Shortly before the war began, I got married. My wife and I dreamed of building a peaceful life together, but those dreams were shattered almost overnight.

The war took everything from us. Our home was destroyed, and the car that was my only source of income was lost. In a matter of days, I went from being able to support my family to having nothing.

Today, my wife and I live in a tent. Even the small piece of land where our tent stands is not free, and the landowner asks us to pay rent every month. We struggle every day to find food, clean water, and the basic necessities of life.

Everyone treats her as The Worst Person Alive, and all the other villains like Lizzie, Kitty and Faybelle embrace the idea that they’re born inherently evil. But then why is Kittie roommates with Maddie, why is Ramona Badwolf roommates with Justine Dancer? Why does Faybelle’s bio list her as being best friends with Duchess? Why do all of the Wonderland characters get along with Lizzie. I get they share a bond due to losing their home, but shouldn’t the idea that all villains are evil and sadists apply to all characters, not just Raven? Do these characters believe in the propaganda they were raised with or not?

‘But The Evil Queen destroyed Wonderland!’ Why was she even allowed to do that? I thought everyone was stuck in their destinies; her ending with her rotting in prison. If she left and continued her life, doesn’t that prove that some characters can live lives beyond their stories endings before the show even starts? If The Evil Queen loved her character so much, wouldn’t she have chosen to stay in jail? And why haven’t any of the other villains done the same thing? The Queen of Hearts is still ruling Wonderland and The Cheshire Cat (not a canon villain btw) is causing mischief. All the Evil Queen did was poison one person, shouldn’t The Dark Fairy be somewhere out there ending the world? Faybelle should’ve been born with literally the exact same backstory and abusive mother. Why are they even allowed to continue past their endings at all? Why the hell is Baba Yaga a faculty advisor? Why is Rumpelstiltskin a science teacher? Isn’t he supposed to be dead?

‘But Raven was taught to be good by The Good King’ So why aren’t the kids raised by other kings and queens nicer? Why is The Good King the only royal who can see past the cracks? In that case shouldn’t Ashlynn be the same as Raven because her father had the exact same story as The Good King. He’s raising villains too with the Evil Stepsisters, is there something special about Raven’s dad that’s unexplained? Why are both of Raven’s parents the outliers despite being no different from any other fairytale character.

Snow White is the most famous story in this universe because Apple embodies the ‘perfect princess’, not because the evil queen isn’t any more or less evil than any other villain.

This narrative works because these characters aren’t human and are trapped in tragic, unmoving fates. If their lives continue past their ending, and said ending wasn’t as bad as we’re told, doesn’t it make what Raven is so scared of pointless? ‘Don’t worry about spending the rest of your life rotting in jail, we’ll let you out after a few days and you can continue on with your life’. The Big Bad Wolf is teaching at your school apparently these ‘unmoving destinies’ last about a week.).

Also is Duchess actually going to die at the end of her story or not?! The Swan Princess and her prince clearly had her; the Swan Lake story takes place over two days, did they stretch it out to nine months instead? Or did Odette just not die. Does anything in this world have stakes at all?!

Why is anyone shocked that Red Rising Hood and The Bad Wolf fell in love if they’re allowed to be friends before their story, and continue with their lives after. Either we live in George Orwell’s 1984 with constant surveillance, or everyone already understands that a hero and villain can be friends.

Everyone thinks Apple is so sweet for being friends with Raven, Apple herself says she loves Raven long before she changes her mind about their fates. Do heroes genuinely believe all villains are evil, or are they fine with openly being friends where anyone can see?

And some of the reasons given for these characters becoming Rebels are both petty and contradictory; Ashlynn and Hunter don’t want their high school romance to end, but also why is Daring constantly going on dates with girls if he’s fated to be with Apple? Isn’t that a form of rebellion?

1)Raven immune to propaganda and why is she the only one treated as Evil:

Both of your statements are false within the story! Raven is not immune to propaganda. Questioning the system doesn't mean you absolutely know it's wrong! Raven spent a whole month (Legacy Day is at the end of September,almost a month after the first day of school) thinking that maybe he had to sign for the sake of his friends, and the decision to rip his belly was made on the spur of the moment.The entire next book sees Raven having to deal with the consequences of this action because even though she now knows that no one goes poof, the equivalent of God in their world has collapsed and people are in crisis.

