the most frustrating part of itch2’s characterization of eddie (outside of it just being absolutely lazy) is that they completely wiped away the fact that the losers are the ONLY people eddie could ever breathe around. everywhere else, his nerves are twisted and jagged like an uprooted tree and it isn’t until he is surrounded by his friends, his FAMILY, that he smooth out and the roots can find their way back into the earth to ground him. eddie never felt like he belonged anywhere until he realized the only place he did belong, and the only place he ever wanted to, was wherever the losers were. forgoing this fundamental part of his character and turning him into a hypertense, angry person (which is less than half of who he is!!!) is a large reason why the entire film failed as a second part to an entire story based on the concept of friendship and how love between friends can surmount almost anything

i find it very inch resting that a large majority of this fandom likes to interpret eddie as this cutesy, baby, submissive type of person when, for his whole life up until the day he died, he had been forced into submission and dependency to the point where one of his coping mechanisms was regression because he never was able to develop his own sense of self which is in direct relation to his trauma and heavy abuse, instead completely disregarded by fandom because these traits just make eddie cute and baby, which in reality is a huge disservice to his character and his whole arc of overcoming trauma and regaining agency and belief in himself. there’s that really amazing quote, “eddie was all the more delicate because he sometimes suspected he was not delicate at all” like it just begs the question why people are so keen on keeping him in the same delicate framework he’s supposed to break out of, especially in parallel to bev who is supported as being more than her trauma, while when eddie acts out his trauma it’s seen as soft and sweet, i mean maybe that’s something to think about
