HEROES COME IN ALL TYPES AND SIZES.
You don’t need to be a doctor to save lives, you can be you! Just by donating blood, you can help many lives. If you’re a blood donor, you’re a hero to that someone, somewhere who received your gracious gift of life.
T’was my first time to donate blood and it was kinda rough for me. Why? Because I passed out after donating some. The nurses from my workplace told me that I should’ve gained weight first before donating but I kept on smiling and laughing for the experience I had. When I was about to get some food, I felt nauseous. I gave my workmate a slight tap on her shoulder and after that I passed out. Honestly, I passed out many times that’s why the Red Cross team decided to send me to the hospital where I worked at. And in the ER, the nurse put the oxygen cannula in my nose for me to breathe normally. And all of the nurses on duty that time were laughing at me. (They’re all my friends anyway :) Sir Vincent was laughing at me saying “Ano ba tong pharmacist namin. Maputi na nga, pumuti pa lalo”. I looked pale for almost three hours.
I had a funny experience and scary at the same time. I kept on saying that I won’t ever donate again but I think I’ll definitely try again in the future. That feeling that you have donated blood to help some lives, it’s priceless.
You should try too! You can go to your Red Cross local chapter or to any place where there is a blood letting activity. Don’t miss a chance! Be a life saver! Every blood donor is a hero.