Furthermore, it is absolutely not true that the other Villains are not treated badly: Lizzie is deeply excluded from every social circle, Ginger is constantly put under scrutiny because"he could poison us and eat us", nobody likes Faybelle and they are friends with her only out of fear

2) Why other Villains embrace being evil: This is false! Lizzie, Kitty, and Faybelle, when they have a POV, clearly express that they exaggerate their evilness because "it's their story." But their private lives are profoundly different. Lizzie is a good girl inside but acts angry because she think s it's what her mother would do, Kitty is in a mischievous role but when she put her friends in danger she regretted it, and Faybelle as a child was much sweeter and it is after years of plagiarism from her mother that she became a mean girl.

3) The Roomates Issues: I honestly don't understand what your problem is with the idea of Maddie and Kitty being roommates, since it's thematically consistent (and they even grew up together).I mean, it's one of the best pairings on the show.

Justine and Ramona were thrown together because they were introduced late in the show and two free-form characters were needed (Had they been introduced earlier they probably would have had more suitable roommates). Yes, thematically they're pretty meh, but they don't destroy any of the show's foundations.

4) Faybelle and Lizzie's friendships:

The Duchess and Faybelle dolls were released around the same time, so since they are the two mean girls at school, the two are best friends in the diaries. It's true, if we look at the reality of the show and the books, Duchess's best friend is not Faybelle, it's Sparrow! But Sparrow doll never came out so a replacement was needed (idem for Faybelle: Her best friend in the books is clearly Ginger, but their storyline was cut from the show.) This is not a plot hole though because this information does not actually impact/is inconsistent with the canon in any way.

If you're asking why the Wonderlandians get along with Lizzie, I guess you haven't actually seen the show/read the books: They grew up together!!! Kitty and Lizzie even live under the same guardian.They are long-time friend. Also, they are from Wonderland, where all the characters except Alice are morally gray. It makes sense that they're friends. Also, again: Just because they live in a theocracy doesn't mean everyone is like Apple!

5) The Evil Queen Has a Life After the Fairy Tale + The Invasion of Wonderland: THAT'S THE POINT! Fairy Tale is a big set up to give divine legitimacy to those in power, that is, the various princesses like Snow White.

Furthermore, The prison thing was only implemented after the Evil Queen messed up. Before, she just had the hot shoes/exile punishment (depending on which version of Snow White you're reading).And that's because the bad guys still have to stay alive because they're part of their world's economy. Because as in the real world, a political enemy has been created that serves to maintain the status

And no, NO ONE ALLOWED THE EVIL QUEEN TO INVADE WONDERLAND - That's exactly why she's a subversive! The idea was that she should remain obedient in her castle because "that's the tradition" respecting the punishment, but she didn't do it. AND THIS IS BECAUSE DESTINY DOESN'T REALLY EXIST, at least not the way Grimm and the Royals want it; that's the point

6) Why the Dark Fairy doesn't do the same thing: Ok, officer you haven't read the books because that's exactly what happens - The dark fairy was supposed to invade other kingdoms, but Raven's mother beat her to it; so much so that now Raven's Storybook reports the invasion of the Beauty Kingdom as a point in the Queen family's history,instead of the Thorns

And yes, Faybelle's mother is an abusive mother! She's described as a narcissist! The difference is that Faybelle prefers to believe her mother's delusions and tries to please her rather than rebel,Because unlike Raven she doesn't have a good second parent to put her on the right path

And then excuse me, why would they chase away the Queen of Hearts? Wonderland is her land, and her subjects love her and her husband. She's unpleasant to Alice, but Alice does nothing to depose her. That's her rightful throne, and that's it! Ditto with the Cheshire Cat: He's a duchess's pet cat, what on earth would they do to him? Sell him to the pound????

