to fight through dysphoria only for a pregnancy to fail, 2) i knew that my dysphoria was bad enough that I could never put myself through this again, so our dream of having 2 kids was over and 3) my temporary physician’s refusal to listen to me when I said that I would never be pregnant again and to please schedule me for a d&c was flat out ignored because she was certain I’d change my mind and decide to have another baby and wouldn’t let me do anything that wasn’t let the tissue pass naturally, which is unfortunate because my body straight up hung onto it for six fucking months. I spent half a year that I desperately wanted to be considering a plan for transitioning going in for weekly blood tests to measure my levels, of having people, doctors, nurses, blood lab technicians telling me that it was okay, I’d “get to be a mommy again” as soon as this was all cleared up.
So much of having children is centred around being a mother, being a woman, the gift of motherhood. I hated every second of that, and that was all anyone could talk about through all of it. But you know what? I still had a baby. What would you have me do? Pretend I didn’t? Throw either myself or my husband under the bus every time someone asks how we managed to acquire a baby? How our family exists? Who do I devalue? Whose contribution is less important? Who has to pretend that they’re not genetically related to our child, who gets the credit for how fucking hard it was to bring her into this world, into a family that loves her more than anything?
Pregnancy was not easy, and it was even harder because of my dysphoria. I sacrificed a LOT to make our family happen, and I would rather be counted among ‘pregnant people’ than ‘pregnant women’, and I certainly don’t want to hide my hard fucking work to make others feel comfortable.
Trans men can and do have their own children pre, mid and post transition, and we’re far more common than you seem to think we are. Don’t speak on our behalf, especially when we’re loudly telling you to stay in your own lane.
Im a trans man who plans on getting pregnant quite soon i prefer ‘pregnant person’ and while I’m pregnant if anyone calls me a pregnant woman i am going to slap them.
While we’re at it, the insistence on equating pregnancy with motherhood/womanhood is the exact kind of thing that makes people think they can only refer to sperm-producing parents as “the father”, which is also infuriating (if not quite as infuriating as it would be to be pregnant on top of that)
I’m not trans or non binary, so if you are one of those things, feel free to disagree with me because you know better.
But like, it’s unfair to ask men to be more involved in child rearing without allowing the men who can carry babies have kids. Or allowing them to, but calling them mothers. It reminds me of how stigmatized men are for taking care of kids. Or hell, even calling them “mommy dads” or whatever.
We know trans men exist. And we should acknowledge their masculinity despite whatever parts they may have. And just like what we should expect from any other man in 2017, we should expect men to be able to do an equal amount of child rearing as possible, and that can include carrying the baby if they have a womb.
Let men have babies 2K17. Let NB people have babies too btw. 2K17.
As a trans dude, I 100% agree. I even have my own story to add on about the whole “mommy dads” thing.
After coming back into state to stay with my wife’s “family” (we don’t call them that now, but we did at the time due to being related) until we could get a place. We were there most of my pregnancy and when I legally changes my documents.
It was her “father”, his wife, and their 3 kids.
Around comes mother’s day. I’m up in the morning, probably didn’t go to bed yet. She comes over and wishes me a happy mother’s day. I made kinda an awkward smile and wished her one as well.
Later she tells my wife she didn’t even think before saying it (no shit)
But it was okay! Cause fathers can be mothers too!
She literally fuckin said that.
No. That’s not how it works.
Trans man here with a 6 day old infant who was planned and much wanted and deeply loved. We exist in far far greater numbers than people seem to think. A lot of trans men want to have families the same as everyone else and a lot of us do. I have the equipment so I used it and I’m very glad I did. But everything regarding pregnancy being automatically woman-oriented was incredibly hard for me to deal with whilst facing dysphoria. ‘So few trans men do it that there’s no need to change the language!’ - bullshit. Changing the language we use regarding pregnancy and childbirth does no harm to women at all and helps those of us who aren’t women. It doesn’t have any negative outcome. It is literally just including everyone. If you’re against that, your transphobia is showing.
As a trans man who does find the possibility of pregnancy intensely dysphoric, I absolutely prefer “pregnant people” to “pregnant women.” I also prefer gender neutral language surrounding birth control for people who can get pregnant, because that is what I am. There might not be as many trans men who want to have babies, but if you don’t want to get pregnant, then the conversation switches to birth control. Everything about women’s reproductive health is framed as women’s reproductive health, even if you’re a man.
So no, they’re not pregnant women. They’re pregnant people. These are not feminine hygiene products. They’re menstrual products. This is not female birth control. It’s birth control, and it’s mine.
Nonbinary, been pregnant five times, have three living children. Have been a doula and childbirth educator in the past and dedicated most of my adult life to issues around pregnancy, childbearing, breastfeeding, babywearing and parenting.