7) Why they are still alive: Because once again, fairy tales are a system of social legitimacy!! It's like saying, "Why are you staying alive after you've had children? You've achieved your goal in life!

Baba Yaga isn't a villain in Russian fairy tales (that's the Wizard Koshei), she's more like an ambiguous fairy godmother. It makes sense that Grimm would want such an important figure as Vice Principal.

Rumpelstiltskin doesn't die in his fairy tale, he just goes to hell. And even if he did die in the Grimm story, that's not canon in the world of EAH where bad guys can survive for legacy purpouse.

8) Why Only Raven Has The Good King: BECAUSE HE'S HER FUCKING BIOLOGICAL FATHER. He raised her, because he's her father. The other villain children we know are Faybelle, Ramona, Ginger, and Lizzie. Faybelle and Ginger don't have a father because they are magical creatures (they could be magic created, their mothers could have killed their fathers etc. There are many possible ways), Ramona is just faking evil for not cast suspects on her and Badwolf and Lizzie SHE HAS A GOOD FATHER, AND IN FACT SHE'S NOT REALLY EVIL

Lizzie says several times that she feigns anger to appear like her mother, but in reality she is more docile than her. And in fact, the King of Hearts is described as a magnanimous and funny person, both by Lewis Carol and Shannon Hale.

9) Ashlynn's Father: In all versions of Cinderella, the stepsisters are already adults or at least of marriageable age when they arrive at Ella's house. So King Ella doesn't raise them at all (and also dies shortly thereafter). Furthermore, neither Charlotte nor Prudence are particularly evil in the books, they only want to marry the prince because they know it would help their status (EAH is a deeply classist world,the social climbe is important for commoners)

10) Snow White is the most important: The writers chose Snow White because it is the fairy tale that practically everyone in the real world knows. And yes, it has nothing to do with the villain (or they would have chosen Sleeping Beauty, since everyone remembers the evil fairy), but with the power of the White family. That's the point.

11) Swan Lake: Yes, the story could have happened in 9 months (gestation time) instead of two days because even though EAH's fairy tales are more faithful to the Grimm counterpart than the Disney ones, there is still that something called a NARRATIVE PACT, which implies that in their world some things are different from our version for the sake of the narrative. There is nothing strange in the fact that in their universe the Swan Lake lasts 9 months instead of 2 days, Goldilocks is 18 years old instead of 10, etc. etc. Also because real life fairy tales have numerous versions and are not fixed.

While in Shannon Hale's original trilogy the implications were that Odette was dead and Siegfried had started a new life with Odile (and in fact Duchess is desperately looking for a prince probably to fill this other void as well). Later it was retconned to the swan to make things less dark. But it remains that it is a dark fate - Duchess is destined to lose herself and the love of her life, just like her mother did.

12) The Candy Witch: This is false, the implications of punishment are there anyway! The Breadhouse family is socially isolated and can't do anything. The beats are mistreated. Badwolf has special permission because he's usefull, but otherwise would be in jail. Furthermore, once again, the Villains are part of their world's economy, they can't definitively eliminate them. This isn't Descendants!!!

13) The Woolf-Hood romance: Okay, you really haven't read the books! It literally says that in previous years the school was segregated into classes based on social exclusion. And if it's true that being all in the same institution obviously creates class solidarity, it was still taken for granted that Red would never get close to Badwolf because there are centuries of "Red Hood should not intersct with the Bad Wolf".

14) Apple and Raven friendship: Yes, Apple's initial friendship with Raven is deliberately written to be a friendship of convenience. Apple repeatedly thinks Raven is evil, but she also believes that since the fairy tale of Snow White has A happy ending isn't an insurmountable evil. Apple is deliberately stupid and tone deaf, because she's a privileged piece of shit who doesn't understand why Raven is hurt by the sistem

15) The Huntlynn: This is proof you don't understand the classist nature of the show. Ashlynn can't date Hunter BECAUSE HE'S POOR! Daring dates princesses, so no one has any problems. Ever After society hates the working class, because at the end of the day they're pawns for the royals.In the books, Sparrow is even placed in the class of villains because in their world stealing from the rich is a crime, even if for the just cause of helping the less fortunate. (of which he himself is a part).