Gender inclusive language is a must.
Educator at a school for teen parents. We have several teen dads here as well as teen moms, and one of those dads gave birth to his daughter himself. Within a couple weeks of his enrollment, we’d changed our language– maternity leave became parental leave, nursing mothers became nursing parents, etc.
It took so little effort to make this change. It caused no problems for anyone. A pregnant woman who is referred to as a pregnant person is not going to be insulted because she is a person. Inclusive doesn’t mean changing from one thing to another, it means a change that encompasses more things.
Women are people. Mothers are parents. Get over it.
this is a way better model... you'll still get transphobic & intersexist drs of course but i prefer this to male / female or even having separate questions for gender & sex.
[we can't see the full form, but i'd suggest having a "something else" option and dominant hormone question too.]
as a cis woman who's had a hysterectomy and partial oophorectomy, this would be helpful for me, too! it'd be pointless to try to diagnose me for disorders that affect organs I don't have anymore, after all.
being inclusive helps us ALL. 💖
we could probably calculate the amount of man hours wasted on testing trans women and women who have had hysterectomies or oophorectomies for pregnancy every time they're admitted to the emergency room and justify it on that basis alone.
Please never stop ignoring that white supremacy is a huge core element of radfem/terf ideology.
Like yes they hyperenforce gender roles and stereotypes on all cis women, but it is primarily women of color that they target and accuse of being predatory and "not real women" when they're targeting cis women.
The metrics of "real woman vs trans woman" that terfs love to share are almost all just white eurocentric beauty standards. Small nose, thin fine hair, little/no body hair, petite but somehow curvy, hell I've even seen a post saying skin lightness is a determiner.
Terf/radfem circles are racist at their core. You cannot separate radical feminism from it's violently white supremacist roots. You can't have "anti-racist radical feminism", that's a fucking oxymoron. There is a very clean path from terfs to tradfems/tradwifes, to just straight up conservative republican women.
Yes yes always, terfs are super misogynistic. They hurt all women by forcing them back into the little impossible painful boxes that they claim they're fighting. But one of their biggest targets other than trans women is black women. Not to mention ignoring, discrediting, or just straight up trying to erase all the hard work that black trans women did for queer rights.
Radical feminism is very much transphobic, homophobic, and misogynistic. I'm not saying stop addressing it as such. Don't ever do addressing it as such!
But racial feminism is white supremacy in a coat of pink paint. Please never forget that when talking about how it hurts us all.
OMG this is disgusting, offensive and right on target.
The Heritage Foundation is simply trying to make laws so that law makers will decide what is best for you and your medical decisions instead of you and your doctor.
They use vast amounts of power and money to in act policies of "limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values." The Heritage Foundation acts with the intent to control reproductive rights which includes abortion access; feminine products and birth control.
Remember, you may not like it when others in power are making decisions in your best interest without your input, but that's simply because you fail to understand their motivations.

oh so they’re just saying the quiet part out loud? Good to know they’re just out and open now
That’s not the quiet part.
There’s something else, something they might not even be fully aware of themselves. The real quiet part is that if it was *their* child or *their* ectopic pregnancy they’d pull out all the stops to save their life or get their grandchild aborted. Planned Parenthood sees reactionaries and regressives all the time, and they are every bit the nightmare patients you’d imagine them to be. But the one thing all those patients have in common is that *their* abortion is *justified*, and the next week they’ll be outside the clinic again, rejoining the protestors for “killing their baby”.
It’d be one thing to have ghoulish principles, but the far-right have none at all.
When the Anti-Choice Choose By Joyce Arthur Copyright © September, 2000 Available in a French translation Available in a German translation
When I was younger and had more time to waste on the internet, and spent a lot of time in various online forums getting into arguments -- on purpose -- I made up a game I called Six Degrees of Slut.
The game (which is a variation on the well known Six Degrees of Bacon) was very simple. In any discussion of abortion, see whether you could get the other side to articulate, within six back-and-forth exchanges, some variation of The Filthy Sluts Must Be Punished. Regardless of where their argument started, the goal of the game was to get them to admit that.
I never once lost a game of Six Degrees of Slut. On a few occasions the match was inconclusive - the other person left off arguing before we reached round six - but I never lost; I never once reached six rounds of debate with a prolifer without them expressing some variation on this sentiment. But what was really remarkable to me was, a lot of times, that there was no effort involved at all -- they would blurt it out themselves, with effectively no provocation.
Scratch a prolifer, and you'll find right under the surface the conviction that The Filthy Sluts Must Be Punished. I have never once yet found an exception. Sometimes you don't even have to scratch.
That's what we really need to understand about reactionaries. The degrees to which they dehumanize others cannot be overstated. It's never hypocrisy for them if they get an abortion because, see, they had valid reasons. Nobody else ever would. They are just special, they are just better than you.
Please never stop ignoring that white supremacy is a huge core element of radfem/terf ideology.

🖤💜 Happy international asexuality day! 🖤💜🐀
Asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction to others, or low or absent interest in or desire for sexual activity 🖤💜
(anti-ace bullshit will be immediately blocked; do not swallow exclusionist crap, and do not carry water for those who hate all of us.)

“can straight men be romantically and sexually attracted to men?” sure, I’m not a cop
you know what I do when someone’s identity makes no sense to me? I go “not my business.” and find something else to care about
I don't know much about lady Gaga but I saw this clip on my timeline once years ago and since then I've been ride or die. idc. she a real one. I need this energy from more cis folks
The Republican cruelty is barbaric.
Why would you want to be to be having children in Texas? Every problem could kill you. Why would you want that existential dread?
The misogyny is medieval.
Hi guys! I'm here to tell you about some of the stuff Project 2025 would do to America.
Number One: Making America a Christian Nation. What this means is the separation of church and state would be gone, and Trump will implement a "Bible-based system of government". Practicing other religions could be banned.
Number Two: Climate Change. Project 2025 will be completely removing most of the nation's regulations to help our environment. Abandoning ways to reduce greenhouse gases, abolishing the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, relaxing regulations on fossil fuels, encouraging fossil fuel usage, and supporting arctic drilling.
Number 3: Letting states control education. No more nationwide education, every state chooses what it wants to do. Possibility of removing accommodation plans for students who need it, no more free school meals even for free and reduced lunch plans, and the quote "Education is a private rather than a public good."
Number 4: Giving the president more power. The branches of government are supposed to balance each other out, make sure no one branch gets too powerful. This will make that a lot harder.
Number 5: Foreign Affairs. Congressional approval would not be required for the sale of military equipment and ammunition to a foreign nation. Also "The word gender would be systematically purged from all USAID programs and documents"???? "Such aid will not be allocated for helping poorer countries address the impact of climate change; rather, it will be devoted to advancing the interests of fossil fuel companies"????
Number 6: Healthcare. Removing Medicare's ability to negotiate medicine prices, denying gender-affirming care to trans people, forcing people to have a nuclear family basically.
Number 7: All of this bullshit. It's all shit, but please take a look at the last sentence of paragraph 4: "Trump has also spoken of rounding up homeless people in blue cities and detaining them in camps."
Number 8: LGBTQ community. "Proposes the recognition of only heterosexual men and women, the removal of protection against discrimination on the basis of sexual or gender identity, and the elimination of provisions pertaining to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from federal legislation." "The goal here is to move toward colorblindness and to recognize that we need to have laws and policies that treat people like full human beings not reducible to categories, especially when it comes to race." THEN LET US BE WHO WE ARE. THIS IS THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.
Number 9: Banning pornography. Just let people be people. We have needs. Let us be. Especially when Trump had that sneaky link that led him being charged on 34 counts.
Number 10: Abortion. Are we really going to let white males who don't know where the clitoris is decide what Women get to do with their bodies? You said in the pornography thing that it leads to the exploration of women, but isn't this doing the exact same thing?
In conclusion, Project 2025 would take away numerous rights that we deserve as human beings, including, but not limited to, having a clean environment, the right to an education, access to necessary medication, freedom of expression, sexual media, women's choice with their own bodies, and possibly freedom of religion, one of America's first amendment rights.
I'm scared. I am a queer minor with school accommodations, who has no way out of America.
I don't want to flunk out of high school because my accommodations got taken away from me.
I don't want to have a child at all, let alone before I turn 18 because I got raped and can't get an abortion because of what the government says I can and can't do with my body.
I don't want to be trapped in an area where I can barely breathe because of all the pollutants in the air.
I don't want to be discriminated against, harassed, or dehumanized because of my gender identity and sexuality.
I don't want to be forced to be a Christian.
I'm scared of my own country, and what it could do to me. I don't want to die.
Vote Blue. Or else America could be turned into a suppressive dictatorship.
Despite a series of bomb threats against legislators in the state, Maine's Governor Janet Mills has signed a transgender and abortion sanctu
Because I circulated a call to action about it here that got some traction: to those of you who contacted Maine legislators when it counted, thank you— it worked. Maine just passed sanctuary-state-level protection for trans rights.

Shoutout to all the people of Ohio who just passed abortion, contraception, and reproductive rights of all people into constitutional law by a fucking 12+ point margin despite the state legislature desperately trying to do everything they can to fuck up the vote. I'm so proud of y'all!!
Edit: Trans people fucking rule, sex work is cool and deserves respect, sex isn't a binary, gender critical theory is based on terrible disproven science and is just Phrenology for sex.