Except for Rosabella and Darling, all the rebels are people of working-class backgrounds who are left behind by the system because they are either poor (Hunter, Sparrow, Cerise, Cedar, Maddie), or Bad (Raven) or both (Ginger)

With Darling being a miscellaneous princess, could a Princess Charming be the one who breaks Hopper’s curse? Because that princess is never given a name and is never deemed one of the Famous Princesses; ala Snow White and Cinderella. We never get to meet her, and she never even gets mentioned by Hopper. None of the other female characters name their prince charming, because they don’t which one it’s gonna be. Is it the same for the Frog Princess? Or is she also a student at the school who knows her destiny, and is just never mentioned? You’d think Hopper would have her on speed-dial whenever he gets turned into a frog.

Although then why is Rosabella her own person who knows her story but Daring doesn’t if he’s not actually a typical Prince Charming? The Beauty is never given a name, just like The Frog Princess. Is it because she has more agency in her story than the Frog Princess? Because her stories more famous? Because her ‘name’ is in the title?

The Frog Prince (who gets saved) is his own person with his own story, but his princess who saves him seems to not be considered important by the school or other princesses. The Beast (who gets saved) is one of the hundreds of Prince Charming’s out there, and his character is also not considered important, while his princess (who saves him) gets to be her own person who knows her story.

First, I cannot recall if we’ve ever gotten the perspective of a heroine outside of the diaries; if so, if Mattel even choice to focus on that. Most of what we hear from the princesses are from villainesses and damsels, the later of which do seem to have an issue with only centering their experiences while ignoring the existence of other women. (We also see this happen to Duchess where the other princesses act as if princesses without Happily Ever Afters don’t exist and how Duchess ignores how Raven is royalty.)

I feel the only princess we ever see recognize the existence of heroines is Darling, making sense as she both envies and idolises them.

One, Rosabella is descendant from the previous Beauty & Beast, this is explicitly stated multiple times. Two, Daring is not born from the family, he would be married in, thus he would need his destiny confirmed elsewhere. The only people in canon who understand what their destiny is 98% are people born into their destinies, thus Rosabella and not Daring. Three, the Beast doesn’t have a name either so I don’t understand the point your trying to make, Beauty is what she’s called throughout the fairytale and it’s explicitly explained as that… Four, the Beast is not a Prince Charming character trope, I don’t understand where you’re getting this from. There’s a lot uncertainty about the destinies that play out post-W2W so to take everything without the context of what happened in that special is 100% going to lead to confusion.

In Darling’s book, Princess Charmings are set to be the complete opposite, or other-half of Prince Charmings. Where they are valiant heroes, they are helpless damsels. It’s unlikely that she’d be chosen for a role that (1) doesn’t require a damsel — which she has been educated for (2) does not require a Charming Princess.

The characters cease to exist once their story is finished, and the next generation is magically created immediately after. This creates more weight behind the propaganda, and more stakes behind the rebellion; your life revolves around this story, this Happy Ending is your only goal in life, it is all you have to look forward to. Everyone’s lives revolve around pushing these stories forward and if you step out of line our existence crumbles.

(Obviously this magic is either created by Grimm to force these stories how he wants, or can be broken. Red Hood and The BadWolf both escaped their ending and ran away, having their own children).

Not all fairytale characters end their stories young; a lot of the villains are old crones, Sleeping Beauty and Maid Marien both have kings and queens who are grown adults in their stories. In this au the world’s economy is run by everyone whose stories haven’t come into fruition yet. It creates almost a religious panic; you don’t know what’s on the other side, you don’t know why you’re told to do this, you just know you’re only a good person if you do as you’re told.

Also, in the same way there’s multiple Prince Charming’s, I’d make the decision that sometimes a villain has to double up and be in multiple stories: the students aren’t the next generation of specific characters, but archetypes themselves.

Raven isn’t just The Evil Queen, she’s instead forced to take on the role of every Witch across all fairytales; Little Mermaid, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty. I think this would make sense why she’s seen as way scarier than the other villains because she’s in the most famous fairytales. Kitty Cheshire is also the cat in Pinocchio, Macavity the Mystery Cat, Shere Khan in the Jungle Book etc. I think it’d be funny if Lizzie has to spend the whole of her story running back and forth as the Queen of Hearts, the Red Queen, the Duchess and The Cook. Just completely out of breath.

I also think this creates a rift between Raven and the other villains; they have less roles and aren’t as famous.

(I know this means no Faybelle, I will find a place for her. I think maybe The Wicked Stepmother; she hates Raven cause she doesn’t get to do anything cool and half time the her roles are stolen from her anyway, like in Snow White. Or she’s playing second fiddle, with her role in Hansel and Gretel being outclassed).

This is also how it’s built into the heroes to resent the villains; Raven gets to grow old spending her life in multiple stories until she fits the ‘old hag’ archetype. But Apple has to die young and beautiful. Apple clings to her story with everything she has, because it’s the only the she gets to have.

There are a lot of characters whose existence undermines the entire destiny conflict, and I’ll agree Poppy is one of them. Thinking about her will bring you pain, especially as by the time she’s introduced, Mattel had betrayed so much of the existing conflict.

There’s so much theorizing that can be done on what the book actually does and what it’s preached by Grimm & other authorities to do. In the show, it seems the for a while it was replaced by a fake, created and controlled by M. Grimm. But, later on with the real one, it showed that there was barely anything protecting someone but a identity fraud spell from someone taking another’s destiny. It makes me think that the ceremony itself and the reason the book is locked away — though poorly — is to protect and keep destinies within their families. It’s likely that Raven’s rebellion has brought on a unique situation, especially following her mother’s own rebellion that pushed the authorities to get desperate and resort to untraditional means. I do feel there are some corrupt elements of their society already, so it’s not much to question them getting away with this.

And there is merit to this being true for when Raven rebelled, two of the counter-plans focused on having her replaced. And yes, I’ll agree again, I feel this dulls the conflict as well.

I feel one of us is misremembering the situation, the way the conflict in Truth or Hair (their book by Selfor’s) came to be is their relative responsible for handling them at birth realizing they made a mistake with the birth order, them discovering they are switched was a recent revelation. So they couldn’t make any decisions based off of information they did not have years ago. 

And, it’s the fact that we don’t know if anyone else has tried that. We don’t have that much insight into the previous generations, Selfors is terrible at grounding the characters into anything substantial in the lore and thus everything seems closed off.

I like to think it’s due to the neglect his parents put him through, they care about Daring’s prospects in life not Dexter’s. Moreover, it’s likely the book is the authority for then on these things, so what they may have used to determine Daring without the book is seen as pseudoscience (like reading their astrology charts to see who’s more compatible with who, but also status. Daring is the most Charming Prince Charmings to-be within Apple’s generation, and under the believe that she is the best story in the world, she and her family believes she deserves him.)

I do also believe that people do exists to fill in the background and the ensemble, to produce more people in the world so fairytales don’t have to intermingle as much as they already do. As well, I believe that some roles in fairytales are simply citizen of Snow White’s kingdom, daughter of Rapunzel, court member of Sleeping Beauty’s kingdom. Those roles are necessary and can have restrictions placed on them so they fit in society, but they can be seen as “lackluster” or “filler” compared to the lives of protagonists, villains, and etc. rather than “liberating” and “freeing.” I feel this is the direction they should have took Poppy & Justine.

Also, while I know that incest is a part of some fairytales, I don’t believe Mattel wanted every character unnecessarily in an incestious relationship. The Charmings exist the way they do (meaning multiple families disconnected from each other) to supply this character trope prominent in fairytale literature. (And, before it’s said, I feel the reason Dexter was up for the Beast role specifically is due to Mattle’s misogyny, as why is the only story they completely fucked over in representation the only one they picked that was written by a woman? I see you Mattel, I see you.) Some reasonings simply exist for the convenience of communicating ideas to an audience. (Sorry if this part is inadequate, I don’t quite understand what’s confusing about the Prince Charming Factory and a doll brand not wanting to sell incestous dolls to little girls.)

It is 100% possible for families to be related without it undermining the fabric of their reality. Sleeping Beauty is another destiny that foretells the birth of more than one child, thus a spare along with the heir. Going back and summarizing, I believe there are two ways their destiny is picked, they either get chosen for another story similarly to the Charmings, or they are simply “the daughter of Sleeping Beauty”, which is likely a needed destiny considering they would need someone to rule while the eldest takes out their destiny. Moreover, it’s likely for how Beauty & the Beast differs from other fairytales where the love interest is not the trope character, Prince Charming, that both destinies have the possibility of being carried down to the heir (Beast) or heiress (Beauty.) Meaning Rosabella’s father was born into the destiny while her mother was married into it.

PEOPLE GONNA HATE ME FOR THIS BUT I LOVE THE DRAMA. I think it’s good to theorize that titles change overtime, King Charming was once a low-status destined Prince Charming & so was his wife, Queen Charming (think of Darling’s situation at the start of the book.) Apple’s Mother is currently Snow White, but she’ll would have became the mother in role. Her husband went from Prince Charming to King White. To go on and mention this first, I think it’s weird that Apple & Raven aren’t related, and the right course of action would have been choosing a better fairytale for the premise & not erasing it. But to what I really want to say, the only reason Good King isn’t Snow White’s dad and Apple’s grandma’s former husband is the IMPLICATION. Which rules the lands over here.

But yes, I do think the previous heiresses to the Snow White & Cinderella destinies are supposed to die young, as their daughters take on that role and them the mothers’ roles, which requires it.

Maddie, Cedar and others are Rebels because they are politically aligned in favor of the abolition of the book. Briar is a royal because even though she cries about it in private because she doesn't like her story, politically she is in favor of the system of destinies; because in any case she gets benefits from it.

That's why it's important for Ashlynn to say, "From now on, I'm Ashlynn the rebel," in True Heart Day. Because up until that point, she'd been politically aligned with the royals because it benefited her. This is the reason why Duchess never really rebels, because as a noblewoman she has the benefits of the system.

Saying "Briar is a rebel because she won't sign" is like saying "Well, a woman can't be conservative." It doesn't work that way!

First, the original Rebels include two people who were going to pursue their destinies, and aligned themselves with Raven as they agree no one should be forced into doing this. Choice is a big part of the Rebels’ campaign to say. Royals are loyal to the destiny system and the way things are traditionally ran, most of them are royalty yes, but it’s also the path people start on not deviate into.

To be a Royal (ideology) is to be subservient to and in the shadow of the Royals (social class). The entire destiny system is built on princesses and princes saving the day and getting happily ever afters. In many fairytales, wealth and a title is the reward for being a good person and enduring to the end. Being a Royal is kind of the ultimate goal. The destiny system IS a classist one, so calling yourself a royal to mean you support it does in fact make sense. Even the elected student body officials in charge of running the school are called "The Royal Student Council."

Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and the frog prince all have curses inherited (& or doomed to happen), with 'prince charmings' allowed to be anyone. Beauty is the beast's princess charming more or less, and it makes it really weird that The Beauty role gets passed down instead of The Beast role. It also inheriantly causes more problems because what if nobody got cursed to be a beast? Do they have to count on whoever inherited The Enchantress destiny to curse some rando to be a beast instead of the cycle all the other families have?

One, I don’t think EAH does “gender-blind” casting outside of commoner and villain roles, all the high status royalty keep to the gender of their story counterpart. Secondly, I feel the examples you referenced (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and the Frog Prince) are more symptom to the destiny passing on to the protagonist. I can’t remember if EAH ever explored complicated destiny inheritance, but I assume in cases like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, that the firstborn daughter gets the destiny. For stories like the Frog Prince and Beauty & the Beast, I can see the firstborn child’s gender being a determining factor in which role gets outsourced. So, if Rosabella was a boy, she would inherit the Beast role & the Beauty role be outsourced. 

But even then, I don’t agree with the concept of it being similar to Prince Charmings, though I can understand as we aren’t given other explanations for how destinies not inherited through families are granted. In the original fairytale, Beauty is not only praised on for being charming, but for being the only young woman who could see pass the Beast’s cursed form & save him. The little we get from Rosabella’s character (and other’s) is that EAH’s society is extremely beastphobic, which is needed for any iteration of Beauty & the Beast to play out, yes, but also means it’s inconsistent for them also to be intentionally turning out little beast right’s activists on mass like they are with the Charmings. (Especially, as it seems, for one story as it seems the sister tales of Beauty & the Beast might not exist as that's not explored either. All the things to do ourselves tho!)

Moreover, it can be possible for Briar & Rosabella to be related as cousins through their mothers, even if her mother endured the entire sleep. (Which, I don't feel undermines Briar’s storyline as they are both being punished for that and it would put Briar under more pressure to go through with her story in full. Additionally, it’s established throughout the story that the punishment the royals & rebel’s fear initially is that if you don’t sign, you’ll die. It’s already understood that people can rebel even though they’ve signed, Raven’s mom for example.) That being, in the end of the fairytale, Beauty & the Beast, all the couple are said to live as long as any mortal has ever lived, as well as, there’s fairy ancestry within the Beauty, which I assume could extend her life. It’s something to play around with.

I hate what Disney did to Beauty & the Beast as I feel they let the Beast trample all over her storyline and did reduce her to being a bland Prince Charming character who takes his abuse compared to the story it was before. I feel the original solves so many problems people have with the fairytale in EAH & Disney, and I wish people had the time to embrace it more.

Everybody has different standards when it comes to love, and that’s where we’ll settle this. As I don’t believe people with horrible pasts deserve to be shunned and deprived of love, but if I’m one of the injured parties of their past, barely blood could get me to forgive and rebuild that relationship again  — especially if it’s romantic! The knowledge that he required her to ensure he wouldn’t die and yet got aggressive with her multiple times as if his figure is not imposing enough? That's a terrible omen for the future!

For a very, VERY long time it was commonly believed that they had never edited their stories or that at most they just changed mothers into stepmothers or slightly modified rhymes/titles, but that was it. Until a very, VERY recent time it was truly believed the Grimms had gotten their tales from old grandmas and peasant women of Germany. People had to have academical fights to defend that the Grimm fairytales were not purely "authentic pieces of folklore untouched by snobbish literature".

All that we know today as the "truth" about the Grimms has always been there, always been talked about - that they got their stories from a little group of bourgeois families, that they severely edited a lot of their stories, that it is not as "authentic folklore" as the actual research of later folklorists - but it was NOT common knowledge until recently, and it was not widely accepted as a "truth".

based on her relationship to raven’s mother, raven, and her own mother, she gives us a lot of interesting things to think about!

i love you read of their relationship (the dynamic reminds me of pampinea & misia from decameron and i love seeing that toxic mess elsewhere.)

but i wanted to add on. i feel a lot of the pressure that drives faybelle’s decision making process is due to the eq’s stealing her mother’s destiny or atleast one-upping her in her own story (its been a minute since ive revisited it).

i see the dark fairy’s role as small already, and i feel a lot of it has to do with the fact she goes unpunished. and this shows in eah where faybelle does a lot of fucked shit and is barely punished & when she does, she doesn’t know how to cope to stop things from being worse.

both of these combine and it’s where i think faybelle feels she needs to overcompensate constantly for her villiany.

compared to raven, ginger, and ramona — all people i feel she doesn’t quite get along with, are villains with canon punishments looming over them, and seem more formidable as foes (tho for raven this mainly due to the inflation the snow white story has to make it the ultimate fairytale of all time.) — faybelle seems like shes doing too much in proportion to her role & paints the picture that all big name fairytale antagonists are more nonchalant. the others we see with the same amount of passion are like henchmen & goons (like the step-sisters and faybelle’s gang.) i joked with ponti that she’s the lord farquaud of the villainy students.
